Tasks like batting, pitching, fielding, and running have very simple mechanics, which would be fine if it actually took practice to do them well. However, I found each task way too easy. This is a disappointment coming from the same people who produced New Star Soccer, but that’s not a fair comparison. I say that because NSS is probably the best sports simulation in mobile game history. I doubt that it will ever be equaled, so I shouldn’t apply the same standard here. Regardless, plenty of people seem to really like this game, and good for them. It’s like drinking baseball flavored sparkling water. Reminds me of Ratatouie in that a rat masquerades as a human, although he was a real chef and in this game you don’t really actually play baseball. After maxing out the stats of my player it became obvious that to be successful in even the AAA equivalent level you’re going to need to pay real money for equipment that has a limited number of uses in games. In addition to that, the way your player is scored on the batting mini game is absolutely ridiculous. Singles are basically useless for improving your rating, and the only way to have a good rating is to have homeruns and doubles (triples are not a thing in this game, and if they are I didn’t see one in hundreds batting attempts). The game that finally made me delete this app was one in which my batting rating for the game decreased after hitting two doubles, a single, and a fly out. Batting .750 can get you a negative rating.
