## Newest reviews (10 of 76)

### 4/5 — Seems good, but update?

*2024-10-12, version 4.4.0*

It’s great, but been 6 months since an update. When will it be updated to the current stockfish 17?

### 3/5 — Kind of works

*2023-10-26*

The app is pretty buggy amd decides sometimes that the best move is to delete a piece.

I also wish it would show a few candidate options instead of just the top computed ones.

### 4/5 — Good but not great

*2023-08-04, version 4.2.13*

For 3 dollars it is nice to have on my phone if I want to see what moves I should have played in a game but I’d be willing to pay more for a feature that lets me use a screenshot or photo of a board to pre place the pieces rather than have to do it myself.

### 4/5 — No Arrows or Directional Lines

*2022-05-23, version 4.2.6*

The app does not provide an arrow, or other directional indicators for the next best move. It does provide letter and number for the squares however. This addition would make the app much better and easier to use.

### 4/5 — Buena

*2021-05-28, version 4.1.0*

Encuentra buenos movimientos y te permite simular posiciones con facilidad. La desventaja es que no es tan didáctica como otras apps

### 4/5 — Pretty good,

*2021-03-14, version 4.1.0*

It’s a good app, but I really don’t see any major advantages to using this over the free website, they both give you access to pretty much the same things. I may be nitpicking but in my opinion if you pay for an app you should get access to some premium features, I’m not saying paid users should get access to the most advanced hardware, I just think people that pay for the app should be paying for more features compared to the website, instead of the app being practically a carbon copy of the free website. Other than that, great app! Keep up the good work.

### 1/5 — Always error response

*2020-10-05, version 3.3.0*

I get error response most of the time. I’m so frustrated about it. Fix it please or I will just have to delete this app from my iPhone.

### 4/5 — Fantastic StockFish Engine

*2020-07-03, version 3.2.0*

This app is great, offering not only a fantastic UI, but also in-depth lines Into complex positions. Only issue is the fact that there’s no way to cancel a calculation. For instance, if I start a calculation but wish to change the position, I’m forced to quit the application. Other than that very minuscule issue, this app is highly recommended

### 1/5 — False advertising

*2020-05-15, version 3.2.0*

The app said $2.99 and I was charged $10.81. Extremely disappointing app. A subscription is needed after purchasing!

### 1/5 — App is the same as webpage.

*2020-03-09, version 3.1.0*

I tried to pay to use extra servers, sign in doesn’t work. I wouldn’t have purchased this app had I known it’s the exact same as the webpage.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Worst app that include bugs

*2026-04-26*

I paid for this app expecting a functional, maintained product, and what I’ve gotten instead is a neglected, buggy mess. It’s honestly frustrating how little effort has gone into fixing even the most basic issues.

There are still critical bugs that completely break the game, like the same colour pieces moving consecutively when it’s clearly the other player’s turn. That’s not a minor issue, that’s a fundamental failure. How is something this obvious still not fixed?

On top of that, the UI feels outdated and poorly maintained. It looks like this app has been abandoned while still charging users money.

If you’re going to keep this as a paid app, then act like it and maintain it properly. Right now, it feels like you’re taking people’s money without delivering a working product. That’s not just disappointing, it’s unacceptable.

Fix the bugs, update the UI, and release a proper update immediately. If you’re not willing to support this app, then stop charging for it.

### 1/5 — Waste of money

*2025-12-09, version 5.1.1*

This thing makes moves for the wrong colour randomly no matter what you do. Poorly made DONT buy

### 1/5 — Good if you are new I guess

*2025-03-25, version 5.0.4*

If you’re playing against anyone with the slightest idea how to play. This apps a good way to help you lose

### 1/5 — You know what’s great?

*2024-10-17*

If the app actually turns on. Your update seems to have some challenges. The fact that I can’t play anything drops this significantly.

### 1/5 — (Update May 2024) Same issue! LC0 version 0.30 with Networks Family T81

*2024-05-26, version 4.4.0*

Please, fix. I reported via you support email and nobody had taken care of. If you can use the récente T81 network family, makes LC0 useless. Error message is after downloading the network: “engine disconnected”.

NOBODY IN SUPPORT RESPONDS, JUST GHOSTING.

### 1/5 — terrible UI

*2024-01-29, version 4.3.0*

Absolutely horrendous UI. I've never had so much trouble using a chess analysis tool.

### 1/5 — Kind of works

*2023-11-21, version 4.3.0*

The app is pretty buggy and decides sometimes that the best move is to delete a piece. I also wish it would show a few candidate options instead of just the top computed ones.

### 1/5 — Banned from chess.com

*2021-01-13, version 3.3.0*

This app got me banned from chess.com, how did that happen?

### 1/5 — Stole my money

*2021-01-04, version 3.3.0*

I paid you guys the 20 bucks for the one year subscription. I log in recently and the subscription is gone. There is no option to restore my purchase. Pretty weak guys.. pretty weak.

### 1/5 — Waste of time

*2020-11-24, version 3.3.0*

Every move it suggests is a blunder. Clearly whoever designed this is a sadist

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Awesome Tool

*2026-06-09, version 5.2.0*

Both versions are great but the paid is supremely advanced

### 5/5 — Best one

*2025-09-21*

Best ncm ever

### 5/5 — Melhor app

*2025-03-07*

O melhor aplicativo de xadrez pra estudar. Perfeito!

### 5/5 — Self play

*2024-08-19, version 4.4.0*

It would be good if the next update had a self play mode where you pick 2 different engines to play each other i.e Stockfish and Leela chess zero on the same app also please add Komodo the latest version as well

### 5/5 — Very cool

*2023-02-04, version 4.2.12*

Very cool

### 5/5 — Worth it

*2022-11-21, version 4.2.8*

This app does so much to hold my data and present me with multiple engine calculations. I invested in the Pro and will renew when the time comes. Sometimes “FREE” is very limited in what can do for your game. The Pro NCM is well worth the cost to me.

### 5/5 — Suggestions

*2020-11-08, version 3.3.0*

Add in option to play engine vs engine
Add some themes that woud be nice!! Add analysis arrows great app!!

Edit: I want a way to copy the full pgn when playing engine vs engine it just copys one notation not the whole thing please fix!!
Great software I highly recommended for analysis of engines against yourself but some things need to be fixed and added like an database for some openings too for free like the sicilian defense caro-kahn and more basic openings for free anyway if you can add these suggestions for me it would be great!!! Great software!

### 5/5 — I pad version

*2020-06-11, version 3.2.0*

Very helpful app in practicing chess and learning mistakes and best move
When there ll be ipad version
Please do

### 5/5 — Very Useful App

*2020-05-24, version 3.2.0*

It may not be intuitive but as soon as you learn how to use this app, it is very helpful in the move analysis. I have upgraded to the pro version as I can make use of the 20core CPU in move calculations - with 4 different engines. For now I don’t have to buy a muti-core PC for the purposes of doing move analysis as this app allows me do the same.

My suggestion for improvement - while it it compatible with iPad, it does not do the landscape format. Thus it is a little bit awkward to the edit on my saved boards using the iPad as the display is in the portrait mode, and my keyboard is oriented on the landscape.

Another thing if possible is to increase the analysis time as the max time is only 30seconds. While 30 sec analysis can do a lot, the additional time will ensure that you are getting the best move possible within that alloted time. I know it means addition of more hardware and more costs. You get what you pay for, and for me if I am getting my money’s worth, I could possible pay more.

### 5/5 — No other app like it

*2020-05-18, version 3.2.0*

This app is like the website but more convenient. It’s amazing. I learn a lot using this app and even the free version is pretty good. The paid version offers a much more robust calculation for the real serious chess players.
