Over all worth the cost once you learn it. Would be great if you could select an automation after reaching a predefined trigger like “After my car finishes charging, reset my Powerwall from “Maintain Charge” to “Self Powered” so I don’t have to tap the grid at night once my car finishes charging. ### 5/5 — An absolute must *2026-07-04* After Tesla replaced our PW2 with a 3, I found the software was costing us money, not saving it; the new algorithm, simply put is garbage. I gave it a few months to see if it would 'learn' but it actually got worse! That's when I found Netzero. Netzero puts control over your expensive in your hands, not Tesla's. Since using it I have set up rules that govern how the battery works in ways the Tesla system never could or would, in turn saving us a lot of money... like you'd expect. It will not do eye recognition nor does it remember my password. But it is useful so I am persevering. Tim In 2026, just had a repeat of this problem and it took two days to restore access. The problem is in the Tesla part of logging on, but this is still part of NetZero app. Tim ### 4/5 — If you have a Tesla Powerwall, you need this app! *2026-06-11* You really need this app to control the battery properly to manage the tariff structures. The automations are fantastic. So good that you can input time, backup charge, usage, grid charge, energy flows. I only wish there were: if x then y possibilities at a particular point in time rather than energy flows crossing thresholds. Also helps with automating the Tesla configuration. Have my ID.4 connected as well. It integrates well with Intelligent Octopus Go if you use the paid version and found it invaluable when I had some smart meter issues to prove to Octopus what I exported. It also performs cost calculations. I have recently connected my Heat pump to the app, though automation is currently limited, hopefully this will develop in time ### 3/5 — Gone wonky *2026-06-07, version 2.5.6* I really like the app…. That said it’s gone wonky lately. It is displaying the wrong dates info. Today’s data displays yesterday, until it suddenly flips to today’s at random intervals. Then when I swipe to yesterday it shows some previous days data. I have to go to monthly chart to get the correct day totals. The App gives me all the info I want, runs seamlessly in the background or gives me the automations which are simple to set up and enable me to run my Solar/EV/House and exports exactly as I want to. Instead I needed to retest the Tesla app and categorically establish how much value I was gaining. After a full month I have my initial ‘real’ assessment. The flexibility of Netzero is undeniable. The native Tesla app is as annoying as ever. But from an entirely monetary perspective, with a bit of breaking to my rates I’ve seen no material change in my recovery, and certainly nothing to materially offset the subscription charge. I fully appreciate why Netzero were forced to go this way, but it looks like these API charges make any business case for this app unviable, which is a real shame. Really sorry guys- love your work and what you’ve tried to do, but you’re being squeezed out of the market. Original Review: I’ve been using this for 9 months now- it’s a real game changer and plugs some serious holes in the core Tesla powerwall control capability. The flexibility is second to none and the support provided is amazing - well worth a 5 star review. But now we need a subscription to take advantage of this. Don’t get me wrong, it’s worthy of a subscription - I’d been expecting this for a while and I’d gladly pay, but the fee is way over the top. I’m seriously going to have to reevaluate whether this is driving enough value on balance. Times are hard for everyone - Guys, thanks so much for all of your hard work and innovation but seriously, please reconsider the price you are asking people to pay! **Developer response:** Thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately the subscription rates are required to sustain app development -- automations incur infrastructure and Tesla API costs. ### 1/5 — Total rubbish *2025-08-31, version 2.1.9* We are paying for this app now, and the basic function of switch back the original reserve limit after IOG slots does NOT work ### 1/5 — Was a great free app *2025-08-30, version 2.1.9* This app was great and got a lot of 5 star reviews before they decided to limit most of the features that makes a usable app. The bad thing is that with no warning all features that were being used ie useful have been changed to paid service or pro so it’s pretty useless now as a free app. The cost of mindlessly changing all functionality results in a or lots of high electric bills if it is not noticed. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — It does everything I need it to do *2026-08-12* This app just keeps getting better and better with every update, it now allows you to export directly from your Powerwall to the grid which also prioritises exporting solar to the grid, so that enables you to keep your Powerwall below 80% and send your maximum export to the grid (which in my case is 5kW) and then any excess charges the Powerwall. This will stop any clipping of solar production, which is lost energy and money in your pocket. To do this with the Tesla app you have to rely on their algorithm to do this when it is in saving mode, this rarely happens and you have no control. Have been using this app for just over a year and I can honestly say that I am not disappointed with the results I am getting. Everything I need is here to optimise my system and get the best returns from exports and control of how I want my system to work, yes it costs but you get what you pay for and if it was free you would be the product. Thank you Netzero please keep up the excellent service. This is the only time I have ever left a review on anything, that how impressed I am. **Developer response:** Thanks for the review! ### 5/5 — Great control and management of powerwall *2026-08-11, version 2.6.2* I can’t believe Tesla has not brought this app to integrate into their system. The app allows you to program your powerwall to make the best of savings and self power. It does it all automatically once you have your programs set. Easy to use and allows far greater monitoring of your solar system. I have 3 strings of panels and Netzero allows me to monitor them individually where as the Tesla app only shows a total output. I use both apps to monitor the system but Netzero gives a lot more control and information.
