I’m so glad for whoever made the switch to this new app! ### 1/5 — Pretty bad *2025-05-24, version 2.0.5912* The redesign was welcome but it has progressively gotten worse as time goes on. They spam you about “Financial Tools” and “Refer a friend” with both taking up screen real estate on your Home Screen. You can’t get rid of either. It’s honestly pretty ridiculous. Needing to switch between personal and business accounts still means I have to completely re enter my login credentials EVERY TIME I log in! The camera used to only glitch out once when trying to deposit a check. Now it glitches out two or even three times a session. The app still stays open when you minimize it or sleep your phone — an unaddressed security flaw. Very inconvenient… ### 1/5 — Frustrating and with fewer features! *2024-01-13* Update Jan 2024: I have entirely given up on logging into this app automatically and have to enter my entire user name and password EVERY TIME I OPEN THE APP. The camera for deposits still glitches. This app still stinks and I avoid it except when I have to use it. How many years does it take to fix basic bugs? Update 11/4: Tried it on my iPad this morning, couldn’t be worse, right? When I finally dug through the menus and found the Deposit Check function, I discovered that it errors out instead of connecting to the camera. No options to allow camera through iPad settings, either. Previous review: It keeps asking me to change my password, which is torture while thumb typing, and when I finally get in, I can’t deposit a check because it says it can’t access my accounts. Worst, the old app let me switch between my personal and business accounts. This app only lets me access one or the other with Touch ID and completely forgets my other login every time I move from one to the other. This is an improvement??? Edit after another month of use: This app is impossible to use if you have both personal and business accounts with Newtown. I have mistakenly deposited checks into the wrong accounts because the app makes it look like I am logging into my business accounts, but then switches me to my personal accounts without notice. AWFUL downgrade from the old app!!!! 8/7 Update: new update, new issues. Did I mention that the app connecting to your phone camera when you want to deposit a check only works sometimes? I usually have had to back out and reconnect to the camera at least once per session. Added to that now are weird, esoteric error messages that float above your check images. Sometimes there seems to be a real error in the clarity of the image, sometimes not. Also had to enter my password AGAIN today ### 1/5 — Horrible App, barely works *2023-12-16, version 1.0.5806* This new app is such a significant downgrade from the old app. I can’t even deposit checks without the app constantly logging me out right after taking the pictures of the check. Can no longer turn on/off my debit card from the app. The UI is horrible and the charges are displayed in a way that isn’t immediately clear where it’s coming from.
