The audio tour was great and the staff were all friendly. The tours are well-structured; the guidance for moving is clear; there is very good information about each stop on the tour, with particular attention to the things you are actually seeing. I also really liked the approach of having extra material relevant to each room in an easily accessible drop-down section. Don't miss the free self guided audio tours! My husband and I were transported to another time and way of life. The docents were knowledge about the collections and surrounding areas. Please take the time to see at least (4) of the homes to be able to appreciate the depth and bredth of architectural styles in this living collection of historic homes. We spent the late afternoon & evenings trying restaurants, shops and antique stores. Enough to teach the history without overwhelming you, but if you want more information there is an additional selection to hear more details and listen to the stories. The Best Audio Tour I have ever used. The Gilded Age is a real treat. The app is amazing. When my girlfriend and I downloaded the Russian version on two different phones, for her parents each room only played for 2 seconds and just said “click on the button”. Also passed several people trying to listen without headphones. ### 1/5 — Inconvenient *2023-05-22, version 4.0* Extremely inconvenient. This tour definitely needs a guide. Other people around trying to use the app without headphones makes the tour distracting and troubleshooting the app during the tour is extremely frustrating and takes away from the experience. Definitely recommend opting for a tour with a guide or just skipping anything involving this app in general. At times I could not escape out of the request to rate screen, which ruined my ability to control the app audio. I upgrade to the new iOS 2 days ago. ### 3/5 — OK if you bring headphones *2023-10-22, version 4.0* Nice app if you have headphones. Otherwise, you have a choice of listening on speaker, so everyone around you also hears, or putting the phone to your ear. The problem with the last choice is that the tour screen contains several hyperlinked areas that take you out of the app to a web browser as the surface touches your ear and cheek. As a result, you lose the ability to pause, go back, or advance. Are you all being compliant with the laws concerning handicap access? I would suggest you add this feature to not deny anyone access to these beautiful buildings and their history ASAP.
