Takes longer to open up and load. It’s much more difficult to navigate as it has content from all communicorp stations. Stopped listening to Newstalk as much on my phone now as it’s easier to listen to something else that actually loads. Such a pity. ### 1/5 — New version needs to be debugged *2019-09-13, version 7.1.1* Doesn’t work at all on ipad. ### 1/5 — New version won’t open on iPad *2019-08-30, version 7.1.1* It updated and now it’s a black screen with NT logo that’s it And updated on my iPhone works great but NEWS is gone, ### 1/5 — Go Loud should Go away! *2019-08-22* Since Go Loud took over (or was selected to be the basis) for News Talk Ireland’s app it is nearly impossible to find programs that I’ve been listening to for many years. It’s only been a few days so I hope the feedback is taken into consideration and they get their act together. I’m sure they don’t care if someone in the US can listen anymore, so we’ll see what happens. I’ll revisit this (or write a new review) after a couple of weeks. ### 1/5 — Podcasts not updating since February *2019-04-23, version 6.5.1* Hi, Podcasts not updating since February on the app, what’s going on? ### 1/5 — Horrible app *2019-02-15* The station has great content but the app is very slow and hard to navigate. Content is poorly titled as you will usually find everything listed under the title of the individual show with no clear sub header to explain the topic under discussion. ### 4/5 — 4.5 Star App *2018-02-21* I love the Newstalk app, use it both on iPhone and iPad. I reinstalled the Newstalk app recently - working great now. Clean effective design. One quibble - the app is not “timezone adjusted” e.g. I’m in California right now listening to OTB but the screen says I’m listening to Pat Kenny’s morning show. You can do better, NT! And I’ll give you a 5* if you do. Still, kudos to all! ### 3/5 — Great content. But mostly bad app *2017-12-11* I wouldn’t use this app if the podcast feeds were updated thoroughly and promptly. But the podcast “highlights from the Pat Kenny show” for example misses many segments. So first thing- the fast forward and rewind in iPhone control Centre and on Bluetooth controls are broken when listening back. (I don’t expect them to work while live - although that would be amazing). So whenever I tap forward or back in control Centre/Bluetooth the app starts the entire segment over again. And of course that means I can’t find my place!! Which brings me to the next thing—- remembering where we are in a listen back segment would be excellent! Also no offline playback. That would be nice. But I do think this may be possible with an account but I am unable to set one up via the app as the buttons crash or something every time I try to sign up with Facebook or google. And trying to sign up with email doesn’t work after filling out the account form. Anyways otherwise its kinda wonky but it works! Like you can most definitely listen live and kinda very uncomfortably listen back. It’s free so and the content is amazing so I can’t be complaining too much. Shame about the App *2016-09-25, version 5.3* Sluggish app which crashes 9 times out of ten just when listening to something interesting. The app seems not to use 'threads' and can only do one thing at a time, so forget about downloading something as you browse. So I've revisited it a year later and still the same problem. Useless! Back to the bbc player app which plays for 7 hrs without cutting out :/ ### 4/5 — Great little app *2014-08-17, version 4.2* I love this app, it occasionally crashes on my Iphone 4 which is very annoying ### 1/5 — Lots of potential but far too buggy *2014-04-30, version 4.2* I am a huge fan of newstalk radio and like to tune in when I am walking about going from from A to B. Until now I had used the TuneIn app. When I saw there was a newstalk app I was very excited as the UI looked nice and slick. Sadly that feeling dissolved into anger and frustration. First off the app starts playing the station as soon as you launch which is a tad annoying before I have even made my selection. The app is prone to crashing a lot. The player controls have very small tap area. Dragging to a specific part of a podcast is almost impossible and super buggy. I mainly wanted to listen to the Off the Ball podcasts and the option to download them seemed great but is once again super buggy and crashes the app. Even when you do complete the download you might as well be streaming as I could not listen to the download offline. Finally as you go deeper into the architecture of the app a back button appears right beside the curtain nav leading to constant misclicks. Long run of ads before you even begin listening to live radio. Unlistenable. For the past couple of weeks it refuses to play any of the Listen Back shows. It will only allow the Listen Live option. Breaking up shows like off the ball into singular pieces is much worse especially when it’s so hard to navigate around d the app and it isn’t updated regularly. It used to be much easier to use. ### 1/5 — Keep getting locked out *2021-04-27* Constant password issues such nce switching to iphone. Told password invalid, get reset link, successfully reset password in browser, and sure as a bear craps in the woods, the app still won’t log me in. Uninstalled, reinstalled, nothing works. I’ve even created a new account and that was working for a bit, but the app just now logged me out and asked me to log back in.... boom, same issue. I’m done. Bye bye Shane, Shane, Ciara, Pat, Andrea, etc. going to kiss y’all but app hassle isn’t worth it. ### 1/5 — Absolute rubbish! *2019-10-22, version 7.1.4* My First review if any App ever and disappointing it has to be negative, but what the hell has gone wrong? Giving up on listening to Newstalk because of this. Will pick up some of the great Podcasts separately, but questions must be asked if your App developers....Ugggh! ### 1/5 — Developers should be ashamed of themselves *2019-10-19, version 7.1.4* Without a doubt, the worse App that I’ve ever used. Hangs every time opened, requiring deletion and re-downloading. “Buttons” don’t match location on screen - an attempt to go back 15 seconds results, invariably, in a message about downloading the show. How was this rubbish ever released on to the market? Every time Pat Kenny mentions the App, @ the end of his show, a wry smile comes across my face, knowing that I’ll now have to delete and re-download prior to catching up on his subsequent show. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Outstanding app! *2018-01-07, version 6.0.6* The newstalk app is a very nice app. I find NewsTalk 106-108 very interesting and captivating to listen too! NewsTalk 106-108 puts our talk radio stations to shame in the United States! Every time I listen to NewsTalk 106-108, I learn something new and interesting. However, I am unable to set up an account because the google and Facebook buttons crash, and when attempting to register an account with e-mail, the (Sign up with e-mail) option also does not work. If the account registration buttons worked it would outstanding.
