For whatever reason, the dev decided to use a square for adding new podcasts and a circle to take you to the "now playing" screen. After months of use, this is still confusing. Please, please, please use standard icons, Mr. Dev! There's absolutely no need to reinvent icons for commonly used functions, particularly when the icons are so abstract that they lose all meaning. This was a five star app before the odd UI updates. ### 3/5 — High hopes but we must part *2014-10-20, version 19* I had high hopes for this app. Maybe it was just too simplistic in its approach. But when improvements are seen as step backs by many users and bugs continue to crawl its time to say goodbye. If you listen to under 10 podcasts this app may suffice but when you want an app that gives you a simple layout, intuitive controls, with more powerful features try a more popular app. I recommend PodCruncher. Goodbye ;( -------////-------/////----- Buggy update. Podcasts not remembering play position when paused for a long time or when switching from one podcast to another. Edit** I should add that I use bluetooth headphones to pause and continue. Worked fine before last 2 updates (I didnt update last time so I am not sure if the bug started this update or last) Pls fix. Other wise 4 1/2 stars. Older--- Thanks for listening. However update made all previously listened to podcasts to be reset to some random time remaining. Ability to mark podcasts played has also been removed. Request: Please include a switch or some way to turn on and off downloading for each podcast. It doesn't have the smarts to serve podcasts based on interest but at least it offers a clean way of consuming new episodes. I have been bouncing between different podcasts apps, but this is by far the easiest to use and beautifully designed. *1 April 2014. And updates continue flowing. Excellent app! ** 28 July 2014. Brilliant work by the developer! ### 4/5 — Meh~ *2014-07-28, version 17* There is a fine line with simplicity and lacking of features, this app rides dangerously on that line. And for all the features(or lack of) this app offers, it just doesn't stack up to its competitors. It is certainly a decent looking app though, I like the design. There are some things that I don't like about this app, such as: 1. The controls are not obvious with no hint of any clear function at all, it might be obvious to the dev or power users, but to normal people, it is hard to use. 2. The fact that "this app has no settings" is in the features list is pretty sad, some settings is always better than no settings. The support from the dev is surprisingly quick, so if you have any questions, you will get a good and fast response from the dev if you email. The price is still left to be justified, at the time of this review it is $3.99 which in my opinion, is too expensive considering its competitors' pricing. In the end I think this app is everything it says it is, if you want a really barebones app with beautiful UI and basic functionalities, this is for you. If you need anything more than that, look some where else. ### 5/5 — Great *2014-07-26* Love it. Simple and clean UI. No function evident to download episodes. Episode titles don't show in most episodes. Descriptions appear from the end, not leaving space for the title (a very uninformative, ugly sight). 2. No control over data usage. 3. The thing with having to tap, as opposed to the previous swipe, to download the other reviewer to talks about here is also extremely annoying. ### 1/5 — Really free? Buggy ### 1/5 — kind of hard to believe *2014-04-27, version 1.0.11* how useless this is. ### 1/5 — Unclear Description *2014-02-27, version 1.0.8* I just hit 275% on my data usage for this month because while i was out today this app downloaded 4 podcasts. I asked a few people to read the description and tell me what it meant to see if I was alone in my interpretation, and we all agreed that it sounds like this app will wait to download over wi-fi. That is definitely not the case. I'll be deleting it immediately. ### 1/5 — Needs work, or instructions *2014-02-21, version 1.0.8* I downloaded this and found no way to import an OPML file. So I went to downcast and exported into Network. It found all the podcasts, but only downloaded three out of 21. The next day, when 16 more were updated, it did not download them or make their icon color. Tapping on a greyed out icon I found previous episodes which I could stream, but not download. It could not find today’s episodes on over half of my podcasts. I know they can be found because downcast found them and downloaded them just fine. So I think this needs work or instructions. Since it will not find and download all my podcasts, it is useless. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Best Podcsst App *2020-11-13, version 28* I've been using this for podcasts for years. It does everything I want, doesn't hide features behind paywalls, and looks beautiful while doing it. Every once in a while, I'll go look at lists of best podcast apps, and try some of the ones listed as best. I always come back to this one. I'm not saying it's perfect. I wish some of the navigation were at the bottom of the screen, rather than the top, so it would be easy to reach when using one-handed. And I wish you didn't get buried in nested menus sometimes. This isn't a concern for me because I do my podcast discovery outside the app, but it probably isn't great if you don't know what you want to listen to. But if you know what you want to listen to, want to have access to tools like playback speed adjustment, sleep timers, and control of skip forward and back intervals, and want your app to look good while offering reliable downloads and playback, this app deserves a try. Should be way higher ranked than it is. ### 5/5 — Simple, perfect. *2020-08-13, version 28* No bugs found yet. No unnecessary features or clutter. No complaints. Nothing to attend to, no decisions to make. Just launch it, see freshly updated subscriptions lit up in color, listen to them. Genius. I was skeptical about how useful it would be due to the minimal design, but after using it for a few days I realize it covers every feature I actually care about. The interface is simple, yet attractive, and all the information you need about every podcast is presented clearly and concisely.
