### 3/5 — Stopped updating

*2025-10-05*

After several years of having a subscription the app stopped updating the articles about a month ago. My renewal is up in 10 days so now it is cancelled. And yes, I had the latest version of the app. I enjoyed it for many years but I’m done paying for something that doesn’t work properly.

**Developer response:** We’re sorry the earlier app experience didn’t meet expectations. Since then, we’ve launched a redesigned version with better speed, stability, navigation, and usability. We hope you’ll give the latest version a try.

### 3/5 — Weird caption shading and borderline hate speech

*2024-08-28*

This app is great and I like the sourcing and coverage.

Two weird things:

One is the use of shaded captions with low contrast colors. This does nothing but cause eye strain and urge to keep scrolling.

Two is Josh Hammer’s hate filled headings to underscore his podcast. I don’t mind balanced coverage but Hammer goes beyond having an opinion. Straight out of 1930’s Germany…

### 4/5 — Ok I guess

*2024-08-02*

Why are my “breaking news” stories at the top all from weeks ago?
Other than that it’s ok. I like reading the idiotic maga responses. Man, some people are so brainwashed. Stick to Faux people.

### 4/5 — Great news, Not Great App

*2024-06-13*

The news on the app is very curated…. To the point that it’s hard to find other news. The graying of the photo captions is very annoying. It’s harder to read and gives the impression that the captions are posted in error. It’s a silly affectation.

### 1/5 — Tried

*2023-12-25, version 8.4*

I tried to sign up and it wouldn’t let me.

### 1/5 — Serious Issues with Newsweek

*2023-10-27, version 8.3*

I have had active Newsweek subscription for few years through the App Store now all of a sudden paying them yearly is not good enough now they want you to register and sign-in after when they already receive your money, I simply don’t want to mess with all this registration process so guess what I already cancel my subscription even though it doesn’t renew till January 2024. I get enough emails in day don’t want Newsweek to start clogging up my inbox.. I am staying with Time good luck, waste of my time and $24.99. Thanks

### 1/5 — Paid for the entire year now can’t even read the magazine

*2023-01-31, version 8.0*

Paid for the entire year and now can’t even read the magazine without logging in well I don’t have the login and reason I used App Store was simply not to give out my email address because I simply don’t want bunch of junk mail from Newsweek, how can I get my money back .. not happy at all

### 2/5 — New app frustrating

*2022-11-12, version 8.0*

Why would the developers FORCE portrait mode?

### 1/5 — The only unbiased stories appear in the opinion stories.

*2022-09-17*

Biased news from cover to cover. Every story is tainted with the radical liberal narrative. What a shame that balanced and unbiased news is now a thin of the past.

### 4/5 — Importance of Newsweek in 2022

*2022-05-29*

Generally the news moves in waves. When the Ukraine invasion occurred, I relied on several sources for updates. As other events pushed input from the war into the background, I found Newsweek a quality source of ongoing vital news regarding that conflict that is reshaping our world.

### 2/5 — Updated 2x per week usually

*2021-11-04, version 7.0.0*

Why is the news usually 2-3 days old?

### 1/5 — No control of font size

*2021-08-08, version 7.0.0*

Does not allow increasing font size.

### 4/5 — app has less features

*2021-07-07*

On their web users can leave comments and search news. Not with the app

### 1/5 — App crashes constantly

*2021-06-19, version 7.0.0*

Good content but app crashes constantly

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Apple App not updating for current magazines. Last magazines listed are 6 months old. Terrible

*2026-02-11*

Not sure what is going on but it’s not updating for new magazines. This is terrible technology.

### 1/5 — Terrible App

*2026-01-18, version 8.8*

App will not update to new stories. Remains stuck to 6 month old news.

### 1/5 — App is Awful, Website is Worse

*2025-10-11*

Recently tried to read an article on their website except that there were so many pop ups (four on one screen!) and bugs that it would cause it to constantly reload and go back up to the top. Was not possible to get even half way through.

Came here to see if their app is any better and clearly it is not, if anything it appears worse because of all the extra data it gathers and is apparently impossible to end your subscription.

This is why journalism is dying.

Do better.

**Developer response:** We’re sorry the earlier app experience didn’t meet expectations. Since then, we’ve launched a redesigned version with better speed, stability, navigation, and usability. We hope you’ll give the latest version a try.

### 1/5 — Tech support?

*2025-10-09*

My app has been stuck on the same top stories for 26 days. No amount of refreshing or reinstalling will deliver any, well…news.

No response from tech support. This isn’t the first time this has happened. But it’s by far the longest it has gone without being addressed. Would love some help here. I’m a paid subscriber and I’m wondering what my money is funding.

**Developer response:** We’re sorry the earlier app experience did not perform as expected. This review reflects an older version of the Newsweek app, and we’ve since launched a redesigned experience focused on improved speed, stability, navigation, and usability. We hope you’ll try the latest version.

### 1/5 — Terrible App

*2025-10-08, version 8.8*

App will not update to new stories. Remains stuck to 25 day old news.

### 1/5 — NO INTEGRITY ‼️

*2025-07-14*

4 weeks ago i paid for an annual ad free subscription - every issue is covered with ads including a constant one for their 1600 i have sent 15 emails and 15 voice mails with No response - they are running a scam…

**Developer response:** We’re sorry for the frustration you experienced with subscription access. This review reflects an earlier version of the Newsweek app, and we’ve since launched a redesigned experience with improved sign-in, subscriber access, performance, and usability. We hope you’ll try the latest version. For support with the current app, please contact us at support@newsweek.com

### 1/5 — Stopped updating

*2024-12-05, version 8.7*

Several weeks ago, Matt Gaetz removed himself from consideration for AG- today, 12/5, the top story is how Gaetz is meeting with Congress.

### 1/5 — Embarrassing

*2024-12-04*

Apps top stories is 14 days ago. It's embarrassing for high profile news magazine when a simple functionality "top news" is 14 days old 😂

### 1/5 — Cancellation

*2024-11-11, version 8.7*

Why is it impossible for me to delete my account with Newsweek. What nefariousness is this?

### 1/5 — Cancel My Subscription

*2024-04-26, version 8.5*

This shouldn’t this hard a thing to do. Where’s the cancel button?!?

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Major upgrade from the old app

*2026-05-07*

I downloaded the new Newsweek app and it feels like a major upgrade. The layout is cleaner, the reading experience is smoother, and it’s much easier to find the stories I care about.

I especially like that the app brings together breaking news, analysis and different perspectives in one place without feeling cluttered. It feels much more modern and premium than the older app experience.

Excited to see where Newsweek takes this next, especially with more personalization and member features.

### 5/5 — B K Shugg

*2025-10-10, version 8.8*

I TOTALLY AGREE!

### 5/5 — Bad Newsweek!!!!!

*2025-10-07*

What in the world is going on with your app? Old pictures from weeks ago. Old content from weeks ago. Are you serious? I used to LOVE Newsweek. Not anymore. I thought, maybe it’s me. Maybe I need to delete the app and download fresh. Puh-leeeeze!!! Same thing as before. You guys better get it together, this is crazy. What happened? Don’t you guys test things before you put it out there? Obviously not. How did this get past the front door? You guys must be maintaining this app with blinders on, I swear. So unprofessional!! It’s as if a child whose baby teeth just fell out is managing this app. You should be ashamed of yourselves. Everybody is talking SO bad about you, don’t you get it? You should change the name to Newscreep!

**Developer response:** We’re sorry the earlier app experience didn’t meet expectations. Since then, we’ve launched a redesigned version with better speed, stability, navigation, and usability. We hope you’ll give the latest version a try.

### 5/5 — Finally, real news, not propaganda! Recommended for all thinkers.

*2024-09-29, version 8.7*

I am sick and tired of propaganda. I enjoy that Newsweek gives me what I am looking for, information, and when it gives me opinion it calls it opinion and then presents an alternative view.
By doing so, I feel they respect my intellect and I respect their jornalism.
CNN Foxnews, MSNBC, BBC etc. assume we are stupid clay in their hands, Newsweek respects us.

### 5/5 — Cancellation

*2021-11-25*

Someone, other than me, ended my 30 day free trial of Newsweek. I enjoy reading the magazine, and find its extensive coverage of many topics enjoyable.

### 5/5 — Great

*2021-05-02, version 7.0.0*

Excellent reporting!
Keep it up.

### 5/5 — Great Journalism

*2020-11-22, version 7.0.0*

The only fair and journalism left.Fox News can longer be trusted.

### 5/5 — Güncelleme

*2019-12-09, version 7.0.0*

Güncelleme vermediğiniz için son 3 sayıyı alamadım

### 5/5 — Problem

*2019-12-08*

Nothing but trouble most of this last year. I am never recognized as a subscriber any more.
thanks

**Developer response:** Dear Newsweek subscriber, please send us an e-mail and we'll check what's happening to your account. Our Customer Support e-mail is support@newsweek.com. Make sure you are using the most recent version of our app (v. 7.0.0). And thank you for supporting good journalism!

### 5/5 — Version 6.0 will not load on iPad

*2019-09-08, version 6.0*

The new update does not launch on my iPad. It displays Preparing Newsweek indefinitely and the app never actually launches. A fix is urgently needed.
