## What is Newsairy?

Read what you want, how you want.

Follow the sources you choose, at your own pace. Your news. Your rules. No algorithm.

Read the way you want
- Supports RSS, Atom and JSON feeds
- Browse a clean article list you can tailor: thumbnail size, favicon, unread dot and preview lines (0–6)
- Read in the offline preview or the built-in reader (picking font and text size), or open it in your browser
- Smart feeds keep the most relevant articles front and centre: Today, Last 24 / 48 / 72 hours, Last 7 days (a rolling week) and This week (from the start of the current week to now)
- Build your own Custom Smart Feeds: keyword-based feeds that gather matching articles
- Looking for something you recently read? Read History sorts articles by read date
- Organise feeds into folders
- Only the first paragraph? Fetch the full text of an article on your device and read it in your theme and text size, without leaving the app. It needs a connection, and not every site allows it.

Stay in sync
- iCloud keeps your feeds, folders and reading state in sync across your iPhone, iPad and Mac
- Configure sync to happen automatically, on launch, or on resume — or trigger it manually with pull-to-refresh

Make it yours
- Choose your theme: Automatic, Light, Dark or Sepia
- Configurable swipe actions, order and article retention rules
- Import and export your subscriptions with standard OPML files
- Search across all your articles instantly
- Star articles to save them — starred items are never deleted by retention rules

Newsairy Pro — a single, one-time purchase — removes the 6-feed limit (free accounts include up to 6 local and 6 iCloud feeds) and adds sync with TheOldReader, Feedbin, Inoreader, Miniflux and FreshRSS, bringing your existing subscriptions, read state, and starred articles with you. No subscription. Pay once, yours forever.

No ads. No tracking. No third-party analytics.

Newsairy is a young app built on solid foundations, and it's updated constantly — with new features regularly on the way.

Requires iOS 18 or later. On Mac, requires macOS 15 or later and Apple silicon. iCloud sync requires an active iCloud account. TheOldReader, Feedbin, Inoreader, Miniflux and FreshRSS sync requires Newsairy Pro (and an account with these aggregators).

### 3/5 — No HTTP custom headers

*2026-08-04*

Bought it to connect to Miniflux but does not have custom HTTP headers to bypass proxy …

**Developer response:** You're right — Newsairy sends a single authentication header, so there's
no way to add the ones an authenticating proxy expects. Sorry you had to
buy it to find out.

I want to add it, and I'd rather build it against a real setup than a
guess. Could you drop me an email? (you can find the address on the app website)
I'd gladly send you a TestFlight build before it ships.

### 4/5 — Really good

*2026-07-12*

A very solid app that looks pretty. It would be nice if you had more optical customization options and if there was the option that the app starts immediately in the "all unread" tab after opening, instead of always having to choose a tab first and then only be in the article view.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.15.0 — 2026-08-22

# New
• Article Info: a new sheet from the article's context menu: where it came from, its dates, read and starred, and when retention will remove it.
• Feed Info: now shows the feed's format and the date of its newest article, so a feed that has gone quiet gives itself away at a glance.

# Improved
• Preparing an article's text no longer holds up the interface.

### 1.14.0 — 2026-08-18

NEW
• YouTube channel feeds get the full treatment: video player, description and thumbnail.
• Mark All as Read moves to the article list's bottom bar, next to Hide Read Articles.
• Clear Web Cache, a new button in Settings → Debugging info, to empty it yourself.

FIXED
• Inoreader sync silently stopped tracking read and starred items on accounts with nothing left unread or starred.
• Orphaned downloads are cleared at launch, and full-text view no longer fills the web cache.
• More feeds can be added: files starting with a long comment, older non-UTF-8 sites, and YouTube channel URLs.
• Videos embedded in articles now play in full-text view.

### 1.13.0 — 2026-08-10

Most of this release is under the hood: the foundations Newsairy is built on have been rebuilt. Everything works exactly as before (I hope), only steadier and ready for what's next.

A few changes:
• Mark as Read on Scroll no longer marks articles you never scrolled past, and stays smooth on very long lists.
• Large archives are much faster — marking a whole feed as read, and Custom Smart Feed counts, keep up at any size.
• A badly timed sync can no longer undo your reading: what you did on your device wins.
• Shortcuts arrive, with the first action: Add RSS feed to Newsairy. Hand it a URL and the app opens with the Add Feed sheet ready.

### 1.12.0 — 2026-08-04

No more hunting for a feed's exact address. Paste the website's address and Newsairy finds the feeds for you, then shows you what it found. If a site offers more than one — articles, comments — you pick.

Already have the feed's address? Paste it and it goes straight through, as before.

Plus a small fix: the 'X' that clears a text field is now easier to hit.

### 1.11.0 — 2026-07-26

Some feeds only send the first paragraph. A new button in the article view fetches the full text and shows it right there, in your theme and at your text size. No browser, no cookie banners. It all happens on your device.

What the feed sent is still available offline. The full text is fetched when you ask for it, so that one needs a connection, and not every site will give up its text.

A short reading tips card now shows the three ways to read a whole article: tap the title, swipe in from the right edge, or use the new full-text button.
