### 2/5 — Play back

*2026-04-25, version 5.4.8*

I absolutely loved this app. Once I figured out how I use it everything worked great, until it didn’t. When connected to Bluetooth it won’t play the walk up names and will only play the song. I really hope this gets fixed.

### 4/5 — This one is a winner!

*2026-03-06, version 5.4.2*

I rolled the dice on this app after experiencing endless frustration with some of the other popular walk-up music apps for iOS. I gotta say, Next Batter Up is already a massive upgrade over the horribly outdated UIs and atrocious customer experience of the more established apps. The developer seems to be really engaged with his customers and the frequent cadence of updates gives me confidence that he’s committed to ongoing bug fixes and feature enhancements. I’ve encountered some bugs that I’ll be passing along, but I look forward to making Next Batter Up a core part of our team’s gameday experience.

### 2/5 — Crashing

*2025-05-16, version 5.3.5*

The app keeps crashing every time I try to add a new player. It deletes everything and I have to add the player 2-3 times before it actually saves.

### 2/5 — Low volume

*2025-04-19, version 5.2.0*

Playlist on app does not play as loudly now since update. It is very low compared to the announcements

### 2/5 — Glitchy

*2025-04-14, version 5.1.7*

setting up was easy, but functionality wasn’t there. It delays playing, often mixed up names. Plays over another player’s announcement. Disappointed for a paid app.

### 5/5 — Great idea and functionality

*2025-04-08, version 5.1.3*

After a few failed attempts at other similar apps, I decided to take a chance on this one, best $5 I could’ve spent. Running the music and announcements for my daughter’s middle school softball team has impressed many others and I’ve recommended this app to all of them. The AI generated voice announcements are a game changer!

### 5/5 — Great App and Great Customer Service

*2025-04-04, version 5.1.2*

I was having some issues while setting up my team. I emailed support and received a response almost immediately. The issue was determined to be an app issue and they worked with me as they resolved it. Keeping me informed along the way. The creator was very apologetic for my issues and went above and beyond to rectify the situation. In less than 24 they pushed out two updates to correct the issue and I was able to complete my team with name announcements. Look no further for a great app for walkup songs and amazing customer service. It’s super easy to use and you can create multiple teams and copy players between them. It’s easy to reorder your lineup and bench players who aren’t playing. It’s easy to switch between players as well. Thank you for a great app and customer service. I will surely recommend the app to others.

### 3/5 — Good app - for the most part

*2024-10-11, version 5.0.3*

I found that the app was very easy to use. I didn’t have any problems other than that the only music app that you can use is Apple Music. I currently only have Spotify premium and I didn’t want to pay for another music app. I used the free trial and got all the songs on there then when I canceled the free trial the app wiped the songs out. The app was great for the most part.

### 2/5 — Unstable & Frustrating

*2024-08-31, version 5.0.2*

This app is very unstable, playing the audio is very delayed. Spent time setting up but afraid to use at a game because of the inconsistency of playback and stopping of the audio.

### 5/5 — It’s forever new

*2024-08-27, version 5.0.1*

I’ve actually had this app for years. I downloaded it for my daughters softball team and it gets plenty of use. The fact that I paid for it once and it keeps getting better is amazing. There are constant updates to this app adding new features. We’re having so much with the new AI voices!

### 5/5 — Great developer response!

*2024-05-14, version 4.3.2*

Amazing app! Ran into an issue and messaged the developer at 9pm. Responded back and helped me figure it out within 2 minutes of sending the message. I’d gladly pay more for this app!

### 3/5 — Enhanced voices?

*2024-05-11, version 4.3.2*

Works well and easy to use, except it doesn’t have any of the enhanced voices r any instructions in how to get them???

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Music not playing

*2026-06-13, version 5.4.9*

Seems fine at first but a waste of money because the app glitches and won’t play the music after announcements. Annoying to go through the trouble just for it to not work.

### 1/5 — Error

*2026-06-02, version 5.4.9*

The music is not playing

### 1/5 — Needs work

*2026-05-07, version 5.4.9*

Starting out this app seems like it would be such a great asset, but there are plenty of features that are absolutely flawed. The clone feature does not clone everything over. Each time you clone somebody you have to re-add the announcers spiel in the middle of the song. It doesn’t just follow over from where your previously had it.. 88% of the time when I play the batter walk up song the announcer doesn’t announce the name or the number like it’s supposed to, it will mute the song, but the announcer never says anything. As much as I think this app would do amazing things there are still some flaws that need to be fixed because so far me paying for this app was not worth it.

### 1/5 — Lag

*2025-10-31, version 5.3.5*

I really don’t like it. I’ve been using ballpark Dj this entire time but I seen it on a Facebook post so I decided to download this to try to do my other daughter’s team and I really don’t like it. It’s not even playing the whole song probably even after I downloaded it.

### 1/5 — No help from support team

*2025-07-30, version 5.3.5*

I have reached out using the iMessage and facebook messenger about the app’s ability to pronounce a player’s name correctly. It’s been over 48 hours without even a single word. At least say “we are experiencing higher than normal volumes and will return to you as soon as possible”. I am requesting you refund my money.

### 1/5 — Needs more collaboration

*2025-05-27, version 5.3.5*

I wish I could have known that this app would be useless before downloading it only allows you to use apple music no other streaming service well I use Spotify not apple music so the app is completely useless to me

### 1/5 — Buggy App

*2025-04-01, version 5.0.3*

You spend all this time creating a lineup only to find out it’s buggy when you introduce players. It only introduces the first player then skips the other names. Maybe issue with the AI announcing

### 1/5 — Junk

*2024-10-04, version 5.0.3*

Paid and downloaded the app and it just freezes. What a joke

### 1/5 — Bluetooth playback is buggy

*2023-09-30, version 4.2.9*

**UPDATE3**
Brought the rating back down to 1 star since the latest updates seem to have broken it again. The developer keeps blaming the Bluetooth speakers but I’ve tried plenty of high quality speakers ($400+) and they all have the same issue. The first player will play fine but subsequent player walk up songs will not output any sound. Other apps handle this fine so it’s not a speaker or Bluetooth issue but instead an issue with this app. As it stands, I have to force close the app after playing one walk up song in order to then open the app back up and play the next song. Extremely frustrating.
**UPDATE2** Updated my review to five stars after developer responded to the issues raised in my review and fixed the Bluetooth bug. This is now officially the best baseball DJ app in the App Store (and I have them all). I commend the developer for his responsiveness and willingness to accept constructive criticism and make his app better. **END UPDATE2** *UPDATE* While I appreciate the developers detailed response to my review and understand the limitations with the Bluetooth protocol, there are two other competing apps that don’t have this same issue. I tried them and they work just fine so they must be doing something to get around the Bluetooth limitations the developer mentioned. While this app is the best of the three apps I’ve tried in terms of UI and features, the fact that it can consistently play over Bluetooth with speakers that the other two competing apps have no problems with means that this app is unusable for me. I recommend that the developer research what the competition is doing and implement a fix. *END UPDATE* Regular playback works fine. However, Bluetooth playback is very buggy and will not play back the names and only unmute halfway through the song. Other times it will not play back half a second of intro. All the other baseball DJ apps work fine so it’s definitely an issue with this app.

### 1/5 — Didn't work

*2023-07-21, version 4.2.9*

I bought this app and it wouldn't even let me put the songs on the player. Because I didn't have Apple Music.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great app!

*2026-05-13, version 5.4.9*

Great app. Elevates the experience for the players and crowd. The app does what it says beautifully and the support by the developer is superb. Helpful responses within minutes of texting. Personal and invested support. The developer took my suggestions and within days the app was even better. Well worth the one time fee. Sad the season has ended, yet future team parents will continue to use this app. Highest recommendation!

### 5/5 — Love!

*2026-05-06, version 5.4.9*

I’m new to being the walk up song mom and originally started with another app (won’t name names but I think we all might know) and quickly got frustrated with lagging etc. I heard about this app through another mom and it’s been SO easy to maneuver and best of all, NO LAGGING! Customer support responds very quickly if you have any issues and are super informative! 10/10

### 5/5 — Excellent Service

*2026-03-23, version 5.4.5*

Everything is easy to set up and works great. I needed support on a Sunday night and they helped me out.

### 5/5 — Great Fun

*2026-03-11, version 5.4.4*

This app is a total blast for our team! The kids absolutely love hearing their names called out (the AI voices work surprisingly well) and getting to hear their chosen walk-up songs. It’s been a huge hit.

The developer has also been incredibly responsive, even helping us troubleshoot some audio issues to ensure everything runs smoothly. Highly recommended!

### 5/5 — Best App for Batting Intros!

*2026-03-08, version 5.4.3*

This is by far the simplest and best batting into walk-up music app. The announcers are also very good. User friendly - easy to use. Highly recommend this app over the others with more reviews.

### 5/5 — Great app and great customer service!

*2025-06-13, version 5.3.5*

This app gives a lot of flexibility for what you can do with walk up songs! I had a song that wouldn’t work from iTunes and customer service was very responsive and helpful to resolve the issue! Definitely recommend or your next baseball tourney!!

### 5/5 — Great app!

*2025-06-01, version 5.3.5*

Downloaded yesterday to set up some walk up songs and so impressed on how easy it is to set up! Love the option of the AI voice generator so I don’t have to use mine. Highly recommend!

### 5/5 — A life changer!

*2025-05-13, version 5.3.4*

I’m a grown human and I actually giggled with delight putting together my teams playlist and each song clip! It was pretty easy. Gone are my days of cumbersome Apple Music playlists and searching for the exact moment in the song that the kids want to walk up to the plate with, I miss every batter and the bash running queuing up the next song. So annoying. This app is genius! I cannot believe I didn’t find this sooner after years of fat fingering the wrong song or moment. Whoever made this must really like for kids to have a good experience and they had mercy on the coaches. Thanks!

### 5/5 — Excellent App!

*2025-05-02, version 5.3.1*

App is easy to use during set up and in game. Support is also very responsive in helping out

### 5/5 — Good choice

*2025-04-17, version 5.1.9*

Support has been very helpful when needed and once you get the layout and how things work down, it’s pretty easy to set up. Integrates well with Apple Music just create a separate playlist and ensure to add the song to the playlist and you are good to go. My only complaint would be that it should be optional to include the jersey number when player creation.
