### 4/5 — Bot doesn’t know what a period is

*2025-08-29*

Every time I post something for the bot to read, it calls a period a dot instead of pausing and it’s very frustrating. I like the app but this is something that really needs to change

**Developer response:** We are very sorry for the inconvenience caused by the recent bug where periods were read out as “dot” and pauses at punctuation were missing. This issue has now been fixed. If you generate new audio, sentences will pause naturally and periods will no longer be pronounced.
We truly appreciate your patience and support while we resolved this.

### 3/5 — No highlight feature

*2025-08-27, version 2.4.17*

The app needs to be able to highlight text as it reads it. So users know where they are in their reading.

### 4/5 — Good but with faults

*2024-04-05, version 2.4.2*

It's one of the best to choose but makes mistakes when coming to different features of sentences. Mathematical components can be ignored especially powers so incorrectly reads a sun then can read abreviations as a non existent word in the sentence at times while another time as the abbreviation even if they are common. It also rapidly reads through bullet points never pausing one after another as they should be heard as separate sentences. Sometimes the GB voices are making pronounciation of specific words how an American or some other country would pronounce it not UK English. This is all no different on the internet browser installed or pc downloaded versions do make mistakes. If these mistakes were tidied up it would be perfected widening it's capabilities so reducing all the mistakes I've experienced it making.

### 3/5 — Why dose it do this?

*2023-08-16, version 2.3.15*

So this is personally the BEST app I have used to get physical assignments read off to me, but at the same time their is a problem. Whenever I take a photo and get it translated, it reads the bottom and then starts at the top. I have no idea why it dose that but I would like ti know if I’m being stupid or if it’s the app.

### 3/5 — Could be better

*2023-03-21, version 2.3.15*

It’s one of the best I have found in terms of voice and how natural it sounds HOWEVER it does skip some parts of the text (like a bulletpoint that begins after the column sign)

I found It’s not ideal for extraction of text from a book with images like a textbook for example.
And it’s such a shame.

If these minor issues are fixed I don’t mind the PRO price of 15$pm (or 116$ for the year)

I will update the review the more I use it.

### 2/5 — The communication is good but the price is ridiculous.

*2023-01-10, version 2.3.13*

$30 usd for 120,000 words is absurd, I can’t even get through a book with that.
They should have an option for unlimited.

### 3/5 — Demi

*2022-06-23, version 2.2.2*

Used the demo and as everyone else said the voices are pretty amazing BUT the pricing is absurd. The monthly’s are only their to get you to go yearly an the platinum is twice as much as an Amazon prime membership!! Sometimes it’s smarter for companies to charge a reasonable price and get far more subscribers. Your going to have to make an unlimited version with a reasonable price if you want to dominate this space.

### 3/5 — Not Free

*2022-05-10, version 2.2.1*

This is a natural voice and sounds great but there is a subscription needed.

So if you are looking a free TTS don’t bother.

### 5/5 — Most natural voice

*2022-05-02, version 2.2.1*

I never give reviews, but I had to give one to this app. The voices are so natural!

### 4/5 — Sounds natural but could use some changes

*2022-04-17, version 2.1.7*

Wish it auto-scrolled and highlighted while reading. Also the Pro version only reading 6k words is kind of annoying. 10-20k words would be more reasonable. It also seems to have trouble detecting how certain words should be pronounced depending on context.

### 2/5 — Subscription only

*2022-04-04, version 2.1.6*

Would have been better to tell us that it is subscription only or limited to 100 words. Sounds good but not at the expense.

### 4/5 — Please add Dropbox support

*2022-03-29, version 2.1.6*

The voices are amazing. If I could import my Dropbox files to the app that would help a lot. Currently I have to upload to iCloud Drive or transfer onto the iPad hard drive.

### 4/5 — Great idea

*2022-02-27, version 2.1.1*

Seems like such a good idea for an app, I hope they will add more languages!

### 4/5 — Second month user

*2022-02-15*

I found it will jump reading when the picture not take straight. And hope it still can be edit after convert to reading, cause sometimes missing some words

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Grace and Benjamin were removed

*2026-02-14, version 2.4.21*

Why were the bots grace and Benjamin removed. Those two in my opinion were the absolute best to use, and now I can’t use them anymore, is there a reason for this?

### 1/5 — DO NOT BUY

*2024-12-18, version 2.4.11*

$12 a month for limited words. NO

### 1/5 — Trash for textbooks

*2023-09-14, version 2.3.15*

Won’t upload the full page and cuts out words

### 1/5 — Frustrating

*2023-08-19, version 2.3.15*

I can’t even get past the first gate and I’m. Supposed to be getting a correct code to put into the entryway to the app and nothing. I just keep having to hit resend a no code comes.

### 1/5 — Stated free on google

*2023-06-07, version 2.3.15*

Should be an app of its word. I pasted a short story and immediately got hit with a sign up page and then 80 a year. This is why android is better imho. There are enough apps there to get what you want free and especially when advertised as such. This company is in business to market and sell… they can control the ads. Misleading and lying.

### 1/5 — bait and switch

*2022-07-13, version 2.3.5*

only 200 words for free

### 1/5 — You can use your phone to read

*2022-01-29*

You don’t need an app, your phone has had a feature to read out loud anything, including kindle book. On iPhones/iPad it’s called “Spoken Content” under Accessibility in Settings. Or simply lookup on you tube” how to get your iPhone to read kindle books aloud”

### 1/5 — In app purchases

*2021-12-31, version 2.0.26*

Better free options available

### 1/5 — Works well but

*2021-12-28*

Fools you into making an account before telling the price.

### 1/5 — Question

*2021-12-20*

Why is there on display for all the different ratings?

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Pronunciation rong

*2026-06-16, version 2.4.23*

Nanami can’t pronounce when she’s talking in Japanese but only some words

### 5/5 — No Other Text to Voice Reader Comes Close

*2022-09-05, version 2.3.9*

I find it much easier to absorb what I am reading if I have a voice reading the text to me. I have used Audible with many of my books but a great deal of their readers are very hard to listen to. I have found that with Neural Reader the U.K. voice of George is perfect for everything I read. Other voices are very good also but George stands out to me as the best of all.

### 5/5 — The app has been running steadily for a long time ‌

*2022-09-01, version 2.3.9*

Be cute and don't disturb. The software is easy to use! Easy to use! Praise one! ‌  ‍

### 5/5 — Almost every day on, looking forward to bringing us more surprises!     ‍

*2022-09-01, version 2.3.9*

So many people are using it. It's really good. I've been using it to enjoy working overtime. There's no problem at all!    ‍

### 5/5 — Great support!

*2022-09-01, version 2.3.9*

Very easy to use software, it's amazing!!!

### 5/5 — Very good software

*2022-09-01, version 2.3.9*

You can really use it yourself.

### 5/5 — Great help     ‍

*2022-08-26, version 2.3.8*

I'm the kind of person who gets so caught up in the words that I forget to edit things like grammar, spelling, and word choice. Neural Reader has helped me with my editing process, and I have found so many mistakes that I would never have caught.

### 5/5 — Greata app!

*2022-08-18, version 2.3.8*

I love this app! It is so easy to use, and the voice sounds natural. I have a few apps that do the same thing, but this one is the best. The other apps make my voice sound like a robot or a child, but the Neural Reader gives it a natural voice. I am a voiceover artist, and I have a natural-sounding voice, so I just want an app that can turn my voice into text, and this one is great!    ‍ ‌

### 5/5 — Effective ‌ ‍

*2022-08-17, version 2.3.8*

This tool is handy for reading textbooks. In my case, I am studying law and want to take notes. The app is effective. I do not have to use my eyes. It has saved me a lot of time.

### 5/5 — Satisfied user

*2022-08-15, version 2.3.8*

I'm a professor and want to use my tablet to teach my students. This app lets me read my notes to the class. I'm pleased about that. ‍
