### 2/5 — The parent control feature is buggy

*2026-08-30, version 2.54.1*

Loses the ability to block in block devices. Annoying

### 3/5 — Assigning and Labeling is Difficult

*2026-08-28, version 2.54.1*

The orbi app tries to guess at what kind of device something is, and in doing so, often gets it wrong and makes it difficult to identify what the device actually is. It also fails to assign devices to a group at time for no apparent reason. I’d much rather do this kind of setup on a computer, but there doesn’t seem to be an option for that. It has potential, but it’s very unpolished from a user experience standpoint.

### 3/5 — Very very few updates functionality just OK. Dark mode, please!!!

*2026-08-27, version 2.54.1*

functionality is OK most of the time, but however since I’ve owned my Orbi mesh router for the last 4 years, there has only two firmware updates and no updates for this app that I’ve seen, and if you’re actually taking the time to read this developer, please create a DARK MODE PLEASE !!!!White mode is all washed out and it makes it very difficult to see the screen get with the times developer and update it finally once and for all and create a DARK MODE Please!!!!!

### 3/5 — Armor Security

*2026-08-25, version 2.54.1*

Dear Netgear, please fix notifications. Change it so it only notifies when issues are found, not when scans find “no issues”. What a nuisance.

### 3/5 — Almost good

*2026-08-25, version 2.54.1*

Great until I had to reset the router after wifi keeped dropping out randomly and would connect back onto devices

### 3/5 — Devices not showing

*2026-08-21, version 2.54.1*

Half of the time, there are no devices shown in the parental controls. The devices are there, and connected, but nothing shows in any of the profiles. They will reappear after refreshing and closing the app several times. Other than that, very good app.

### 4/5 — User

*2026-08-19, version 2.54.1*

I feel extremely safe with my NETGEAR Orbi system.

### 3/5 — Sporadic

*2026-08-18, version 2.54.1*

Worked when installed by tech for one day. Reset multiple times. Still not showing as working.

### 2/5 — App is not that great

*2026-08-16, version 2.54.1*

The network is fine. Needs rebooted occasionally but pretty good speed and coverage. But I periodically have to uninstall and reinstall the app because it just stops working.

### 3/5 — Mediocre

*2026-08-07, version 2.54.1*

I am using Orbi for last 5 years and coverage is not so great. It’s a small house but signal is very weak in the garage. Not worth the money.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Not what I was hoping for

*2026-08-30, version 2.54.1*

Upgrading from an old Orbi, I was hoping this would unlock my full fiver speed over WiFi, took over 3 hours to get setup and re-connect all my devices all over the house and the WiFi speed is not really any better than before and half what it should be. I am actually fuming!!! Thinking about sending it back as it’s not cheap 🤬

### 1/5 — VERY disappointed

*2026-08-30, version 2.54.1*

Nothing but trouble, spent way too much money “upgrading” my system and it is slow, constant disconnects and issues. Absolute trash

### 1/5 — Definite no

*2026-08-27, version 2.54.1*

This took numerous tries to install. It worked for 3 days before the WiFi network just disappeared and all our devices showed as offline, meanwhile the Orbi system shows everything is A-ok. Definitely not a system I’d buy again.

### 1/5 — Unreliable

*2026-08-24, version 2.54.1*

Will work very fast 1,250 Mbps but then drops to 50 Mbps. Connectivity from the Orbi to my service provider is always over 2,200 Mbps.

### 1/5 — More!

*2026-08-18, version 2.54.1*

Need better indexed logging and a way to truly control and segment bandwidth.

### 1/5 — Waste of time set-up

*2026-08-18, version 2.54.1*

Spent over forty minutes to end up where I was before I used the app. No benefit in having the app but abundance in annoying pop up messages. I did it all to figure out whether my system is running at 2.4 or 5MHz, and still don’t have an answer.

### 1/5 — Orbi 370 router is bad

*2026-08-15, version 2.54.1*

Have had better Netgear products. This one is bad. Devices get dropped and network devices like printers and speakers are not reachable many of the times.

### 1/5 — Horrible Support

*2026-08-11, version 2.54.1*

My parental controls stopped working even though I have paid for the premium subscription. Zero support. Chat won’t help, calling and waiting endlessly on hold. Who has all day to deal with these problems. What a joke.

### 1/5 — Nothing but Griftware

*2026-08-10, version 2.54.1*

Why do I need an app? Why have Netgear removed access to my router from my mobile browser? Why do I have to provide my personal details to connect to an app to connect to my own router?

Answer: Because Netgear have become a data harvesting company and are slowly trying to make routers a subscription service! No thanks. I vote with my wallet.

### 1/5 — Unreliable is the best thing about this app

*2026-08-10, version 2.54.1*

Of all the mesh systems I have used, the Orbi system has the worst mobile app by far. Connecting to the routers takes forever, saving changes takes longer or doesn’t happen, and parental controls only stop some network traffic.
For the cost of these systems, they should at least be user friendly. Orbi is not.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Netgear Orbi Wifi

*2026-08-30, version 2.54.1*

Great WiFi connection and long distance no issues with the mesh wifi.

### 5/5 — A++++

*2026-08-29, version 2.54.1*

A++++

### 5/5 — Wow

*2026-08-25, version 2.54.1*

Easy fast setup, great connectivity, highly recommend this product. 3 satellite system works seamlessly.

### 5/5 — amazing connection!

*2026-08-23, version 2.54.1*

i love when my wifi is all lubricated

### 5/5 — Oh my… wickedly sweet

*2026-08-23, version 2.54.1*

It was time to upgrade and I decided to drive the Cadillac. The Netgear Orbi 970 exceeded my expectations. More of a Ferrari! I couldn’t be more pleased. Clean set up; quick and intuitive interphase; simply brilliant. Don’t wait… go get yours now!

### 5/5 — Amazing Mesh System

*2026-08-22, version 2.54.1*

The easiest mesh system I have ever setup! So far I am extremely happy with the system. Only wish it was a bit easier to setup an IoT network.

### 5/5 — New system 870

*2026-08-21, version 2.54.1*

Great product easily set it up. I have had a number of Orbi systems. and they all have been very very good. I upgraded to the 870 for the new Wi-Fi six speed and the RB I had was about five years old and it was time to upgrade.

### 5/5 — Easy setup + 3x speeds

*2026-08-16, version 2.54.1*

I just switched over from my TP Link Deco mash network system to Orbi. I top speed closest to the router was only in the 200s and now I’m getting over 600mbps WiFi and about 2gbps wired.

Set up was easy and I love that Orbi is able to find and configure the other satellite mesh devices automatically

### 5/5 — New Orbi Router

*2026-08-12, version 2.54.1*

So far so good! Getting very good speed commensurate with internet plan.

### 5/5 — Lightning Fast

*2026-08-11, version 2.54.1*

I honestly can’t rate the NETGEAR Orbi WiFi system highly enough. It has been absolutely brilliant from day one.

The speeds are incredibly fast and consistent throughout the house, and most importantly, I’ve had no annoying dropouts or weak spots whatsoever. Devices connect seamlessly, everything stays stable, and whether I’m streaming, gaming, downloading or just using multiple devices at once, the Orbi handles it without breaking a sweat.

Setup and management through the app is straightforward, and once it’s running you can pretty much forget about it, which is exactly how WiFi should work. No constantly rebooting routers, reconnecting devices or wandering around the house trying to find the mystical spot where the internet decides to function. 😂

Super-fast speeds, excellent coverage, rock-solid reliability and zero dropouts.

An awesome WiFi system and easily one of the best upgrades I’ve made to my home network.

Highly recommended. 5 stars without hesitation.
