### 4/5 — Great game but just not excellent

*2022-02-08, version 1.2.0*

Let me first say that the story and world building is superb. Where I started to get frustrated was I felt that this could have easily been a game without combat. Bosses were painfully easy and the final boss was just tedious. Jump puzzles are fine, but I found myself spending a long time doing the same thing over and over till my thumbs hurt (failing to make a jump or something). I enjoyed the puzzles but the combat seemed unnecessary.

### 4/5 — Interesting game

*2021-12-15, version 1.2.0*

Overall the game was very enjoyable! I think it’s straightforward enough to not need a tutorial, and it’s just difficult enough that you sometimes need to think out parts instead of being a mind-numbing game or making you want to rage quit.

But I do wish that some parts of the storyline were clearer, especially the ending. SPOILER AHEAD.
If I’m understanding it correctly, wren does die but later as an adult and now Peet is in a coma struggling with the grieving process. But does he wake up to find that Wren is actually alive and it was all a nightmare? Or does he die and meet wren in the afterlife (considering that it ends with her saying “wake up”)? Why are the grownups zombies? How did the different parents turn into their monsters? Does peet ever deal with basically killing the other kids parents? Do the now-adult kids know that Peet was their doctor? And if they do, why do they recognize Peet as a child? Why is Dr. Smile a spider like thing??

I just wish that I wasn’t left with as many questions about the storyline.

### 4/5 — Good but needs fixes

*2020-08-02, version 1.0.2*

Great game!! A few bugs in the dialogue. Sometimes the dialogue automatically is triggered just by passing a character even after the second time passing you have to sit through the same dialogue sequence. Specifically in the cemetery and I’m being asked about swing a bat while on the vines. Also I finished the game and I started a new slot to unlocknew achievements but after beating Granny, freaking Bird won’t let me into the asylum saying it’s too early to be there. I’m pretty sure it’s Blackfork asylum after beating granny right? Please fix this. I can’t progress through the game!!

### 5/5 — Awesome, perfect amount of dark humor!

*2020-07-20, version 1.0.2*

This is the best game I’ve played on iOS (name dropping here) since Limbo and Inside. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE give us more!!!!!!! Neversong 2....a sequel....I’ve played the whole thing 3 times already, but I crave another Neversong!!!!!!!!!!!! This game is too perfect. Dr. Smile is an amazing boss, but the other bosses were equally creepy, and even better they made me laugh. Thank you so much for creating this game which I absolutely LOVE. And please......MORE!

### 5/5 — Gorgeous and frustrating

*2020-07-18, version 1.0.2*

I love finding and playing new games, and this looks like a fabulous story. Everything about it - the look, the feel, the narrative, the music and ambient sound - is incredible.

However, progressing past the first major puzzle is proving to be practically impossible. I figured out the puzzle itself fairly quickly, but the mechanics have proven to be so frustrating that I’ve stopped playing.

I’m writing this in the hopes that the developers might be willing to take this into consideration and somehow offer a slightly less frustrating experience for those who want to enjoy the story without the element of trying the same jump over and over and over and over and over again without progressing.

I really want to play more.

### 5/5 — trouble porgressing

*2020-07-13, version 1.0.2*

While i was able to play the game i loved it immensely. i never got to finish it because i got angry that i died and deleted the save so i could start anew. once i got into the new save i was not able to progress past peet’s mind, and i still am not able to. i hope that it can be fixed, because this game is beautifully made and it was really fun while i had the chance to play.

### 5/5 — Challenging and fun

*2020-07-02, version 1.0.2*

The game is absolutely spectacular from the art to gameplay. While the some things were challenging I think it just adds to the enjoyment of it. All I would ask from it is skip able cutscenes but other than that no complaints I absolutely adore it

### 5/5 — Short, bittersweet, and enjoyable

*2020-06-19, version 1.0.2*

Mechanically, the game is a pretty straightforward action platformer. It’s solid, but nothing groundbreaking. The atmosphere, story, and characters are all great though. Really enjoyed the experience of playing this one. It’s a sad story, but it’s effective, and the creepy vibe holds up throughout. It’s a good way to use an afternoon or 2.

### 5/5 — Coma

*2020-06-17, version 1.0.2*

Many many years ago when this game was still just a flash game, my sister and I would pour hours into the game seeing if we could find any new secrets or just to relive the experience of this game. I kept seeing this game showing up on Apple Arcade, not knowing what it was, until I finally tapped on it. I always thought that it was the same game do to the art style, even though it changed a lot, but I never decided to look into it. As soon as I saw the piano I knew what this was, I was so excited that it had finally come out and that I could play it in my phone. I can’t wait to relive those childhood memories I had with my sister.

### 4/5 — Great Game with one flaw

*2020-06-03, version 1.0.2*

This game is pretty cool. Maybe not suitable for little kids due to its creep factor but overall it was good. Takes a little bit of strategy skills but not much.

The one thing that I don’t like is the location of the hit button and that jump is not a visible button but randomly tapping outside of the hit button.

I believe it would be better if the jump button was in the bottom right corner and the hit button above that.

Maybe add that as control options? I found it unnatural to have it as it is.

Anyhow, the controls are little weird but I’m hopefully they add the options to change it.

Overall it’s a good weird game.

### 5/5 — Great Game!

*2020-05-27, version 1.0.2*

I absolutely love this game, binged through it in just under five hours. While the ending was a little confusing, I very much love the creepy vibe. The beginning starts off very easy, so when the difficulty increased with the three eyed boss, I wasn’t expecting it. All in all, I am very excited to see if the creator for this game comes out with anything else.

Two possible notes for improvement:

1. The way the screen shaking gets progressively worse with the last boss was very hard on my eyes.

2. While I did watch the entire extra video in the theater about the making of the game,(I love the candidness, and I loved hearing about how it was made.) I wish the audio quality was a little better. It was a little grainy. Thank you for an amazing game!

### 5/5 — Deeply immersive

*2020-05-24, version 1.0.2*

Started the game on my iPad, but some controls were a bit tricky to do. On the Apple TV with a controller, though, the game came to life.

The story is interesting and fun, the puzzles are engaging. The one star I’d dock for tough controls the game earns back with fun characters, awesome graphics, and great teasers (yeah, I too wondered about the locks, and the orange balls, and the ramp I couldn’t do anything with... but I saw that as a challenge, not an annoyance).

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — May be ok with a controller

*2022-06-07, version 1.2.0*

The story is interesting with a fun creepy vibe. However, trying to do this on an iPad is next to impossible. To have to use one finger to slide back and forth on the left side of the screen to control direction (while that action continuously activates the pause button coz its trying to switch apps due to the ipads slide swipe feature), your other hand has to press one button to jump, one button to hold in the air and another to activate the weapon. Not to mention the buttons aren’t visible so you’re constantly accidentally hitting the wrong button at the wrong second. It is beyond frustrating. It could’ve been great had they thought thru the logistics of what is required to beat the game. As it is, its way too frustrating

### 2/5 — Game stuck on initial loading screen

*2022-01-02, version 1.2.0*

I’ve played this game on Steam and it’s a beautiful game. Wanted to check out the touch controls so I downloaded this version; however, the game is stuck on the initial loading screen prior to the title screen, effectively rendering the game unplayable on my iPhone XR (running iOS 15.1). I have closed all other apps and restarted my phone to no avail. Any thoughts as to what else I could try in order to get the game working?

### 2/5 — Glitch

*2020-11-23, version 1.0.2*

I absolutely love this game. But like another user said I am stuck between two blocks and in order to escape I have to kill all the monsters. But the two flying monsters have disappeared so I just remain stuck. I really don’t want to start the game over, that would be really frustrating. I don’t know how to fix this problem as I have shut down the app, gone to previous levels, turned my phone off, saved my progress, tried to look up glitch fixes, etc. I’m not sure what to do here? I can’t proceed and if the glitch doesn’t fix then I will just have to delete the game. I don’t wanna start all the way over with the possibility that another glitch could occur...

### 2/5 — Stuck and can’t proceed

*2020-07-28, version 1.0.2*

I’ve really been enjoying this game! Right up until I got to the water tower, and now I’m stuck in between two blocks. As with previous sections, I assume I’m supposed to kill all the bad guys to open the blocks back up, but for some reason there don’t seem to be enough bad guys to open the blocks. I’ve watched walkthroughs to see what I’m doing wrong, and it appears the flying spider that shoots fireballs is somehow missing from my game and I can’t proceed. So I’ve killed the 3 jumping spiders over and over and now I’m just standing under the floating bad guys and none of them come down or anything. I’ve restarted the game a number of times to see if it’s random, but I fear that it is a glitch and I won’t ever be able to save Wren.

### 2/5 — Okay game, but has problems.

*2020-05-05, version 1.0.1*

I haven’t played all of the way through yet, but I had to restart because I got Simeon stuck in between an iron block in the entrance of the nest. It saved for some reason and there was no going back. I had to watch every single cut scene and there is no skip button. I want to play through the game, but I don’t want to have to play through the first part twice. The section with with the iron block should be more user friendly and easier to get out of. There should be a temporary way to teleport Simeon back to where he started at the fireplace or something.

### 3/5 — I don’t say this lightly but this game IS DARK

*2022-12-23, version 1.3.0*

So anyway I haven’t beaten the game yet but I am getting closer to getting to dr smiles so to explain a need a spoiler so SPOILER at black fork asylum you put brain pieces in a giant cauldron and it makes a potion that has side effect of making people go INSANE and all the grown ups at the start of the game are missing (later you find them all of but insane and naked except for under when and a knife and they try to kill you) and 3 grown ups are horrific monsters and the first one eats Simeon but you find him later in a bunch of guts the first boss was really long now I am not saying that this game is graphic it isn’t thankfully but ya this game is very dark also the main boss is try ing to eat someone Also I do want to know why only 3 grown ups turned into giant monsters also why are the kids really old in black fork asylum I also don’t like the skating mechanic for getting of i think there should be a button to get off and to answer a person’s question yes the centapide lady does wake up you have to roll simeon through sand spider eggs and sludge and just saying but this game is just dark I thought that creeks was dark but… this takes the cake. Hey devs are you working out of your heart cause if you are you all need a therapist judging by black fork asylum I have deleted it from all the creepy stuff some reviewers said it has a creepy vibe i say it’s got an orchestra

### 3/5 — Difficulty

*2021-08-01, version 1.1.0*

I want to love this game so much. But the floating spiders are just too much. It took me 45 minutes to kill them all out of 1 section and then I save my progress to come back later and all of them have respawned. I think it’s ridiculous to have all monsters respawn even after a save. That makes progressing through the map awfully tough. And it’s too long to do in 1 sitting. I spent 6 hours just trying to get nails for gomgirlssa. The monsters that keep respawning are impossible to kill. I hope this is a glitch honestly 😔

### 3/5 — I like the game...

*2020-12-17, version 1.0.2*

This game has potential. I enjoy figuring out what I need to do according to clues given. There’s a lot to explore, and the story seems like it will be interesting.
That said, the controls leave me frustrated. Trying to walk forward, and suddenly, I turn around and start running the opposite way (or just stop altogether.) I’ve tried repositioning where I touch, but it doesn’t help. It’s not so bad until you’re in a tight situation and trying to run away from something. Then you die and get to do everything from that session all over again. Oof.
Thanks anyways...

### 3/5 — I want to love it buttt

*2020-06-01, version 1.0.2*

The controls! That’s what’s killing it for me. I know I should be progressing faster but there seems to be an imbalance in how fast the spiders etc knock out your lives. I just beat Mr Toyne (after AT LEAST two hours total - I was convinced it was the game’s fault, and I was right - bc I finally beat Mr Toyne after I installed the update...) but now I’m having a similar problem immediately after. It’s frustrating to be drawn into the game otherwise but to have the coding/controls working against the player.

### 3/5 — Cool but frustrating.

*2020-05-14, version 1.0.2*

First, this is a nicely imaginative game that hooked me in quickly. My issue with this game are the bugs. I am currently a couple hours in and I am completely stuck because of a bug. I cannot progress any further because the game will not recognized I cleared the battle. There was an earlier situation where it took three attempts to finish a battle for the game to finally allow me to progress. I want to love this game, but right now it seems I just have to give up and wait for an update. I think the devs have a great game on their hands if they could only iron out these annoying bugs.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Best game I’ve played in years!

*2022-09-09, version 1.2.0*

I was so impressed by this game. I haven’t found many new games that keep me playing for hours in a long time. Glow fish, odmar, campfire, are some great adventure games and graphics are amazing. This game is up there with the beat! Love the story, the fact you have puzzles, boss levels, and small battles all in one! LOVE IT!!!! I will play many times, please tell me there will be another one!

### 5/5 — Good game but needs one thing

*2022-06-08, version 1.2.0*

I really enjoyed your game but I think with your new update the creatures are really hard to fight and I’m not very good at the game I really like playing the game for the second time because of getting the special items I suggest that you make those new creatures a mode so you can either do normal mode without the new creatures or hard mode with the creatures I would very much appreciate it if you do this

### 5/5 — Great!

*2022-03-30, version 1.2.0*

I had played this game before and wanted to play it again but o forgot the name so I scrolled through the App store’s games the. I finally found it and things I couldn’t do before seemed a lot more clear to me like at the beginning you have to press the doors in the order so they spell smile and defeating Simone’s Mom who was that creepy long tentacle person and my favorite is probably the piano because I love playing piano and i thing is a great aspect to the game finding the red wing slugger and the gommbosa grips along with the cutscenes I’ve never finished the game but I can’t wait to see how it ends over all your game is AWESOME!

### 5/5 — AMAZING DEVELOPMENT

*2021-11-28, version 1.2.0*

This is my favorite game, no contest. I love the mechanics, the story, the graphics, everything. But an update would be nice. Like, a new difficulty you get by beating adventure. Or, a new ranged weapon, or a new tool, or a new area that might contain extra storyline once you kill Doctor Smile on adventure mode. and yes, I have seen Kickstarter areas like the cemetery, and the theater, and shill dungeon. But i have one urgent question. What do shill seeds do? The mirror card flips the world over, but the shill seeds don’t seem to do anything. Anyways, i love the game, and all the characters, but i think a DLC or something would be nice.

### 5/5 — OH MY LORD <33

*2021-11-12, version 1.2.0*

Ive played this game when it just came out on apple arcade, but then i quit because i didn't know what to do when you got the 1st song piece. Now I am past that and there is much more tutorials/ gameplays to figure out where to go. love this game

### 5/5 — Glitch.

*2021-11-08, version 1.2.0*

Really enjoying the game so far. But I just opened the chest in wrens house with the umbrella. But it never went into my inventory or anything. I have no button to use it and it doesn’t come out automatically over the air vents. It’s impossible to beat the granny boss without the umbrella so I am stuck until the glitch is fixed.

### 5/5 — Wow!

*2021-07-27, version 1.1.0*

I absolutely love this game. I wish there was more levels to play honestly. The only issue I have had is getting into the asylum. I beat all the bosses and then go to the asylum to play the last part of the game and it says I shouldn’t be there yet. I have no idea what is going on.

### 5/5 — discombobulated :(

*2021-06-12, version 1.1.0*

i love this game!! it was so good, the levels were beautiful as well as the art. i just wish that the ending connected the storyline more. i played through, so excited to find out the ending but once i beat the final boss that was kind of the end. i wish peet met wren again, i wish we found out how peet did or maybe had more levels to it to continue. i understand that you ran out of time, and that is so sad to me. you deserved a good ending. so does peet 😢
great game overall. will continue to play through to get the achievements. hopefully you will be able to update the game later on. wish you the best!

### 5/5 — OMG!! Can I just say this is the experience that I’ve longed for

*2020-11-19, version 1.0.2*

So I am into storyline, scary or creepy intriguing games, but thissssssssss has surpassed my expectations. From the very beginning I was drawn in. Each character had their own personality and it was well scripted. Over all after the past week I’ve played Accumulatively it took 10.5 hours. Felt way longer. I’m so impressed I’ve gotten 3 other people to start playing. This game can literally be sold (for me it was free with Apple Arcade) and I would buy even after I’ve completed it. The organization was top notch. Love it! Love it. Love it!

### 5/5 — One of the best games I’ve played.

*2020-10-08, version 1.0.2*

You guys made such an amazing game. The characters are all quirky and the story is just so full of emotions. I music is perfect at every stage of the game.

This is one of the few games that touched my heart and made me cry because it was genuinely so sad. You guys/gals are amazing creators and I can’t wait to see what you create next!
