Needs more information about the venues hence 4* but hopefully that will come in time. ### 2/5 — Keeps crashing *2022-12-26, version 1.1.0* This would be a great app, but it crashes every time you click the ‘More information’ on a pub and it’s impossible to navigate around the map. Urgently needs updating ### 2/5 — Not it *2022-10-25, version 1.1.0* Love the idea, but the app is incredibly slow to find location and crashes every time I try to view details of a pub. Plus definition of independent is skewed as it’s listing places like Stonegate which are almost as huge as Wetherspoon anyway. ### 3/5 — Great idea, but… *2022-10-14, version 1.1.0* Love the idea of this app and it’s a great way to find pubs when out and about. But the ‘more information’ button on each pub crashes the app, so it’s impossible to know anything about a venue, other than it’s name. It hasn’t been updated for a year so is it still in operation? Sadly, since iOS 15 was introduced, the app does not work at all, map is frozen, and unable to zoom in or out or navigate anywhere other than the current area. No way of contacting developer so app will remain broken until the developer presumably next needs a beer? ### 1/5 — Way out *2021-08-22, version 1.1.0* Within 5 mins of opening I found the markers showing alot of the pubs are way out and you be going the wrong way. Also pubs on there that are shut. So this has been taken from a list of pubs that is out of date. Watch this space. Found since pubs that are missing total waste of time. Better off saying to google “pubs, near?” Reduced to one star. ### 1/5 — Might as well use Google maps *2021-07-08, version 1.1.0* I thought this app might be something useful that would allow me to order and pay for drinks/food from a table in independent pubs. (Though you can still find ‘em all if you want to). Suggestions: - slightly glitchy map (pinch & zoom pings back to default level if you try to go higher) - Open In Google Maps link has been redirected to accursed, non-pub-finding Apple Maps (possibly by Apple) - website / menu links would be nice? Other than that - hearty cheers :) ### 4/5 — Love the idea of it *2021-05-17, version 1.1.0* I love the idea of this, but it’s not accurate. Wetherspoons owns about 900 pubs, whereas brands like Stonegate have 5000 and all of theirs are listed as independents (which they obviously aren’t) the true independents are then in turn missing out to the big boys. I’m sure over time, this will be fixed though. Keep up the great work! ### 2/5 — Lists Independent pubs which are chains... *2021-05-16, version 1.1.0* Some Greene king pubs (biggest pub operator in uk) listed as an independent and some marston's pubs listed as independent near me plus others. One Spoons and all other pubs listed are labelled as independent, Phooey!! There is a Fuller’s on the canal and an Akemans pub next door to the Spoons. Failed at the first hurdle, didn’t look further! Shortest lifetime of an app on my phone. Deleted. ### 2/5 — Map not loading on latest update *2021-04-08, version 1.0.6* Really great app but since last update map no longer loads on my iPhone 12 - crucial feature of this app! ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Shep *2025-08-29, version 2.3.0* With wetherspoons being part of the title I expected alternatives to spoons , ie, cheap food and drink, but all this does is list pubs in your search area wether they are cheaper or the £6 a pint snobs. I suppose it’s useful as a pub finder, but no comparisons to Spoons have been studied ### 1/5 — Fatal flaw: Nice idea but map will not allow sliding *2023-04-30, version 1.1.0* When you plan a pub night or crawl you want to plan for where you WILL be, not where you ARE, so you need to be able to slide the map instead of it fixating on where you are currently. I clicked one pub I hadn’t heard of, and their profile was a Wetherspoons site. So you can’t look at anywhere apart from the immediate area which is pretty pointless. Also relies on users updating the database so no investment being made - it can never be accurate as pubs are opening and closing daily. The Only pubs shown as independent are owned by Marstons ### 1/5 — Doesn’t highlight only independents *2022-03-26, version 1.1.0* I imagine the developer has a political point to make, rather than just supporting local brewers and pubs (think how many small breweries sell their beer at spoons…) But when pubs under big groups like M&B or Greene King are marked as “independent”, it just rankles.
