## What is New York DMV Permit Prep?

Build your understanding of New York road rules and signs before your passenger-vehicle learner-permit knowledge test.

New York DMV Permit Prep offers 100 original questions across seven study topics: signs and signals; intersections and turns; passing and school buses; parking and stopping; defensive driving; special conditions and impairment; and sharing the road and permit context.

Learn the reason behind each answer with explanations and links to New York DMV guidance. Three original sign diagrams help visual recognition. Choose topics and question counts, resume unfinished practice, review answers, and track progress on your device. Timing is optional and off by default.

New York details matter. Study the New York City turn-on-red exception, school-bus stopping on divided highways, and the difference between junior permits and unrestricted licenses. Regional permit restrictions are explained in the study guide.

Know the published test requirement: at least 14 of 20 correct, including at least 2 of the 4 road-sign questions. App sessions are mixed study practice, not an exact official exam simulation. The app does not reproduce actual DMV test questions or guarantee a passing result.

All study content works offline on iPhone and iPad. External source links need internet. No account, advertising, subscription, or AI tutor.

This is a selective study aid for ordinary passenger-vehicle Class D and junior Class DJ permit knowledge. It does not cover every sign, traffic-law exception, parking distance, penalty, document requirement, regional restriction, or practical maneuver. It is not CDL, motorcycle, or taxi/livery-specific preparation. Read the full current DMV manual and check current official requirements for your circumstances.

Passing an app quiz does not issue a permit or license, replace supervised practice, satisfy pre-licensing or driver-education requirements, or complete a road test.

Independent study aid. Not affiliated with, endorsed by, or an official product of the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles or any government agency.
