From a 5-star easy recommendation, to a 2-star shrug. ### 2/5 — Fantastic game until the overhaul *2026-04-18, version 4.27.16* I’m not sure what necessitated an overhaul to make the game less convenient to play and the temporary loss of previously implemented factions and features but whatever it is the benefit has not been visible to the user. ### 3/5 — Got worse with the update *2025-05-01* I loved the original game. The new version, a few years ago, came with less armies (although two new armies appeared later), a pretty weak AI and only a 1-2 player option, instead of 4 players, which is being promised to be upcoming…for years now. The sfx got worse too. 😢 Don‘t get me wrong, it‘s still a good game; Just not as good, as it was before, from my pov. It was one of the first games I got for my iPod years and years ago along with carcassone. Imagine my surprise when I downloaded this (ahem) “UPDATED” version only to find that they seem to have gotten a child to redo all the artwork really badly, my old armies had to be bought again and now the ai has become rubbish and slow. Not to mention multiplayer seems to only be for 2 players… What? Did they lose the rights to the art? Did they need to redesign it so it could data mine me in the background or something? It’s completely baffling. A brilliant game that was pretty much released in perfect condition, has been (ahem) “updated” to something that feels like a beta test… Oh well at least carcassone hasn’t, been rui….. AH WHAT THE HELL? ### 2/5 — AI error *2025-01-24, version 4.27.16* Hard to play solo as the bot continuously draws advantageous tiles while human player only receives bonus tiles and no actual units. By the time you’re 3 turns in you are reduced and not much fun to play uncompetitive matches even against the bot ### 1/5 — You took away the armies that I paid for. They made the UI much more unintuitive and worst of all, the AI is now terrible and the gameplay is soooo much slower. Partisans isn't much fun to play or play against. I'm okay with repurchasing everything, but really want more of the old armies and ability to play vs two AIs ### 1/5 — They stole money and abandoned the game *2024-10-01* Sure, transitions between groups owning a game can be rough. That’s no excuse after it’s been YEARS since the transition. Several things people paid for in the original have not been re-implemented with no refunds (which on it’s own opens them up to lawsuits if anyone felt it was actually worth the trouble). They have given up on adding any of the old features the app used to have leaving it a shell of it’s former self. I don’t use this word lightly but what they did is literally illegal and would not hold up in court. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Add the armies we paid for! *2026-03-25* This app is a scam and appears to have been intended that way. Not only did players that had armies they already paid for removed (including me) but it appears there was never intent to finish this. The old version was objectively better, but if this got ALL armies physically released for the board game to date, that’d be AWESOME. But it looks to be abandoned. Don’t support this unless they start releasing new armies for it again. ### 1/5 — waited all these years… *2026-03-13, version 4.27.16* i bought all the expansions and now the game i purchased is gone and replaced with this garbage. devs are slimey to say the least. don’t spend any time or money with portal games unless its physical copies. ### 1/5 — Poor form *2026-03-06* App was great, then it got a lower quality full rewrite, with the majority of DLC people paid for being unavailable. Then they launched new DLC even with the old stuff still not re-implemented. Graphic got messy, game got slower and now you can’t even play 1v2 or 3 AIs, which was very entertaining. Why? ### 1/5 — Rip-Off *2025-10-27* This used to be one of my favorite IOS games. A few years ago, the company removed all of the DLC armies we paid for, promising to restore them in a future update. As of today, they still haven’t restored all of the content, yet they continue to release new armies to pay for. ### 1/5 — Used to be good *2025-10-25* Pretty much what the title says. The game used to be good but the devs changed the UI and art style completely and not for the better unfortunately. Found it on the App Store two weeks ago and have played it over 100 times already. To the Devs, this game is great, and I ask that you finish the app fully if you can please. Add the ability to play with up to six players/ai, a bigger board, and with the other modes included in the original game please. For those that haven’t played this award winning board game turned iPhone strategy game before, do yourself a favor and give it a try. What we’d love to see as a loyal fanbase: - Reimplementation of the factions, I & many of us have already paid for- especially the plant one! There are so many great ones I miss so badly! - No extra button press when it is our turn. - More varied animations (everything is either a nudge or explosion). - Why not ad more, variable backgrounds? Wouldn’t it be pretty easy to hire an artist to just have some different background wallpapers that switch out? - These are just off the top of my head. I’m not trying to say I’m representing an all encompassing list of ideas from my fellow players. Bonus: What about even newer factions we haven’t seen before on iOS?!
