My mom has dementia and they’re so loud it sends her spiraling they’re so much louder than the show. Not to mention it doesn’t remember my favorites. Always says it’s broken. ### 3/5 — The gambling adds are excessive *2026-04-02, version 4.2.2* In today’s society, with high costs and inflation of goods and everything else, we deserve an app in compliance with the times. I have been using News On for several years now and I have never witnessed such a push for wanting app users to gamble at this magnitude. I even feel victim to a casino game and lost monies as a result. These apps are damaging and the timing in do wrong and inconsiderate. It’s literally every add begging for you to download and lose monies bc they are certainly not handing and out. I simply want to watch my local news stations and tune in to the weather. If I want to gamble I will visit the Mississippi Gulf Coast community. Please change this. ### 2/5 — Does anyone running this app even know what platform this app is on? *2026-01-07, version 4.2.2* NewsOn, an update to your Roku app is NOT breaking news, and breaks the entire interface. You're on Apple TV, and the breaking news banner shouldn't be notifying me to a download an update meant for another platform. Absolutely terrible navigation, no captions available, and streams just hard cut-off in the middle of breaking news because the app is hard-coded to end once a newscast ends. And after every half hour it cycles back to the previous newscast instead of moving forward with the current half hour of news. I’m done. It is easier to stream/cast from my local news app then it is to use News On. ### 3/5 — Mediocre *2024-12-17, version 4.1.1* The concept is good but app needs bugs worked out. Sound cuts off at least once per hour. There will be one ad playing over and over again. I could recite the ad on every commercial break. Then, like others have pointed out, the ads interrupt news segments. How are you going to prioritize advertising over the news? Either you are a news app or spam. I’m not going to use this app until this is fixed. ### 2/5 — Started out well *2024-08-02, version 4.0.5* At first I was happy to see my favorite news station was on the list. But watching lately has become more of a chore to pick out information. The end of every story cuts to a commercial. I haven’t heard the end of a story in a while. And now to my dismay there is a problem with having to watch a 3-5 second segment of video repeat for a few minutes until it freezes altogether. I’m trying to be patient with it because I understand there’s probably tech issues you’re still trying to work out. But I just sat here and watched about 10 minutes worth of commercials because the app could not get back to the live news program. So I gave up. ### 2/5 — Terribly inconvenient *2024-05-13* Love the concept of the app, but we can’t use it. We like to turn on the news and watch at our convenience and this app is perfect for that as long as you are going to sit there with the remote in your hand to constantly adjust the volume. But if you’re like us, you’re busy people & one reason the app appeals to you is the convenience of access it provides. You adjust the volume to suit you for the news, then an ad comes on & plays at top sound level, so you have to stop what you’re doing & adjust it down. If you do that, then you can’t hear the broadcast when it comes back on so once again you’re stopping to adjust the volume. For an app created for convenient access to local news, it is incredibly high maintenance. **Developer response:** Thank you for sharing this experience with us. we’re sorry you are experiencing issues. The local channels do not load, only a spinning loading icon. We are using the latest AppleTV with all other apps working OK. We have also uninstalled/reinstalled the app, closed all background apps, and restarted our device.
