But, because of the monopoly McDonald’s event, I got a free 1 month subscription to this and I tested it out. There’s quite a lot on offer, for what you’re getting. I probably won’t be using it constantly, maybe just once in a while. But it’s sort of worth it ### 4/5 — RESOLVED and access restored *2020-08-13, version 5.2* EDIT The specific problem that I complained about in this review, of the free trial ending days early, was actually not resolved before I the week ended and I was charged for a full year’s subscription. HOWEVER after a complaint on TrustPilot I got a response and I’ve been granted access to the subscription I paid for. I’m still not happy but I have a comedy show playing on my laptop so my mood will improve. ****** I’m in the middle of the free trial week. Updated my password. The app and the desktop both say I’m logged in yet I’m now locked out of all content. Support said they would try to have it sorted in a few days, which will be too late. Not a good way to convince someone to buy a year’s subscription. ### 5/5 — Comedy Gold *2017-06-22, version 3.5* Great app for a fantastic service... the only good way to get a huge selection of Uk comedians on your devices, perfect! ### 5/5 — Excellent catalog *2017-05-10, version 3.5* I was tired of watching short clips online, and I don't live in the UK: NextUp gave me a great way to enjoy lots of British stand up with a variety of full shows from original comedians. ### 5/5 — Lots of good stuff. *2017-04-11, version 3.4* The app works very well on iPhone and via airplay to an AppleTV. The interface could be better (a minor gripe). What is most impressive is the range of comedians - many are relative newcomers but worth a watch. The subscription means that if an act is not to your taste you can move onto another. My hit rate is about 2:1 good v bad. Going forward it will need to add more shows and I hope comedians are getting on board with the idea. The fact that shows are filmed as live in a small club (in most cases) means it's 'warts and all' but lovers of proper stand up will know this is very much part of the fun. ### 5/5 — Comedy one stop shop *2017-03-16, version 3.3* I'm really enjoying NextUp. This app, and indeed service have proven brilliant. I love that you can download to watch offline, saving data, and that I now get to explore some acts I heard of but never saw live, as well as loads of up and comers. My experience with the comedy I enjoy falls under these umbrellas, as I find male comedians to be very similar and boring. It’s epic! Pretty much a new live show every other night, catching all the shows from various festivals, even the fact you can see the finalists of all the new act competitions live on the night is just incredible. Every goon goes on about “out out”, but everyone knows you are quoting someone else. But use the thousands of jokes, stories and one liners from NextUp and the whole pub will think you’re a comedy god and you get to take all the glory.
