## What is NewtonDV?

Just imagine you want to find out which forces have an impact on a bungee jumper. Or whether the amount of fun you have on a roller coaster differs depending on sitting in the first or the last car. Maybe you want to get to the bottom of the moon landing in 1969. Did it really take place or are the videos just fakes produced in a film studio somewhere on our planet as alleged by several obscure sources?

These and other questions about kinematics can be answered easily with NewtonDV. The app analyses the movement of persons or objects in a video using mere physics. All you need is a given film sequence — or record your own video with NewtonDV.

### 5/5 — Vielseitige, rundum gelungene Videoanalyse-App für den Unterricht und für die Materialerstellung

Ich nutze NewtonDV inzwischen seit vielen Jahren, insbesondere für die Erstellung von Unterrichtsmaterial. Dabei nutze ich vor allem die Möglichkeit zur Erstellung von Serien- und Stroboskopbildern von Alltagsbewegungen. NewtonDV ist, soweit ich es überblicke, die einzige App für Tablets, die diese Möglichkeit bietet. Das Handling empfinde ich dabei als deutlich bequemer als das mächtigerer Apps für PCs, die Ergebnisse sind mindestens genauso gut. Auch die Möglichkeit, Geschwindigkeits- und Beschleunigungspfeile in die Serienbilder einzufügen, ist ein Alleinstellungsmerkmal von NewtonDV unter den Tablet-Apps. Sie eignet sich sehr gut, um im Unterricht darüber zu arbeiten, dass nur der tangentiale Anteil der Beschleunigung zu einer Änderung des Tempos einer Bewegung führt, während der Anteil der Beschleunigung, der orthogonal auf der momentanen Bewegungsrichtung steht (Richtung des Geschwindigkeitspfeils), lediglich die Richtung ändert. So kann der Aufbau tragfähiger Grundvorstellungen zum Beschleunigungsbegriff visuell gut unterstützt werden. Bei Kreisbewegungen mit konstantem Tempo kann man beispielsweise sehr schön sehen, dass a in jedem Moment senkrecht auf v steht und einen konstanten Betrag hat, während sich das Verhältnis der tangentialen und radialen Kompenente bei einer Schaukel / einem Pendel permanent ändert. Die Pfeildarstellung wurde mit dem neuesten Update noch einmal maßgeblich verbessert.
Die Diagramme, die man mit NewtonDV erstellen kann, sind optisch gut gestaltet, so dass man sie direkt in Arbeitsblätter einbinden kann. Die Möglichkeit, mit Schiebereglern Kurvenanpassungen vorzunehmen, ist ein weiteres wichtiges Feature, das es erlaubt, schnell zu prüfen, inwieweit sich eine Bewegung – zumindest stückweise – durch idealisierende Modelle beschreiben lässt. Dadurch ist NewtonDV ein sehr gutes Tool, um zu zeigen, dass sich diese Idealmodelle auf viele Alltagsbewegungen erstreckt. Die Bedienung ist intuitiv, so dass auch Schüler*innen mit NewtonDV schnell zu guten Analyseergebnissen kommen können. NewtonDV ist damit eine für den Kinematik- und Dynamikunterricht vielseitig nutzbare, rundum gelungene App für die Verwendung im Unterricht und für die Materialerstellung – aus meiner Sicht ein Must-Have für Physiklehrer*innen. App neue Version 2.2 stürzt immer ab beim Zugriff auf die Kamera und das Fotoalbum. Berechtigungen wurden gegeben. App wurde neu installiert.

Schön wäre noch, wenn man SloMo Aufnahmen auswerten könnte ohne am Ende manuell die Zeiten umzurechnen.

### 4/5 — Videoanalyseprogramm zur Untersuchung physikalischer Bewegungen

Die Bedienung des Programms macht von Anfang an Spaß. Zum Start stehen vier Beispielvideos zum Experimentieren bereit. Interessanter ist jedoch die Aufnahme und Auswertung eigener Videos von verschiedenartigen Bewegungen. Die Vorgehensweise ist extrem einfach: Koordinatenursprung, Skalierung, Messpunkte setzen. Die Messwerte stehen als Tabelle (Weiterverarbeitung mit einer Tabellenkalkulation ist möglich), Diagramm und Serienbild zur Verfügung. Eine Regression als Trendkurve erfordert ein wenig Fingerspitzengefühl. Der Autor hat sofort und sehr nett auf einen Fehlerhinweis reagiert und diesen beseitigt. Er bemüht sich, das Programm weiterzuentwickeln. 5 Sterne, bei zukünftiger Speichermöglichkeit. Zum Testen gibt es eine kostenlose Lite-Version.
