### 2/5 — Needs more polish

*2025-01-07*

It’s a great idea for the app, but it doesn’t quite work in its current state for me. Two reasons - related to UX designs and my personal preferences.

First and most important one is the design. The font is too large on my iPhone XR. It’s readable but inconvenient - and there is no setting to change that. I even tried using Per-App Accessibility settings on my iPhone, but your app doesn’t react to any changes there! That’s not right!

It also has too much of empty space on sides. I understand the need for padding, but when it take 1/10th of the screen width, that’s a bit over the top. In combination with the abnormally large font, the entire thing just doesnt look good.

And I want it to look good. I entirely agree with the words of Tim Keller in this app - the practice of catechesis needs to be re-instated in Evangelical circles! But, as I said before, I have one more request…

There is an option to read commentary. I wish there was also an option to click on the name and see who the person is - what views he supports, what position he holds, etc. Unfortunately, there are people associated with both The Gospel Coalition and Crossway that support some ideas and views that, I personally believe, contradict the Scripture. I’m not even talking about Calvinism here - last year Ray Ortlund made a post on social media voicing support for Kamala Harris. He can vote for whoever he wants, but using his platform to urge others to vote for politician who actively supports abortions until birth and transgender surgeries on children, is just wrong and immoral. Nevertheless, the guy is still contributing to Crossway and was even featured in the special New Year episode of their podcast.

Perhaps a better alternative would be to use voices of the past for the commentary - people whose moral values are not in question. Focus more on Augustine, Francis de Sales, AW Tozer, CS Lewis, Timothy Keller… Not contemporary theologians most people are unfamiliar with.

### 3/5 — Good

*2024-08-05*

I’d gladly give this app five stars, if only it wouldn’t go back to the first question every time I open it. Is there a way to get it to remember where I left off?

### 3/5 — Great but…

*2024-05-01*

I love the content (have been using this catechism with my kids for years now), and I’m pretty content with the app; unless it’s a user error, I do not like the fact that the app doesn’t load up with the current week’s catechism question. It’s quite frustrating having to scroll to the current week every time. I’d imagine this would be a pretty simple fix, and it would greatly enhance the user experience (at least for me). Thanks for considering this adjustment!

### 4/5 — Good but room for better

*2024-03-25*

It is obvious from the format that this is not only amenable to individual study, but also groups like Sunday Schools, Bible Studies, and even Worship Services. However, this also reveals one major shortcoming, and that is the lack of ability to make notes of your own as you study the questions, answers, and commentaries. I urge the designers to consider adding this capability.

### 4/5 — Landscape Mode would make 5 stars

*2023-06-21, version 2.0.8*

Great app of the NCC and Landscape Mode especially for iPad would be be great

### 4/5 — Kid-friendly, but also for adults

*2022-05-09*

Just finished 52 weeks of this app with my kids. They were very engaged and even my 5yo had little trouble learning most of the songs that accompanied the lessons.

My only complaint is that the app has some minor player and navigation issues. Would heartily recommend, though, to anyone who wants to hide the Word of God in their heart.

### 3/5 — Need icons

*2021-12-28, version 2.0.8*

I downloaded the app but it does not show any icons on the orange bar at the bottom. I will give 5 stars if I can find the icons.

### 4/5 — Love this app! A few bugs though.

*2020-07-07*

Love this app and all the content it provides! It seems like there are some issues with the media player. I’ve discovered that I cannot access the media player for single questions from the bottom bar unless I click on the “prayer” icon first, then click the bottom x to exit, then click the media icon to bring up the media player for the single song. Also, sometimes when playing a song from the All Songs list, I have to click to proceed to the next song instead of it automatically playing the next song in the list. I think it used to proceed automatically, but would skip from the current song I played, to the latest song on the list that I had ever played. Maybe that bug is fixed but the fix was to eliminate auto play all together 😔. The auto play would be a nice feature to add. Thanks for all the hard work! 💪🏼

### 4/5 — Excecution of content needs work

*2020-02-06*

This app is great for having all content accessable in one spot. However, it will only let me play each song only once. There is no way to start over unless I completely exit the app and get back in. If I pull up the full song list, there is no way to go back to the normal screen unless I shut down the app and get back in. It's a lot of unnecessary steps. Kids need repetition to learn, so being able to repeat without unnecessary steps would be nice.

### 5/5 — CAL

*2019-12-30*

Doesn’t work on my iPhone. Just get the three screens explaining what it can do.

Sorry I hadn’t clicked on ‘Done’

### 5/5 — Amazing Memory Tool

*2019-12-14*

We love this app. Everything about it is well done. Could you add support for casting to Google Home from iOS? That would be huge for our family?

### 5/5 — Very cool app

*2019-11-01*

Well done. Easy read. Topical. Scriptures for each one at bottom

### 4/5 — Ability to share Q&A from App

*2019-09-07*

Right now I’ll share with a screenshot, but having the ability to share within app would be awesome!
I agree with another reviewer having the kid answer “highlighted” within the adult answer when in adult mode would be nice

### 5/5 — Fantastic app for Family Worship

*2019-06-26*

We have enjoyed using this app during family worship. I recently noticed that the song for Q42 is mistakenly the song for Q39.

Keep up the great work

### 5/5 — Why Tim Keller...

*2019-03-10*

I read everything Tim Keller because he is absolutely true to the Bible and makes the Bible practical for every day life in a form that speaks to me me...short and sweet but also complete and with links that allow me to dig as deep as time or interest allow. What an amazing and free resource!!

### 5/5 — Love it, but where are the songs

*2019-02-27, version 2.0.8*

Love this app, but it says you can listen to the songs through the app, yet I don’t see them anywhere. Can anyone help me?

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Love this!

*2025-04-13, version 2.0.8*

I love this app! We use it to help our girls learn the catechism!

### 5/5 — A great resource for kids - and the rest of us too!

*2024-12-28*

Our little one loves the songs that go with these questions. We often pause and give our own answers first, then compare with the provided answer and discuss - a great tool for instruction. Thank you!

### 5/5 — Great catechism and app but some technical issues

*2024-05-30*

This is a brilliant initiative helpful for both adults and children.
However my app is playing the wrong songs for each number.

### 5/5 — Love it, with one little annoyance

*2023-06-04*

A solid catechism that meets a need and fulfills a role. The introduction does a good job explaining how that plays out.

My only frustration—and it’s nitpicking—is that I can’t figure out how to get to the Home Screen without closing and restarting the app; I don’t believe it’s possible. Do I need to go to the Home Screen? Not really. Can I navigate to all relevant places without doing so? Yup. But my brain desperately wants to be able to hit a “Home” button and get back to the splash screen. 🤷🏻‍♂️😂

### 5/5 — So excited!

*2023-01-08, version 2.0.8*

So excited to memorize this with my 4yo daughter. Love the songs!

### 5/5 — Love this app

*2020-10-23, version 2.0.8*

We use this app every Sunday and we have gotten so far in learning all the catechisms I love that there is a Bible verse to go with it I hope you enjoy this app to

### 5/5 — New City Catechism App

*2020-07-18*

Just downloaded and started to use as our Church are studying it together. This app is great - little animations make the question-answer learning process less dull BUT the accompanying bible verses, commentary & prayers are really excellent. The ACTUAL CONTENT tho of what we re learning tho is REVELATIONARY of course - what an AWESOME God we have !!

### 5/5 — Love it so much!

*2020-03-17, version 2.0.8*

We love the app and especially the kids songs!

### 5/5 — Suggestion

*2020-02-02*

Great app.

For the devs, please make the app where the user is able to turn the screen. I use a iPad Pro and constantly use it on it’s side and the app doesn’t allow that.

### 5/5 — Wonderful!

*2020-01-10*

This is a wonderful tool for kids! It is very easy to follow and the songs are so catchy!
