### 4/5 — Tracks Daily expenses well

*2022-10-10, version 4.8.2*

Often simple is all we need.

### 3/5 — Perfect, but need Apple Watch version

*2021-11-07, version 4.8.2*

It is all about ease of use and quick entry. That is why Apple Watch version is highly needed.

For those who needs track complex transactions ( divided on multiple categories) or have many accounts etc. This app ain't for them

### 4/5 — Great App

*2020-11-05*

I’ve been using this app for a while now but since iOS 14 I get a blank screen from the top of the app.
Not sure if this is a bug anymore else has gotten.
Otherwise love the app.

### 3/5 — Moneybook isa better app than this one

*2020-10-31, version 4.8.1*

I have been an user of moneybook for many years until now but because of the impossibility of download data to my computer I decided to try with next. It is a good app but I still think moneybook is a lot better.

### 3/5 — Icons also need titles

*2019-04-07, version 4.7.1*

Found some of the icons confusing. Would have liked a category name to also display either when I selected the icon to enter an expense or display when I swiped left to the transactions list page..

### 4/5 — Great but expensive

*2018-12-27, version 4.5.2*

Very easy to use and very quick, this is just to track your expenses which you can commit to it easily since inputing the data is quick, but its a bit overpriced. Dont get me wrong there is no way you can find any other app this simple to input your expenses, but $2.99 is too high for just tapping numbers!

### 3/5 — Good but has weird limits

*2018-08-02*

You can’t add/remove categories. You’re stuck with the once they gave you. You can only change the icon. Like Why? That’s just dumb. If you want something simple, I don’t want to see categories I don’t use.

There is no way to label categories, you just have icons. It’s hard to remember abstract things such as healthcare or “fun stuff” via random icons. I’d like to at least have the option to have labels.

Overall, this feels not well designed like apple, but more as unfinished by a guy who is busy doing other stuff.

### 4/5 — Love the app, hate the response time

*2018-01-02*

I have used this app off and on between my time using YNAB. I love it. It's clean, quick to input, and useful. I don't love the fact that I've emailed the dev and tweeted at them with no response.

### 3/5 — App crashing

*2017-12-05, version 4.5*

For this version when I tried to edit the description of a blank entry the app would crash and goes back to the home screen.

### 3/5 — Crashes

*2017-12-04, version 4.5*

Crashes on latest version of iOS on iPhone 6S Plus when trying to give expenses names.

### 3/5 — Crash on new version

*2017-11-30*

This app will crash on a iPhone 6s whenever I want to add details of a transaction after updating to the newest version. Never happened before.

### 4/5 — Fantastic... but it could be better!

*2017-05-21, version 4.4*

I love the simplicity, but simplicity doesn't means lack of some features... i hope you guys add more features.
I would really appreciate it if you guys add "input" to the widget.

Thank you!

### 4/5 — Next

*2017-05-02*

This app is simple and useful, but a few things which I think are missing are:
- a way to add money, such as when I cash a cheque (this way I can track how much money I make, not simply spend)
- a way to remove icons which I do not use, as currently there is a set amount of icons which cannot be changed
-lastly and least important, if possible, a way to remove "shortcuts" added to the 3D Touch menu

Overall the app is useful, the simplicity of it is the best part, and there are some subtle features which make it nice, but i think making a few small enhancements would largely increase its functionality, thanks!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — App has a bug

*2020-12-05*

I like the app and use it a lot. However, if I’m using the app but then switch to another such as a bank, when I come back the view shifts to half way down the screen. I then have to close and restart the app. I’ve sent a few emails to give feedback to the developers, but there’s been no response. It’s disappointing for a paid for app.

### 1/5 — Number of categories

*2019-07-17, version 4.7.1*

How do I edit the number of categories? I just use 10, but I can’t find a way to delete the unnecessary ones. Thanks.

### 1/5 — Just a little to basic

*2018-11-06, version 4.5.1*

The app perfectly simple and it is easy enough to use but it’s just to basic. All it does is add. You can see what you have spent but not how much you have left. You can add expenses but you cannot reconcile the information against your bank statement. You can track expenses but what’s that point if you cannot also track income. This app needs a bit more and it would be a perfect simple finance app. As it is it’s not a finance app it’s just a calculator that only does addition.

### 1/5 — No support and replies

*2018-05-04*

The developer has completely abandoned this app.

### 1/5 — Unusable

*2017-12-07*

The app crashes every time you try to add a description to an entry.

Useable at the momement.

iPhone 6 Plus, iOS 11.1.2

### 1/5 — Broken

*2017-12-01, version 4.5*

Been using your app for two year. It’s broken af right now. Fix it please.

### 1/5 — Crashing

*2017-11-30*

Since the latest update, the app keeps crashing and I can’t log any of my spending. Please fix

### 1/5 — Missing basic functionality, five stars if fixed

*2017-02-05, version 4.4*

I bought this thinking based on the pictures in the description that I could use my Apple Watch to input expenses, but discovered that I can only see the expenses I've previously inputted. The iPhone widget is equally useless. There should at least be an option to change the functionality of the Apple Watch app and the iPhone widget. I'll unfortunately sticking to the older Expenses OK which is much more functional with a widget that allows for direct input is expenses without having to load the app. But if the developers fix this problem, then it's four or five stars.

### 1/5 — NEXT Budget app

*2017-01-19*

A disappointment. No support. No replies. A waste of $ & time. Grrrrr.

### 1/5 — Useless now

*2014-10-30*

I notified the developer that there was a problem with all my categories being mixed up with other symbols. This meant I could no longer accurately monitor my expenses because the symbols no longer meant anything to me! I was told this was an ios8 compatability issue and that they were working on it.

An update has just been released, claiming to now support ios8 but I still have the same problem.

So the app is now useless to me unless I start all over again. No thanks

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great budget app

*2019-11-01, version 4.8*

Apps come and go, but this one has stayed with me for yours.

**Developer response:** Very cool to hear, thank you!

### 5/5 — The simplest and the best

*2019-10-10, version 4.8*

Truly the best app for expense logging. It’s as simple as it gets and so as fast as it can be. It’s not an app for tracking your balances, you can use mint for that, this one is specifically for tracking where you money go to and keeping yourself on track.

P.S. Also, on iPhone 11 pro with iOS 13.1 there’s a minor bug when sometimes top 1/3 of the screen gets empty, could you please check it? It’s not a problem as simple reopening app helps right away, but still.

### 5/5 — Very near perfect now.

*2019-08-29*

After a few dicey moments with bugs and reliability a year or so ago it now seems ALMOST totally reliable. The only slight issue remains the big it's had for YEARS whereby editing a pre-entered recurring expense will almost always completely mess up the entry, usually requiring 4 or 5 attempts at re-edit before it'll save the description and amount you want instead of seemingly randomised values. Other than that though, and after a sobering experience with simply APPALLING issues with speed, reliability and total inability to sync with its rival "Pennies" I've had for over 18 months now, I think a bump up to 5 stars is in order.

### 5/5 — Love this app!

*2019-03-19, version 4.7*

I have been using Next for 5 years. I track all of my expenses and it is so convenient to put in one time and recurring expenses. I can quickly see by category how much I spent by month or year and selecting my own categories using the icons was great.

**Developer response:** Thank you! So glad to hear it’s a helpful app for you 😊

### 5/5 — Best and easiest expense tracker

*2017-12-07, version 4.5.1*

I’ve been using Next since it first appeared. After trying many other apps, this is the one I’ve stuck. I use it with iOS and Mac daily.

Recently, I had a problem with naming expenses. About four days after writing the developer about this, the update was there fixing my problem.

Well worth a look if you’re hesitant.

### 5/5 — Thanks

*2017-12-06, version 4.5.1*

Thanks for the iPhone X update and crash fix!

### 5/5 — CRASH

*2017-12-01, version 4.5*

App is crashing on iPhone 7 Plus, IOS 11.1.2, when I try to insert a description/name to my expense.

### 5/5 — Great app, but buggy in current version

*2017-12-01, version 4.5*

The app crashes when inputting notes. Please, fix ASAP. I love using this app, and I want to keep using it, but it needs to be functional.

### 5/5 — Bug

*2017-11-30, version 4.5*

i found crash when edit the detail in the month page

### 5/5 — It really just works!

*2017-05-20*

This is the first expense tracking app on iOS that I love. It does what it says, tracks your expenses with simple categories. No connecting to your bank, no budgets or bloat!

It's smooth operation and intuitive interface is beautiful. There could be some improvements here and there (ability to remove unused icons) but overall it's great!
