### 3/5 — Still Has Bugs

*2026-03-06*

I like the app. Who doesn’t love Gregorian Chant by actual nuns and monks? However, the continual play feature does not work for me. This severely limits my enjoyment and use of the app. I like that I’m supporting the two religious organizations, but may look for an alternative if the app isn’t updated to fix the bugs.

### 3/5 — Needs work. A lot of it.

*2025-11-17*

Great ideea. Not ready for prime. Kind of unusable and convoluted. I'm a paying sub. Will not rewnew due to these reasons.

**Developer response:** Please reach out to let us know what issues you encountered.

### 4/5 — Subscription model for all features - Free content is great

*2025-04-15*

***Updating from 2 stars to 4 stars*** Spring 2025 After receiving a response from the developer, and redownloading the app, I find that I can now access the content of the given hour of prayer. (previously I was unable to access the hourly chant without first creating an account, but I think that this problem was fixed by updating my iPad to the latest version - something I’m often loathe to do; but that is no fault of the developer). The app is as described, and is indeed the only accessible recording of all of the chants. And to have it sung by the faithful of this Benedictine community is another triumph for the app. There is also a download feature for any given chant; but it seems you cannot download a full day at a time, or a full week at a time. Being in an industry which sends me to odd places in the world and often on flights and on ships without internet, it would be an incredible feature to include (I realize 9000 hours of recordings can’t fit onto any normal device; and it might take a lot of work to create some sort of alternative where only a few days or a week could be downloaded at a time). ***But now I will also include a bit of criticism. While it is a blessing (and I mean it, this work is momentous), the price of $7.99 per month to access everything is something I am unwilling to do. For that I would need professional recordings. And while the recordings are good; it is several notches down from professional, both the quality of the recording itself, and the quality of the singing. It is beautiful, reverent, and to be there in person would be divine. But I cannot justify paying $7.99 per month to continually have access. I would pay $1.00 for the rest of my life; but as it stands, for $7.99 I can purchase a premium music subscription, or I could buy a premium sheetmusic subscription; or for $50 I could own forever several hundreds of hours of chant and follow it with a $10 book which I own, and never need to pay again, or to lose service when I’m offline. *** All of this to say; as a free app, its really fantastic. I am very thankful for it. I would give it 5 stars if this were only a free app with the free features. But since the app contains so much promise, with such a hefty recurring price, without ever owning anything; simply renting the ability to listen, I will keep the review at 4 stars.***** Below you will see my previous 2 star review from a month or so ago: Please excuse this low-review, but I think I have good reasons. I will haply upgrade my review to 4 stars if it was possible to at least sample it without having to pay. I would increase to 5 Stars if I could purchase content outright (instead of paying a subscription - happy to pay more for more content as it is released). Once you download the app, you will find that you are unable to listen to or view anything until you have created an account. You cannot sign in with Apple ID, but must create an account manually. Then you must wait (apparently) until the exact time that the particular mass or chant you wish to listen to occurs in real time. That is to say, it is currently 7:17am and I am unable to access any of the content. In order to access any of it even to sample, I must pay $7.99 just to try it for one month. This resource description is amazing. I would love to give it a try. But I’m not interested in a subscription model in which I do not own the rights and to which I could lose them at any time (such as when I am deployed by the military without internet for months - or at the whim of anyone who gains control of the app in the future who doesn’t have the heart of the creators and decides to place more restrictions on its use. I have seen it happen to other apps). Dear Brothers and Sisters of the Abbey; I respectfully request you make this app less money-centric. A laborer is worthy of his wages. Please offer 1)Samples to any user who downloads. 2) The ability to purchase forever music with options to purchase more as it is released or new features are added. 3) An option to donate on a recurring basis [which I would also happily do!]. Blessings - J. Michael

**Developer response:** You can follow the offices hour by hour and day by day with a free account. Yes, internet is required, but we feel this is the best way to offer the liturgy as widely as possible to those who use it to pray meanwhile offering a paid service that can support the communities and cover some of the cost of creating and maintaining the app itself.

### 3/5 — Coughing & Clearing Throats

*2024-12-17*

Please, could you ask those singers who are being captured on these recordings to dismiss themselves from being recorded as it is a terrible distraction to the beauty of the chant. Thank you for your consideration as I hope to one day become a patron of Neumz as I myself am a member of our parish’s Schola for TLM.

### 4/5 — Beautiful

*2023-07-07*

This app is great. It is basically the Novus Ordo mixed with the Benedictine Divine Office. Thankfully also I have heard, that there will be a fully Vetus Ordo option with the specific office of Prima in the fall. Overall great app. It’s a new app and still going through its early development but it is overall well done.

Thanks.

**Developer response:** Hello, thanks! Prime was surpressed and it’s psalms folded into lauds and other offices in the novus ordo, but starting this fall we will be integrating also the vetus ordo including of course prime!

### 4/5 — Beautiful But Missing Prima

*2023-07-05*

Hello developers,

This app is a beautiful app, but it misses the office of Prima, which is one of the greatest offices.

Thanks.

**Developer response:** Hello, thanks! Prime was surpressed and it’s psalms folded into lauds and other offices in the novus ordo, but starting this fall we will be integrating also the vetus ordo including of course prime!

### 4/5 — An amazing resource

*2022-05-29*

What a gift!

…. Except that the autoscroll feature hides the neums that I’m supposed to be singing! I’m sure it’s complex to get things to line up on all the different screens, and I’m sure they’re working on a fix, but the app is frustrating to the point of being unusable for me on my iphone.

I hope the makers are able to allocate more resources for the development of this incredible offering.

**Developer response:** Hello, just to let you know soon we will be publishing a fix for the sync issues!

### 3/5 — Dommage

*2021-08-15*

### 4/5 — Svelte but looking forward to continued development

*2021-05-20*

I like this app and the concept is amazing. It’s very lovely to see the translations light up as the text is sung.

I have a few quibbles that I hope get worked out in the course of time:
1-often the chant notation doesn’t sync up correctly. Often it only appears on screen after the text has been sung because it scrolls too slowly. If you’d like to sing along sometimes you’re plum out of luck.
2-the image of the chant scores appears to be a scrolling image file, rather than clean vector graphics (gabc code, for instance) which is annoying.
3-you can’t override auto scroll; since the speed isn’t correct this is frustrating. (And I wish there was an option to have the image flash rather than scroll; constant scrolling can be very taxing after a while. People with car sickness may struggle.)

I imagine many of these things will be worked out eventually. Regardless, it’s a great resource as is and it’s an excellent way to peer in on the monastic life and get a sense of their prayer. It’s also a great way to absorb the lived rhythm and cadences of chant by people who do it every day.

**Developer response:** Thanks for the review and suggestions - we are working on improving synch in the short term with finer grained control for us to override when it gets off. In the long term we are working on a way of natively rendering the GABC as you suggest. At this point we can also consider flashing rather than scrolling, thank you for this suggestion. In the meantime there is the ability to take the score full screen which I hope alleviates the problem when it occurs. We have a long ways to go but a roadmap for getting there!

### 4/5 — Great source for the liturgy of the hours

*2021-04-17*

However, lately I can hear this music in the background which I find distracting from prayer, other than that beautiful experience, it’s like being at the abbey praying along with the nuns.

### 5/5 — Glad I found this app

*2021-03-04*

So Beautiful! for a long time I was looking for something like this, gives me so much peace. Thank you

**Developer response:** Thank you for the positive feedback!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Unreal (in a bad way)

*2025-09-03*

Everything is behind a paywall except the missal. As if we need YET ANOTHER missal available.

**Developer response:** You have misunderstood - the novus ordo is available with Masses and all Offices. The free version limits you to the office of the current time of day. In the Vetus Odro currently only the Masses are available as we are still integrating the offices. That’s not a question of paywall but of our work! By end of year we should have all masses and vespers. The Novus Ordo is complete.

### 1/5 — Broke

*2024-12-04*

Thanks for breaking this app so we are forced to pay for subscription. May almighty God show mercy

**Developer response:** Hello, nothing of the sort has occurred, we have the same policy as always: free for the current office, subscription buys you play on demand and other features. Nothing has changed! Two-thirds of revenues support the communities.

### 1/5 — Broken

*2024-12-02*

It appears that the application is no longer functioning. Following the suggestion to select the calendar, the only available option is to download the file, which requires a subscription. Unfortunately, streaming and viewing capabilities are no longer accessible.

**Developer response:** We have had no other similar complaints, please write to info@neumz.com to explain the malfunction and we will try to resolve the problem.

### 1/5 — Appalling and non Christian

*2024-11-12, version 4.1*

Clearly Christianity has come to an end when you download an app and not even a small section is given to you for free. I am poor and cannot afford anything. But there should be some options for the lovers off God and religious chants to receive. This is the teaching of Jesus. If you don’t believe in him, stop chanting his name.

### 1/5 — Scrolling not synced

*2022-08-15, version 3.1*

The score scrolls faster than the music. Can’t read the notes as the music is playing, makes it pointless for me.

### 1/5 — Warum kann ich mich nicht registrieren? Alles versucht

*2022-02-23*

**Developer response:** Hello, it should be possible to create a new account either inside the app or on our website. Please write us if you have difficulties.

### 1/5 — Gros problème

*2021-01-11*

### 2/5 — Payment required before any access	- Subscription Model

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Greatest App of All Time

*2025-08-06*

Priceless! God bless everyone who contributed to this.

### 5/5 — The only app you need for the Divine Office

*2025-04-11, version 4.4*

Having recently returned from a retreat in a Benedictine monastery, I set to find an which could help me continue the experience - to some degree.
I tried several applications but all fell short: Latin only, English only, no music, music only but no text.
This is the only app which brings together the liturgy of the hour, the text in both Latin and the language of your choice, and includes the beautiful singing of the nuns.

### 5/5 — Zum Beten und Meditieren

*2024-11-10*

### 5/5 — A blessing this Lent 2023

*2023-02-25*

A beautiful compilation and a true gift from the sisters to the world. Many many thanks as these chants accompany on my Lenten journey this year.

**Developer response:** Thank you!

### 5/5 — Gesucht, gefunden

*2022-06-12*

### 5/5 — Devine office prayer book

*2021-12-23*

I LOVE this app and have been using it everyday. I am a person that loves the feel of a book in my hand. Is it possible to purchase the copy of Devine office that the sisters use? Their chants do not line up with any of my devine office copies and I know it’s because the sisters are using a devine office made for monastic use. The problem that I’m having is I want the exact copy the sister’s use so I can go along. I will pay any price and buy from any source. Thank you!

### 5/5 — Geniale App!

*2021-11-19*

Echt jetzt?

### 5/5 — Amazing Treasure of the Faith

*2021-07-24*

This app is a huge gift to humanity! Whether you are learning to chant, wanting to incorporate it into a daily practice or stuck in a parish without chant this app gives you the opportunity to practice with beautiful recordings perfectly lined up with the liturgical year.

Since it’s still a work in progress there are some features that will get better with time. It will be fantastic when the search function works well. It would also be great if at some point in addition to searching you could look through an index alphabetical by function (hymn, introit, communion etc). There is the occasional issue with a psalm verse being a different melodically than the recording (example psalm tone written but melismatic line sung) and rarely a screen showing the next chant and stays there until the correct chant is sung.

No complaints at all though, so happy to have this amazing resource! It’s a must for all Catholics.

### 5/5 — Thank you

*2021-06-25*

Thank you so much for your work in making this app happen. It is a gift to us and I am looking forward to years of use.

**Developer response:** Thank you!

### 5/5 — Wow!

*2021-03-24, version 2.1*

What an unexpectedly wonderful app!
I saw a random advert for this is and it intrigued me as love meditating and relaxing to Gregorian chant and church type music.
So I downloaded it and it surpassed my expectations, in terms of usability and content.
Great little app.
Whether you use it for religious purposes or simply to relax with and contemplate, really beautiful.
God bless to the creators of it.
Thank you.
