### 2/5 — Keine Synchronisation, kein Dropbox (obwohl gekauft)

*2025-12-27*

**Developer response:** Thank you for the feedback.

We very clearly say in the App Store description that the data stays on the device and not on the web. Please refer to the "NO SIGNUP" bullet in the description. The local storage is desirable to many users for better privacy and from cost perspective (a one-time purchase). However, if syncing is important, we also offer a cloud edition that stores data on the cloud for a subscription so that might be something of interest to you. From the App Store description: "if you want to store inventory in the cloud, look for our other app, Nest Egg - Inventory In Cloud."

Dropbox support is accessible in More->Data->Shared Files area when you wish to upload or download files to/from Dropbox.

There is a device limit in Nest Egg - Inventory In Cloud -- our other solution -- as we incur network costs, and we need to manage costs so that we can extend low prices to you, the customer. Many of the subscription tiers are priced right for home inventory usage.

### 4/5 — Organizing items

*2025-11-09, version 4.2.38*

Starting to organize tools and other household items, not fun, but necessary. Gave 4 stars because of learning curve. Probably deserves 5 because it is a one time charge unlike the ridiculous apps that charge reoccurring charges.

### 2/5 — Powerful but dated and beginning to break

*2025-10-07*

I bought the app because features were promising, reviews were great, and development seemed active. But I'm no longer sure of that last point (on iPhone 13, ios 18, at least)...

My biggest issues are:
-Using the camera takes too many button presses, including inexplainably opening the iPhone "sharing" menu. An app like this should be efficient.
-ALL the support buttons are broken, including "report a problem"
-Other menu features are broken or cut off
-Based on the description vaguely implying iCloud sync (a common feature in apps like this) I thought it would be automatic, but it's triggered manually and more of a backup than sync. And it's stored in a proprietary format, so a csv is another step.
-Developers have a bad attitude to feedback and are not proactive with compatibility updates.

Personally, I feel like I sadly wasted my money. I think the features here are generous for the price, but that's no good when they don't work well. I genuinely do hope this improves!

**Developer response:** The characterizations and experience here is perhaps more a review of iOS 26 than anything else. This is the recurring annual gift from Apple every September. Alas, users generally are unable to distinguish between app issues and iOS issues (breaking changes, deprecated APIs dropped, new camera security settings, iCloud reshuffle and so on).

We ask that users pay attention to when the issues started happening before writing negative reviews, especially in September/October timeframe. We also advise all users not to upgrade to the next iOS major version until there are at least two patch releases from Apple on the new iOS release.

The email support buttons rely on the mail app being configured. So, take a look at that to see if you have at least one account configured and working.

iCloud support for syncing was found to be buggy for Nest Egg (leading to duplicate data and/or corruption). We cannot accept that kind of experience for our users. We clearly indicate in our description that data is stored on the device for greater privacy. (Please refer to the No signup required bullet point in the description). Any expectation of sync is not justifiable on that basis. That said, we have a subscription based offering called Nest Egg Cloud, which syncs across all mobile and desktop platforms (unlike iCloud sync).

Please write to via the support link in the App Store app or via the contact form on our site at https://nestegg.cloud/contact so we can look into any issues you need help with.

*2025-05-17*

**Developer response:** Thank you for the review and feedback!

If you wish to borrow items like you mention and mix owned items with borrowed items, it is quite likely that owned items end up getting returned instead of the borrowed items. Generally speaking, this can become an issue. So, we recommend entering the items separately (you can use Duplicate function to do this very easily) so you can track individual items correctly. This keeps borrowing flows simple as well.

By the way, if you want to do partial borrows with no tracking of individual items, that is available in the next update of Nest Egg Cloud, our subscription-based offering for small business and teams.

You can do some limited cropping from Apple iOS by turning on the image editing option in Nest Egg. We recommend doing image editing via any of the free or paid apps out there that specialize in photo editing.

There is indeed an image compression setting in Nest Egg which by default leads to a good amount of compression on photos taken in Nest Egg. If you are bringing in pictures taken outside of Nest Egg, we leave them as is.

Please write to support if you still have questions around any of these via the contact mechanisms in Nest Egg or via the contact page on our site at https://nestegg.cloud.

### 4/5 — Multiple currencies not supported

*2025-01-25*

As I have checked this app, All seems okay and helpful. But can’t able to specify the different currencies. It’s stick to only dollar.

**Developer response:** The currency in Nest Egg determined indirectly by the language/region settings in iOS. All prices are assumed to be in the currency of the region. If you have a few foreign currency purchases, you might want to consider converting them to the base currency when logging in Nest Egg. Alternatively, you could change your currency for all purchases by adjusting your region.

Logging prices in multiple currencies is supported in Nest Egg Cloud (which is a different, subscription-based solution for small businesses and teams) with auto conversion between 150+ global currencies. So, that might be something to consider.

### 4/5 — No Export to PDF

*2024-12-26*

For an expensive app, it lacks the most basic Export to PDF function. I'd have to export everything to HTML, preview it through the browser/HTML Viewer and then take a full screen pdf from there.
I say expensive because there are already cheaper alternatives with this basic functionality.
If this function is added for free (not a paid upgrade), this could be my default go-to app to use for inventory.

**Developer response:** Thank you for sharing your experience with Nest Egg.

Nest Egg supports CSV and HTML exports. Many modern desktop browsers such as Safari can convert the html exported into PDF files. Alternatively, you can use print to PDF function to generate PDFs out of the HTML exported in any browser after opening the HTML export and choosing to print.

In Nest Egg Cloud, a different app from us, you can fire PDF reports around your items and transactions. So, that might be something to consider as well.

### 3/5 — Great for inventory, scanning rarely works

*2024-07-21*

Undamaged manufacturer UPC barcodes with good lighting fail to bring up any product info. Attempts to troubleshoot scanning with tech support have failed repeatedly. Eventually they just stop replying to emails when provided with requested info.
Having said that, it's still a good inventory app, just don't buy it for the scanning.

**Developer response:** Failing to scan barcodes depend on many factors such as wrong barcode type, damaged barcodes, device limitations, lighting conditions, just to name a few. Sometimes barcodes are right next to each other preventing successful scan.

Nest Egg automatically shows you scanning tips when the scanning is delayed. You can also tap on the info button to see the tips anytime in the scanner. See if any of them help.

Please get in touch with support (via More->Support->Report a Problem or https://nestegg.cloud/contact) with your device information so we can look into what you experience. We will be happy to troubleshoot this with you.

### 4/5 — Good but needs PDF export option

*2024-06-27, version 4.2.30*

Good app but needs PDF export feature to have a good usable backup.

### 2/5 — A pain to use

*2024-03-27, version 4.2.28*

This was not entirely intuitive to use as it should be. I tried scanning with a barcode, but could not figure out how to do it. I tried adding a seller, but the system would not accept it.

### 4/5 — Super App mit sehr guten Preisleistungsverhälltnis

*2024-02-27*

**Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback and review.

Nest Egg works with standardized UPC/EAN/JAN barcodes which are global standards. So, it is not accurate to say that Nest Egg cannot look up European products.

You can absolutely search by tags, when you type tag names you will see the option to change the search text to a specific tag.

You can duplicate items in order to leverage your prior entry and set a different expiration date in Nest Egg. If you have a barcode on the item, the details will auto-populate as well.

In Nest Egg Cloud, a different app, you can log multiple purchases for a single item with different expiration dates for the purchases. So, that might be something to consider.

Please write to us using the support mechanisms built into Nest Egg or via our site at https://nestegg.cloud/de/kontakt/ if you have any additional questions or comments. We are happy to help!

### 4/5 — Great app to track collections of all sorts

*2024-01-09, version 4.2.27*

Love this app to track all my craft supplies! It’s easy to use and can be adapted to what you need to keep track of. I recommend the app to anyone looking to track their collections.

### 2/5 — Too many app advertisements & Common Sense

*2023-11-22, version 4.2.26*

There extremely too many app upgrades to do simple things like export to CSV spreadsheet or to have tags those all come with $1.99 upgrade.

I first downloaded the live version, and then I took the plunge and purchased the full version. I cannot say I am happy because this is not a full functioning inventory system to catalog an entire house for an estate.

After creating a list of items. A packet of snake has now been consumed. There is no option to mark as consumed or ensure the count on the item now reflects the correct quantity.
When it comes to food I’m not lending food to myself. And, in this example the food is not borrowed.
Where is the option to mark an item used or consumed so the inventory count is reduced and accurate.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Great layout & data storage, but needs work on scanner

*2026-06-18*

Really like the app, but the barcode scanning is *very* hit or miss.
After trying to scan many, many UPC-A barcodes it almost never recognizes them no matter what I do. It’s not a problem with how I’m doing it, as multiple of the other free apps you can get on the app store scan codes quicker and more reliably. When viewing through the scanning view, there’s a noticeable drop in camera quality versus say my camera app, or other barcode scanning apps. Kinda disappointing that an app I paid for seems to function worse in one of its key features than free apps

We will be happy to troubleshoot this with you.

### 1/5 — Used to bee a good app

*2026-05-07*

I used the app for several years until I ran into what feels like fraud by the developers: I tried to restore my in-app purchases on a new iPhone and couldn’t — I keep getting a message saying it’s not possible. I hope the developers have noticeably improved their financial situation thanks to my purchases. UPD: Credit where it’s due — after I published this review, the developer contacted me fairly quickly. But that’s essentially where it ended. After almost half a day of correspondence, it became clear that even the developer himself was unable to solve the issue, and in the end he simply referred me to Apple’s support website. By the way, I couldn’t find a solution there either. My conclusion is simple: delete the app, avoid this developer, and find an application with fewer bugs.

**Developer response:** Make sure you are signed in to the app store account of purchase when restoring.

Please get in touch with Nest Egg Support with the exact details of what you are seeing, so we can troubleshoot this with you. If you tap on the discussion bubble in the main menu, you will see the support options. This option will allow you to attach the screenshot of the error you see. This is the preferred way to get in touch.

Alternatively, you can head to https://nestegg.cloud/contact to contact us on our website.

### 1/5 — Bad design software

*2026-02-02*

To import records you have to go through to stages to import records. Only to find that you got duplicated records in the end

**Developer response:** Did you import the same data more than once? Nest Egg generates Unimported archive files that should be used when there is an error in the middle of the import instead of using the original import files.

### 1/5 — Says it will print labels, requires Cloud subscription

*2026-01-15, version 4.2.39*

In the description of this app, it says that it prints labels. However, if you attempt to print a label, it will tell you that you must download the nest egg cloud version which is $85 a year, which I might be willing to pay, except that it was not advertised as such

### 1/5 — No preloaded manufacturers

*2025-11-06, version 4.2.38*

I’ll change my review if I’m wrong, but this app should have major and minor appliances manufacturers preloaded. Bosch, GE and Breville not in the database? What did I pay for?

### 1/5 — I’ve had it

*2025-10-26, version 4.2.38*

They nickel and dime you for each little feature and take away features. Just now they took away attachments that were already a feature when I initially paid and now ask me to pay $2 when entering a new item. They also promised to make the dayabase available via browser and that never happened. You now have to subscribe to a new plan. I regret having started to build an inventory with this awful company. 0 stars from me.

**Developer response:** If you are on the same App Store account of purchase, you can restore in-app purchases made by heading to More(3 vertical dots)->Settings->In-app purchases->Restore. Alternatively, look for a restore link on the main menu.

By the way, if you go through with the purchase, it will tell you that you cannot purchase it since it is already purchased! Please note that this behavior is not specific to Nest Egg and is designed behavior of iOS which is from Apple. There is no app that can get around these flows, and a restore in-app purchase function can be found in many apps offering in-app purchases.

### 1/5 — UK Foods

*2025-04-30*

This app recognises few uk food barcodes

**Developer response:** Sorry to hear about your experience. Please note that automatic lookup of barcodes works for UPC/EAN codes only. Many barcodes look similar but may not be these types. Lookup misses can occur as well because of a host of factors including general availability of items, network connection and others. Please get in touch with Nest Egg Support via https://nestegg.cloud/contact (or through in-app mechanisms in Nest Egg) with the details of what you see, so we can look into what you report.

### 1/5 — Just don’t

*2024-10-31*

How do I send this list to my insurance? Your guess is as good as mine. Not user friendly or intuitive at all. I’m sorry I ever started using this app, now I have the awful task of manually inputting each inventory item into another more useful app. Omg

**Developer response:** You can export your data into CSV or HTML formats by heading to More->Data->Export with or without images. You can also select a bunch of items and choose Email. Yet another way would be print the items you wish to send (select items and tap on Print) and mail them or walk in with your hard copy.

Please reach out to Nest Egg Support via in-app support mechanisms or via the contact form on our site (https://nestegg.cloud), if you need a hand with this. We look forward to hearing from you!

### 1/5 — Worthless for home us.

*2024-08-26, version 4.2.32*

I was looking for an app that would allow us to store many boxes in out basement and know where they were and what was in them. I paid the $4.99 for the app and bought 30 labels for QR codes and then it continues to upgrade me to use them for higher and higher costs. This is not for home use.
Want a refund

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Fantastic app for inventory.

*2026-03-28*

I purchased this app some time ago and have been using it to maintain a catalog of my items, making it easy to locate them when I store them in boxes. I really appreciate that you offer the app as a one-time purchase rather than a subscription. Thank you!

**Developer response:** Thank you for sharing your experience with Nest Egg!

### 5/5 — The best of all available

*2025-12-27*

It’s so intuitive and complete. You can do everything and locate your items very fast!!

**Developer response:** Thank you for sharing your experience with Nest Egg!

### 5/5 — Finally!!

*2025-12-26, version 4.2.38*

I have been looking for an app to track home inventory, and looks like I found it! Can do multiple photos, export photos and data. Yes this version costs but it is a one time fee, not yearly!!!

### 5/5 — Tracking purchase items

*2024-12-18, version 4.2.32*

This is a great tool to keep track of major purchases including serial numbers. I had a chainsaw stolen. I got it back because I had the model & serial number.

*2024-06-07*

Übertrifft meine Erwartungen.

**Developer response:** Thank you for sharing your experience with Nest Egg!

### 5/5 — This app has helped me clear clutter

*2024-01-15*

I received several generations worth of random household items, owned many pets, worked professionally with pets, I’ve moved and was paying for costly storage unit. Downsizing was necessary, I couldn’t mentally map where all my items were located. Documenting the important items and their location has let off a lot of stress. Getting items untangled allowed huge steps forward. Letting go of objects is much easier when you realize that you have multiple of it. I was able to drop from a 5x15 storage unit to 5x8 unit saving $180 per month!!! This is a great app for people overwhelmed with clutter, moving or who just received an estate. The add ons are worth it. I still have work ahead, but this app has improved my productivity and emotional wellbeing.

**Developer response:** Well done Sage Groomer! Emotional wellbeing is priceless. Thank you for sharing your experience with us and the Nest Egg community.

### 5/5 — Developers are Considerate

*2023-12-20, version 4.2.26*

Used to categorize my home inventory. My favorite part of this app is how responsive the developers are to any inquiries I have. They are also continually looking for any suggestions to improve the app. Dedication to the user and their experience is really important to me.

### 5/5 — A very good inventory app

*2023-06-09*

Have used probably all of the inventory apps on the App Store, none offer the functionality and easy to use UI as this one. Includes the all important export facilities - useful for insurance purposes. There is no in-app cloud sync though exporting a back up and have it automatically open on another device is very quick and simple using AirDrop. If you’re serious about organising your stuff, save yourself the time looking, just download this one! I’m in no way associated with the developer, just like to give credit where credit is due. I hope this app stays current with updates, as it’s a clear winner.

**Developer response:** We have addressed what you seem to be reporting in update 4.2.2. Please update to the latest in the App Store. Apologies for the inconvenience.

### 5/5 — Easy and fun way to create a home inventory

*2023-06-06*

I was looking for an app to assist in inventorying a large collection of DVDs I was planning to donate and was dreading having to catalog them by hand. I looked for an app to scan barcodes and look up media details online and quickly found Nest Egg. I was able to quickly scan around 100 DVDs in just about 20 minutes. Amazing!

To add, support is amazing. I had to send an email asking how to get the scanner to work with my iPhone 14 camera and they responded in less than an hour with a very friendly and helpful answer. (There’s a toggle for iPhone 14 camera correction on the app settings).

In summary, great app that saved me a lot of manual effort. $4.99 well spent.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback and review!

### 5/5 — Great app!

*2023-03-12, version 4.2.24*

Love it
