You can’t change the color of the bulbs any other way but through the app. I think my husband might be able to change the color on the app on his phone, but I’m not able to. Functionality could be a lot better. ### 4/5 — Worked perfectly until recently *2023-12-16, version 4.3.4* I’ve had the lightbulbs since the kick starter and they have all worked perfectly. but recently the app has been unable to call home so it logs you out and then you cannot sign in. this is for both the iOS and android app. If you’re going to close up shop at least make the app work locally. Update - September 26: app works again -suggestion: to keep observer maintenance. If you guys had a donate button somewhere on your website, I think it would be a smashing hit put a goal for the month. for a server costs, and I think it would be filled. I love your guises product. The app works exactly like it should when it does work and I honestly don’t feel like I can live without it. Last month this app became unusable and I accepted my lightbulbs were now useless. After some digging I found the RGB+Installer app by Ilumi solutions. I was able to reset my bulbs, pair them to the new app, and finally use them again. It would’ve been nice to have some communication from the company so I didn’t have to figure this out on my own. ### 5/5 — Seeking support *2023-09-29, version 4.3.4* “Since the app support site is down I really don’t know what to do. I’ve had this for years and had no issues but now suddenly I can’t log into the app AND I can’t reset my password. It just errors out on both accounts and now I literally can’t use my freaking light. Welcome to the future fam. It blows. 5 stars otherwise- 1 star pending support.” Updated from 1 to 5 stars. I was able to get a hold of someone for the company through the website messaging system (not the support website mind you.) the app is working fine again and I can use my reliable light bulb again as of 9/29/2023. As I’ve said in my prior review- it’s a great product. But the app can have its issues from time to time. Aside from poor communication with their customers- no transparency about the massive issues they had, people had to hunt them down for answers because it seemed like they just vanished- the product does what it’s supposed to do and does it well. Error message on attempting to sign in : “ Access blocked: Authorization Error You can’t sign in from this screen because this app doesn’t comply with Google’s secure browsers policy. If this app has a website, you can open a web browser and try signing in from there. ### 1/5 — Totally frustrating *2023-09-26, version 4.3.4* After years of positive use, the app doesn’t work (cannot sign in) Support is nearly non existent (the alleged fix didn’t work for me) and to let the 150+ people who reported an issue know about the “fix”, support allowed everyone’s email addresses to show on the message. I’d say Illumi has had a change of ownership or is about to go out of business. I will find another solution and toss their bulbs. The concept was so cool back when it was starting out, but now the app (a 2nd generation rework) has clearly been abandoned. Bulbs no longer pair, sign-in is required to manage bulbs but the authentication portal doesn’t work as expected, and the last update was 6 years ago. If you’re going to enforce auth or have an opaque bluetooth pairing (compared to LIFX where wifi connection is explicit to your phone, ilumi obscures bluetooth availability to the app), you should at least maintain the base functionality of your app. ### 1/5 — Very glitchy and stressful *2024-06-09, version 4.3.4* I have had multiple times where the app just randomly stopped working completely and wouldnt let me sign into my account for weeks. I tried contacting and getting help but they just told me the app is glitchy. I use the illumi as my main source of light in my rooom and when it stops working all the time it’s so frustrating. That’s all it does. ### 1/5 — I can’t stress how much NOT TO BUY this product *2024-01-18, version 4.3.4* I’ve had my Ilumi bulbs almost since they first came out yet no matter what no matter the updates I cannot ever get the two of them to work together. I’ve only ever tried to use them in my bedroom thinking what an easy way to turn off my lights or set the mood. But the two have never worked together in a group, EVER. They are set in the same group but I can never get them to both turn off or change color or pretty much anything together, it’s always one or the other. No matter how many times I reset either bulb or what version of the app I’m on. Thank christ they were a gift and I didn’t spend my own money on them. New update! App still useless. Haven’t used it in who knows how long but after surgery need to stay in bed so figured hey maybe I can turn it on and off with the app finally. Not so, can’t sign in it just sticks on 0% loaded or whatever and the message that comes up at the top is UNDER THE CAMERA BAR for the phone, so no idea what that says. Please please please do not buy this product. If you have box up and save it for a white elephant party gift to shift the curse onto someone else. ### 1/5 — No Longer Working *2024-01-10, version 4.3.4* Do not buy this light. I’ve used this bulb for years and it was working great until September 2023. All of a sudden the app no longer recognizes my log in and there’s no other way to control the light bulb! I received one customer service email in September saying they were aware of the issue, they asked us not to contact them further, and they said they’ll reach out with a solution. No word since then. Now it’s a very expensive regular bulb. Such a shame. That’s the most stupid thing a company would do is lock away a feature to use your light in which you paid for. Disgusting taste in my mouth luckily it was a gift that I returned and bought back because the hues were expensive and so I thought this guy wasn’t bad at all. Guess what it’s garbage. The company abandoned the app and now we can’t even use it. We have one in our bedroom and three in our living room and one in our spare bedroom. We love that they can be lit in a great numbers of different colours and also that they can be dimmed down very low in red or such other colours that help to promote getting drowsy and ready for bed. They were a Christmas present from my brother. He always likes cool things so he sends me stuff like this. I was so excited when I tried them out and they worked so easily. I have use these every single day and we especially love them during the holidays. You can use all your colors and match whatever holiday that you want to. And, like I said, it’s been five years and counting. We back working now ### 5/5 — Great product *2023-10-05, version 4.3.4* It’s a weird market where it’s hard to tell if there’s a ton of competition. The competition that already exists in the market is either such the old-grandad or cheap, barely knockoff, that I’ve only ever considered buying more ilumi. Most people I know don’t use smart light systems, but I have for over a decade. Switching to Hue with its hub is such a lump sum over-commitment that even on the rare occasions that Ilumi acts weird I loath all considerations of switching. I’m happy to give it 5-stars even though the app is overdue for a major update. Some of my favorite features are the music sync and seasonal themes. But frankly, the health benefits of being able to manage whatever therapy lighting has to offer on a daily basis has become a critical part of my lifestyle.
