Lots of features and looks great, however needs an iOS 26 update, and hasn’t been updated in a year. This is the biggest reason I never purchase a lifetime license. Thanks in advance! ### 4/5 — Useful app, but could use improvements *2024-02-27* I really enjoy this app, been using it since November of 2021. It has kept track of all my financial progress and I will continue to use this app for many years to come. But there are some problems that I think could easily be fixed. I did my best to explain exactly what they were but it may be harder to understand without visual explanation. If anything you could email me or contact me to figure it out. I really want to keep using this app, and these two changes would make a large difference. 1) I noticed when I copy my balance from my bank account and try to paste it using the “Update Balances” option, it does not work and changes the balance to zero. This is annoying because i like inputting all of my balances to the very last cent, and I currently have 6 accounts. 2) When you want to change the history of an account, instead of inputting the amount made or lost, it makes you put the newer/updated balance of money for the account. For Example: Account is -$1000 and you add $500, you have to subtract $500 from $1000 in your calculator to get -$500. And then input that number into the “Enter Amount” option via account history, instead of just being able to deduct $500 - this example is very simple math but gets tedious when you have 4 digit numbers with decimals, doing the math in your head takes up unnecessary time. The reason I select the “History” option rather than the “Enter current balance” option is because i don’t actually know the balance. I made the account to owe myself money, and that number is not a real balance that exists anywhere in my real bank accounts. I created it in your app, which means when I start to pay it off and add money to it, I don’t actually know the current balance until I subtract the amount that I want to add, from the current balance to get the sum. I had cloud backup with it. It was nice to see my growth and what accounts were doing well. 0 Stars - However, woke up a couple weeks ago opened the app and all the data was gone. No big deal, I can just open the settings and resync everything. Nope, the cloud backup had no data. So years worth of work entering my data down the drain, or lost in the clouds in this case. So I guess I am going back to the old fashioned way of excel 😩🔫. **Developer response:** Hello, I'm sorry that you are faced with such a problem. In fact the data can't be removed by the app. You may not find your data only in two cases - if you were signed in via Apple / Google / Facebook and then reinstalled the app or change the device. This is for security reasons, and all you need to do is log back into the same Apple / Google / Facebook account and select Cloud data. Please let me know what you did to get such problem at support@balanceviewer.com, in case you didn't select sync local data, your data can be restored. I like the interface better than the app I currently use (which was a 1x pay, not subscription). But this app does not have export so no incentive for me to switch from the existing app I use, or to pay for a subscription. **Developer response:** Thanks for checking the app. Subscription allows us to continuously improve the app, pay for the services to have latest exchange rates, servers, licenses. Got a new phone and data didn’t transfer, sorry I purchased ### 1/5 — A few flaws *2023-02-26* A decent enough app but a few annoying issues. When entering UK equities and ETFs the app assumes that the data feed prices are in pounds whereas they are usually in pence. Consequently, to get the correct values entered you have to divide the number of units you own by 100. Slightly tedious and even more annoyingly it only seems to apply to some assets so you have to be careful. Secondly, in the main view, equities display the number of units rather than the market value which would seem the obvious choice. To see the value of equities/ETFs you have to click in and review. Again, seems unnecessary. Overall OK but not great. Especially for £12 a year. UPDATE: After entering my share portfolio, the numbers seemed odd. After an hour of investigating it became clear that certain UK equities are being treated as if they are priced in USD. So the price is being ‘converted’ into GBP in the total even though the original value already was GBP. Makes the totals nonsense and the app worthless. £12 wasted. (There is no 1 time fee regardless of what the fee is. For such a simple app it absolutely should not have a paid for subscription.) I highly do not recommend. Overall pretty useless AVOID **Developer response:** Hello Mike, the main reason we have a subscription is because so far this is only one way to ensure that our users have a stable app. By paying once we can't guarantee the application will be available in 5 years, since we have to pay for servers, currency exchange services, developer license and other things on a subscription in order for you to use the app. We focus on long-term relationships. The app allows you to have 5 accounts and check charts for the last 3 months for FREE! Also please note there is no Ads inside the app. We believe that £1 per month (for annual subscription) it's a fair price if you need unlimited numbers of accounts, synchronization and extended functionality and it helps us to develop new features and don't add annoying Ads as in many other apps. If all that you need from pro features is just add more accounts you can subscribe for at least one months to add all of them. We would be happy if you can change your rate.
