Our whole purpose of getting the app was to be able to confirm if the garage door was closed when someone left the house. Used to be happy but now support will not even assist on an issue. The Nexx Plugs will not update to the latest firmware. In their current state, they will not follow the schedule regularly. Random scheduled events are skipped. I have tried all the known resolutions yet firmware updates failed every time. I do not recommend this product any further. Stay away. Return any items asap before this company fails completely like their firmware updates. ### 1/5 — Used to work… *2023-10-09, version 3.8.2.3* I’ve owned the WiFi garage door opener for years and it always worked well. Not anymore. The device keeps loosing it’s connection to the WiFi, it keeps just telling me to restart the device, event logs are no longer working or accurate. For reference, I have a smart home that I set up all by myself. so I have a pretty good idea how to get it working. This does not work. I’m going to try something else like meross. I’m hoping to get at least some money back. ### 1/5 — Worse app known to man *2023-07-27, version 3.8.2.3* This is the worse app I have ever used. Just look at when the last update on this app was done and that will tell you everything about it. So many bugs, half the time it won’t even open ur garage the other half it says it’s open but it’s not. Sometimes you got to sit outside for 20 mins trying to open it in the app. Return ur product. You have been warned ### 1/5 — NO TECH SUPPORT *2023-07-26, version 3.8.2.3* Do not buy. I don’t know what happened here. In the beginning everything was great. No longer works with Alexa. Scammed out of two overhead door systems, would leave no stars if I could. ### 1/5 — Don’t bother *2023-07-26, version 3.8.2.3* Since they removed the ability to use the garage door via voice assistant I had to rely on using the app. Now the iOS app is nonfunctional since it says I’m not connected to the internet. I am connected to the internet and all other apps work fine. The equipment can no longer be controlled. Save yourself time and money and buy different equipment. ### 1/5 — Worked for a while then stopped *2023-07-11, version 3.8.2.3* I bought NEXX back when they were only selling the NXG-100. Put that on my first garage door and it worked great with the app and Alexa. When NXG-200 came out, I put that on my second garage door. That worked for a while but soon, the sensor wouldn’t tell the app or Alexa that the door was opened or closed so I bought the magnetic sensor and it worked again. I decided to buy a 100 for my workshop door and it also worked well. I had a WiFi repeater out in the garage and a wireless router in the workshop so signal was always excellent. Then all of a sudden, the sensors would tell the app the position of the doors, but Alexa would perform the requested operation but tell me that NEXX wasn’t responding. I wrote support and they told me to delete and reinstall the app. That worked for about a week and then went back to the same condition (I also unlinked and linked the skill in Alexa). After a while, I just decided that if the app and Alexa were doing what I asked, I’d ignore the rest. Well, 2weeks ago, I was having problems with the doors not operating periodically when I asked, so after a number of attempts to uninstall, unlink, reinstall, relink (we’ll call that UURR) nothing was working, so I decided to upgrade the wireless extender in the garage and upgrade the router in the workshop. I did and then went through the change in WiFi and UURR, but now, only the app worked and everytime I tried to link Alexa, it told me that there was a problem linking. I tried contacting support and created a ticket but after a couple days of waiting, there was no answer back. Geofencing stopped working early on in the early days, so, like my long, expensive relationship with Wink, and after reading the reviews, I decided that this was another automation company that had their day and now they’ve decided to move on from me, so I bought a Meross opener and all of the features that endeared me to NEXX were immediately evident. I think that unfortunately, it’s an early adopter penalty as other companies see what you are doing, watch the forums and tweak their much less expensive products and eventually drive the more expensive brands out. I’m going to replace the workshop opener this week during Prime Day. I hope this review helps other people avoid some headaches. ### 1/5 — 0 Star for sure!! *2023-07-02, version 3.8.2.3* Ever since Nexx decided to remotely make changes to the garage application it’s been screwed! Nexx app was working fine and now it barely works at all. I had to just remove a device from the app because it stopped working and now it can’t seem to register the status of it and some update removed some of the features that still exists on other devices like scheduling etc. This product and tech is going backwards. Some products are buggy to start and get better. Nexx seems to be doing the opposite. Don’t recommend. I would stop using if I didn’t already have 4 decides invested. ### 1/5 — Barely works *2023-04-13, version 3.8.2.3* I’ve tried with this app and product for a few years now. None of the fixes work consistently and the open/close door used to work on occasion but now never works. Too many bugs ### 1/5 — Slowly Perishing *2025-08-31, version 3.8.2.3* Long term customer with three Smart Garage NCG-100 devices. Worked great for years. Nexx had security issue in 2023 and never seemed to recover. Website is up but help portal page does not exist. Device now not reliably working. Device shows online and registers the status of the door correctly, but it almost always fails to open/close the garage door. App constantly churns, gives cloud excuse issues and is unreliable. Wi-Fi for remote drive gate would be great to have but the NEXX app fails to provide any value. I have to update this app once a week (and I mean, delete, redownload, re-set-up my account, open the control box, unplug the Nexx WiFi box from the motherboard,if it back in. And give only had it two years. If you’re buying a US Automatic System that utilizes Nexx for iPhone control feature, get a different system entirely. ### 1/5 — Worse device ever! *2024-11-27, version 3.8.2.3* We got this device years ago, I think they either change apps or went out of business because apparently my garage was open for almost 2 years (according to the app). Fast forward to today, I accidentally unplugged the device and not it is impossible to get it connected again. I have sent several emails to get help with this, but they probably have been sent to spam because i haven’t heard back from anyone yet. ### 1/5 — Awful *2024-08-16, version 3.8.2.3* The company refuses to respond to my multiple requests for help. The product is garbage as is the company apparently. It is not intuitive and dos not, as it claims to work with Alexa or Siri. You can follow the directions for the link setup all day, and it does not work. Otherwise, so far it opens and closes as it’s supposed to sometimes. The history does not work either. I wanted it for a record of my gate being open and closed. It is completely inaccurate. It sends me messages all day that my gate is open when it is NOT open ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Works well on my 2 gate swing gate *2024-09-28, version 3.8.2.3* I have a 2 gate swing gate that with an accessory module plugged into my USAutomatic Patriot 2 system motherboard. Initial setup requires WiFi. After app is set up it works reliably over iPhone or iPad Verizon LTE internet signal. My home Wi-Fi is satellite HughesNet with their signal amplifier. It reaches from inside home to 700 ft to gate motherboard unobstructed. About once a month the app goes offline. Sometimes it resets itself. Sometimes I gotta go to the gate, unplug replug the module to reboot and it’s online again. I’ve used the app to open for deliveries from home and 100’s of miles away. It’s the only system like this I’ve found for my gate without spending thousands of $. It’s not perfect but pretty darn close. Have used for just about a year. ### 5/5 — Really like it. One thing I wish is that it had a switch in the app to turn on Siri. *2021-04-09, version 3.6.1.2* Please put a fix in the app to turn on Siri. It doesn’t work like it says. ### 5/5 — New update is awesome! *2021-01-19* I had not yet given Nexx any feedback after installing a bit over a month ago and in this time Nexx released a new update that fixed most of the minor annoyances I might have mentioned before. Since the new update you can set up the app to have a simple tap activate the garage as well as the beta feature for automatically opening the garage when you return works nearly every time! It means a lot to us. ### 5/5 — Last update works great *2021-01-16* I am a fan of the Nexx garage been owning for over 4 years but I have always had a problem with the auto open feature, it’s usually a hit or miss sometimes it works sometimes it doesn’t no consistency ! So after reading about many of they garage door devises I settled on this one for a few reasons. No monthly fee. The ease of set up (if your a little handy). And fore most. The ability to see your garage doors actual status of open or closed. A lot of these devices rely on you using only the app or your phone to open and close the door. But that isn’t a full proof device in my mind because what will happen if you open the door with your phone then close it with the button on the wall your app will still think your garage door is open because you didn’t close it with the app. This wonderful device actually has a proper door contact which monitors the state of the door regardless if you use the app or the button on the wall. And the app will give you the actual correct position your doors in either open or closed. I have been using this product for roughly a year now and besides having to reset it may be a handful of times to get it to reconnect to Wi-Fi it has worked absolutely great I totally recommend it. ### 4/5 — Works great - needs CarPlay support *2022-11-27, version 3.8.2.3* I’m surprised to see all the negative reviews. I’ve had two of the NXG-200 controllers on my industrial garage door openers for the past year. Setup was really simple and they always work. The only thing really missing is Apple CarPlay support so I can open and close the doors without fishing my phone out. ### 4/5 — Auto open *2021-01-20* Have noticed the last few days that Auto open is working more consistently. Had a lot of problems previously & contacted support many times ( they’ve been great). Glad to see the improvements! Now I need to get my alarm controller up and running. Had to contact support for that on Sunday bc wouldn’t connect to my WiFi. They responded with additional instructions but haven’t had a chance to try them yet. I have never had a problem till now the app asked me to log in, which I did, now it doesn’t open. The app flashes and then nothing. If you guys put more TIME ZONES in your app that would be great. We live in Adelaide but there’s no Adelaide time zone in the app settings.
