This makes it impossible to watch/listen whilst doing other tasks on a device. Please return this functionality to the app ### 3/5 — better with every update, but riddled with trackers *2024-03-24* The app seems better with every update, however, it heavily collects information while you used it. After approximately 5 minutes of using the app it sent over 200 tracking requests to 3rd party analytics companies. I understand that Skye News makes money by selling information it collects from its users but I do feel like this much data collection is excessive. ### 3/5 — Back to Flash for now *2024-02-06* As we’re never able to start watching shows as soon as they start, with Flash you could select the show and start from the beginning, even if the show was halfway through. And shows that had just finished live were immediately there to watch, not have to wait til a couple of hours later to be available. Hopefully these things will be addressed in future updates, but for now it’s back to Flash. ### 4/5 — Video issue *2021-06-07* I really like the simple interface of the app but recently I haven’t been able to video the videos in horizontal mode despite making sure my Portrait Orientation Lock being off. Hope this can be fixed ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Terrible Support for known problems *2026-08-08* Ever since the new News24 was issued I have been unable to read a single news story without experiencing 1 to 2 full blank screens , the text isn’t there or appears for a fraction of a second then disappears. If I scroll the blank screen up suddenly the missing text appears but in the next instant it is gone. I have to juggle the screen to see momentarily flashes of the news article text which is impossible to read. After a 20 minute ordeal trying to get through to a “real” person on the Chat Help page I was simply told “oh yeah we know about this …we are working on it” . After advertising for months about the new App and having now been fully operational for 3 weeks these fundamental faults are still present and I pay for this failure and can not read the content. ### 1/5 — Sigh *2024-12-21* Something is definitely wrong with this app. Whenever I’d open it I was bombarded with a swathe of right wing kooks running what seemed like a never ending infomercial for the Liberal Party and their ilk. I mistakenly thought as the app was called “Sky NEWS” it would actually be “news” but, alas it is mere opinion dressed up as news. This Murdoch swill is a solid wall (especially in the evening) of biased right wing nut jobs preaching to the converted. Sky News has descended into such farce that it is now nothing more than a right wing echo chamber where those who already believe this nonsense, come back to the trough for their daily recharge of Murdoch swill. During the day it’s ok but after dark and on weekends it’s insufferable. Also, commercials on a station you’re already paying to watch? Cancelled! ### 1/5 — Won’t update *2021-07-03* Just in the last few days, the app is not updating news stories. It’s still displaying stories from several days ago. Pulling down to refresh has no effect. Otherwise…..I like the content. Generally a good app. One thing: as stories are usually fairly short, I can’t see the point of only being able to read one paragraph when first clicked on, and having to click again to see more. ### 2/5 — Faulty Audio *2025-05-28* Whenever I enter the App and load streaming, I get audio from two different streams playing over the top of each other and there’s no simple way of stopping either of them. Also, why not have the capacity to watch a Live broadcast and rewind back to the beginning if you started watching after it started. Flash does this! ### 2/5 — Waiting, waiting, waiting … *2024-10-20* Used to watch the Sky programmes on Flash but had to look for other options when they were no longer available via that platform. Signed up to watch via Sky News app BUT all we ever end up doing is waiting for it to be available to stream. Very frustrating that decent and reliable options are seemingly now unavailable for Sky News programming! ### 2/5 — App seems to lack common conventions *2024-10-09* I have this app on both my phone and my tablet, using the same account. For some reason when I save something to watch later, it only saves on the device I save it on. This is the lack of a pretty basic feature. If Sky News doesn't want to allow these sort of choices to save to my account and sync to my various devices, then I should be able to sync my app installation via one of my cloud storage accounts. Time to get with the program Sky News. 👍 😃 ### 2/5 — Sky news channels Streaming *2024-01-30* The streaming the live news channels on my iPhone works but cannot cast either through Apple TV or my LG tv as the app only picks up my lg sound bar for some unknown reason! However I can cast from its Internet site to my tv via Apple TV ! Why isn’t skynews updating its app on Apple TV to stream the news channels? I cannot even login through this app on Apple TV! Please update your app on Apple TV! ### 2/5 — Why only 2 stars? *2023-04-05* Because the app keeps telling me I have no internet connection, which is not true at all since I have several other international news apps on my iPhone 11, and there is never a problem with them. I have unlimited WiFi and do not have any idea why Sky News Australia does not operate properly. It is your app and NOT my WiFi that does not work. ### 3/5 — Love the news, but……. *2026-02-02* The reporting is great but the constant - and slow - content refreshes are painful. To the point where some days I just give up and go in search of something else to read. And what’s with the practice of associating unrelated videos with almost every major news story??? ### 3/5 — Don’t like new changes - can’t minimise screen now *2025-10-13* Recent update means now I can’t minimise screen to keep listening while doing other things like email on my phone. Now it remains full screen and if I pause to check on a call or message the talking stops til I open it up again. One good thing is time shows while playing while before I had to minimise to see phone clock. Please adjust app to be able to minimise screen again, I treat the app more like a podcast to have playing all day in the background while doing chores etc at home. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Recent update feedback *2026-07-27* Could you please restore the live stream video player experience that was previously available when watching Sky News Australia through Safari on mobile? In particular, the live stream player should have: A playback speed control, allowing users to adjust the playback speed. A proper full-screen option that expands the video to use the entire mobile device screen, rather than only enlarging the player within the webpage. Essentially, I’m asking for the previous Safari mobile video-player experience to be restored, with the same convenient playback controls and true full-screen functionality that were available before. The current experience feels like a downgrade in comparison. Appreciate it. Anthony Khallouf, Australians vs. The Agenda. ### 5/5 — Honest *2026-07-27* You need to watch all media to get a complete view of what’s going on to make up your own mind but, when you do, it becomes more and more apparent which media is honest and which media is dishonest. I prefer (Sky) News24 because they don’t hide behind their bias. They tell you straight that their news comes through a conservative lens whereas the left side of media don’t. The left side will tell you they have no bias which is completely dishonest. And of course if they are dishonest about that then they prove to be dishonest in almost all of their news coverage. ### 5/5 — Background viewing now fixed *2025-10-28* In the latest update they have fixed the issue where you couldn’t have a clip playing in background. Thank you for fixing this. It is now useable again! ### 5/5 — Excellent news service and app *2024-12-09* It’s so good to have a fresh alternative view to the news. No wonder Sky has the biggest increase in subscribers this year. No one else holds the current govt to task as much as Sky. Loudly shouting down anyone who disagrees with their current opinion. Blindly lining up as useful idiot's of the modern revolution. Secretly undermining society in the futile hope that they might rebuild it with the same crumbled building blocks of past failed revolutions, that history shows cost millions of innocent lives. Until of course history is altered into more equal and tolerant lie. ### 4/5 — Please upload new programs faster!! *2025-06-15* You have some great content but when I wake up at 9.30am on a Sunday why can’t I watch Sunday Agenda that was on at 8am. Figure out how to get this stuff uploaded faster. By the time you have it up people less inclined to watch because the news is dated. As soon as I start to write a white bar with the word Cancel blocks my ability to post comment. I have used log in from original subscription email until now and commented without problem! Sky attracts an awful lot of criticism from trolls from the “modern” left. One irritating bug is that, all of a sudden, four or five broadcasts start spontaneously and won’t stop until you close the application.
