## What is Nexus Contacts?

Meet someone new — snap a selfie together, jot why you met, and Nexus Contacts remembers the context.

Nexus Contacts is a capture app for the people you meet: conferences, the person next to you at a wedding. Take a photo, write a quick note, optionally set a follow-up — all in the time it takes to say goodbye.

HOW IT WORKS
• Meet someone → take a selfie together
• Write a one-line note while it's fresh: who they are, what you talked about
• Optionally set a follow-up reminder, with snooze if today isn't the day
• Everyone you've met lives in one grid — search, filter, revisit

YOUR DATA STAYS YOURS
Nexus Contacts has no servers. Every person you capture lives on your device first. iCloud sync is off by default on new installs — turn it on if you want your library on more than one device. A sync-health screen tells you honestly whether it's working, not just whether it's turned on.

Your backup file explains itself: open it in a text editor years from now, with no app installed, and the file tells you what it is and how to read it back out. That's what "your data" is supposed to mean.

PRICING
Free for the first 100 people you capture — every feature included, no trial, no subscription. If your network outgrows that, one purchase raises the limit: $19.99 for room for 1,000 people, or $49.99 for no limit at all. Buy once, keep it.

Your phone's address book never counts toward the limit — only the people you capture with Nexus. And whatever you've captured stays fully yours at any count: view, edit, export, and sync always work. The limit only pauses adding new people.

PRIVACY, PLAINLY
• No account, no signup, no login
• No analytics, no tracking, no ad SDKs
• No third-party servers — sync uses your own iCloud account, and it's optional
• Camera, Photos, Contacts, Location, and Calendar access are all used only for what you'd expect and only when you ask for it — see the in-app permission prompts for exactly why each one is requested

### 1.2.2 — 2026-09-09

Ask them how they say their name

Names are easy to get wrong and awkward to ask about a second time. You can now record someone saying their own name, and play it back before you next see them.

The recording screen is split in half and turned around, so the person you just met reads their side the right way up while you read yours. Both halves have the same three controls: record, play, delete. The app asks you once, before the first recording, to ask them first — it stores nothing about that conversation, because it cannot witness one.

Get in the frame together

At an event, we watched people open the app to save someone they had just met — and photograph themselves. The camera opened facing them, with a lot on screen, and the obvious thing to do was the wrong one.

The camera now says what the photo is for before it opens: this is how you will remember the person you just met, so get in the frame together. If you would rather skip it, there is a switch in Settings.

Fewer questions before you have done anything

Opening the app used to mean up to three separate requests for access to your contacts, before you had tapped a single thing. Those are gone. It now asks once, at the moment you do something that needs it, and if you say no it does not ask again.

Add the event afterwards

Saved someone and forgot to attach the event? You can do it from their card now. It is one-way — once they are assigned, that is where they stay — and the app says so before you confirm.

Notes open ready to talk

A note is written right after an interaction, when nobody wants to hunt for a control. The keyboard is now up as soon as the composer opens, so the dictation mic is one tap away instead of three.

Sending goes through Messages

WhatsApp is no longer one of the ways to send your contact. In our testing it could not carry both the photo and your details to someone who was not already in your address book — which is exactly the person you have just met. Messages carries both, so that is the path now.

Clearing all data

"Clear All Data" left behind internal backup copies that are now properly removed.

### 1.2.1 — 2026-08-28

1.2.1 is a batch of fixes rolled up from three TestFlight builds — including a real camera bug on iPhone 17.

• Fixed: on iPhone 17, the camera preview and captured selfie were rotated sideways regardless of how you held the phone.
• Fixed: messages sent via WhatsApp could open the wrong app.
• Tapping a person's message bubble now reopens the exact conversation you originally sent to — same app, same group thread.
• Re-taking a selfie for someone you've already captured now keeps both photos instead of overwriting the old one.
• Fixed: the camera could hang indefinitely instead of showing an error if it failed to start.
• Fixed: the capacity banner overlapping the navigation title.
• Fixed: the recipient picker being unreachable at large text sizes.
• Fixed: handshake share links occasionally showing "Someone" instead of the person's name.

### 1.2.0 — 2026-08-22

Capacity pricing arrives in 1.2.0, and the app is faster with a large library.

• Free for the first 100 people you capture. Every feature included — no trial, no subscription, nothing held back.
• Need more room? One purchase, once: $19.99 for up to 1,000 people, or $49.99 for no limit. Already bought the 1,000? Upgrading to unlimited costs
  only the difference.
• Only people you capture with Nexus count. Your phone's address book never does, no matter how large it is.
• Over the limit? Nothing is locked or removed. Viewing, editing, exporting and syncing always work — the limit only pauses adding new people.
• Fixed: with Contacts access turned off, saving a new person could silently discard everything you'd typed, including the note. Your capture is now written first and always kept.
• Much faster with thousands of people: photos in the grid and archive now load on demand instead of all at once.
• Referrals you recorded about people you hadn't captured are now reachable in Settings, instead of being invisible.
• iPad: the current-event banner works there now, so you can start and end an event without reaching for your phone.
