I tried everything and nothing worked. Collabora is fully functional on web browser. Please fix ### 4/5 — Great app with lots of features, but E2EE feature does exist yet *2026-07-07* The app is loaded with features that make it excellent for accessing cloud files on iOS on the go. The syncing of photos is also seamless! This would be 5 stars, but the app/client-side E2EE continues to receive the checksums error regardless of updating/reinstalling the app and resetting E2EE on my server, leading me to believe this feature is just not available for iOS yet. It works on every other device I have except iOS. I have Joplin using an E2EE folder and it works fine on iOS. This appears to be a known issue for iOS users and there just doesn’t seem to be support for this at the moment. I’d love to see E2EE support in the future! ### 4/5 — Thankful but… *2026-07-06* This thing doesn’t get treated like the first class storage provider it should be. The iPhone file management workflows are trash garbage (Apple’s fault) and I can never easily send files into this storage provider. It’s always a hassle to move anything in (out is easy). Whenever I “share” to the app there’s a good chance, depending on file type, that it will fail (esp. JSON which it tries to open in some assistant thing?)…maybe I’m using this wrong but it’s very painful to even browse the files via native Files app and I can’t directly save anything into the Nextcloud storage provider. It just does not work. I hope they’ll fix in the future. The lack of markdown and text integration is a show stopper for me. Every time it try to load a text file on my iPhone, I get “not found “ error. Nextcloud notes app has the same problem. I’ve been looking for a solution for weeks. I may have to give up on my self-hosted Nextcloud server for this reason. ### 4/5 — Devastating data loss!!! *2026-03-15* I just lost 20 years worth of photos from my Nextcloud instance. I noticed my photos were no longer syncing, an iOS update somehow changed the photo access to only when using, which never synced the photos. After changing access to photos to “always” the iOS app deleted my Photos folder from the server. This should never be allowed to happen!!! The phone app should not do this, and the server definitely should not allow it!!! Par contre, certaine fonctionnalités sont manquante tel que: - les nouvelles photos ne se transferts pas automatiquement en arrière plan. - les photos panoramiques ne s’affichent pas et il est impossible les visionner - aucun aperçu des photos en mode sélection multiple. - La section détail n’indique pas dans quel dossier ce trouve le fichier. - difficile de faire disparaître le timeline lors de la lecture des vidéos. - le curseur du timeline s’arrête au milieu de celle-ci même si la vidéo continue ma lecture. ### 2/5 — Accessibility Issues *2026-01-31, version 7.2.2* The app handles accessibility settings (font sizes) poorly. Many fonts are left too small to read (the system setting being ignored), while others overlap other text, making it difficult or impossible to read. The menu button on some screens is completely inoperative. Letting people use choose browser could fix idp since their doesn’t pop anything during auth (no prompts or anything) Also photos on media tab doesn’t show anything located in folders. Login, Allerdings gibt es auch Probleme bei den Profilen wenn ich z.b. auf eine anderes wechseln möchte geht dass nicht, außerdem kann man Profile nicht löschen ich weiß noch nicht ob dass alles mit nicht zertifizierten https zusammenhängt aber bitte fixt dass, bemerkenswert ist es dass andere Apps mit nicht komplett zertifizierten https Zertifikat nicht funktionieren. The UI is extremely laggy. Apparently there is no async loading implemented, so the whole UI just freezes every time data is loaded. Nothing is cashed. Each folder or the photo view always displays „you have no files/photos“ for several seconds before the files list is loaded. Browsing photos is absolutely tedious, as nothing is cashed and it takes several seconds to load the thumbnails. There is no search for photos. No search or group by date, no map view for location based photo search, no keyword search, no OCR text search. Just one list of photos. With 35‘000 photos this app is completely unusable. Upload is also very buggy. Often some files just don’t get uploaded without any information why. There is no status info or log file. The app does not sync the photos that are already uploaded and duplicates files. What are the developers thinking? I only have one user myself and it’s not on the internet. That being said, my phone syncs my photos to my nextcloud instance whenever I come home, also my calendars and contacts. Are there bugs… yes at times there are and the nextcloud developers do an excellent job of maintaining this (remember free) software. It works so well it’s unreal. The app itself works as well as the OneDrive app I also use since my wife took a family subscription for it. I’ve got it installed on my android phone to backup photo but with the office apps installed on the server you can also seamlessly visualise and edit documents. Awesome. The photo gallery works well and looks good. Keine fremden Server, kein undurchsichtiges Datensammeln, keine monatlichen Abogebühren für Speicherplatz, den ich ohnehin nicht vollständig kontrolliere. Meine Fotos, Dokumente und Kontakte liegen auf meiner eigenen Hardware – und trotzdem habe ich vom iPhone aus überall Zugriff. Die iOS-App integriert sich dabei überraschend reibungslos: Automatischer Foto-Upload, Offline-Zugriff auf Dateien und eine saubere Oberfläche, die sich nicht nach Kompromiss anfühlt. Man merkt, dass hier eine aktive Community dahintersteht. Wer Wert auf digitale Selbstbestimmung legt, sollte Nextcloud unbedingt ausprobieren. Der folgende Fehler ist behoben worden: Doch diese App zeigt Dateien docx und xlsx nicht sauber an, auch im Bearbeitungsmodus, was mit Colabora möglich sein sollte. Das sieht wie folgt aus: man sieht die Seite des Dokuments, doch der Text wird nicht vollständig angezeigt, dazwischen sind immer wieder viereckige weiße Flächen. Auch: Verkleinert oder vergrößert man, egal wie lang man wartet, diese Flächen werden nicht nachgeladen. Das verhindert ein Arbeiten in der App, und ich bin wieder darauf angewiesen über eine Word- oder Excel-App zu gehen. PDF Dateien werden ganz normal angezeigt, daher auch zwei Sterne. ### 5/5 — Belle découverte *2025-12-18* J’ai découvert Nextcloud récemment, suite à une décision stratégique de l’entreprise dans laquelle je travaille : rapatrier l’ensemble de nos données en France, par souci de précaution, de souveraineté et de maîtrise de l’information. Nous ne sommes absolument pas déçus. Toutes les fonctionnalités dont nous avions besoin sont présentes pour disposer d’un cloud privé, souverain et parfaitement maîtrisé, avec un contrôle total sur nos données. La solution est à la fois complète, fiable et simple à utiliser, ce qui facilite grandement son adoption au quotidien par les équipes. Ce qui me surprend le plus, c’est que Nextcloud ne soit pas davantage mis en avant et plus largement utilisé par les entreprises européennes, tant la solution répond parfaitement aux enjeux actuels de sécurité, conformité et indépendance numérique, tout en restant accessible et intuitive. Pour notre part, c’est clairement une excellente découverte. En espérant que Nextcloud continuera à évoluer dans cette très bonne direction, en renforçant encore ses fonctionnalités et son niveau de sécurité.
