Price gouging(Updatedv05.17.2025)

(Scroll to very bottom for my updated review. This dev team took real response to my complaints and the apps original problems.)

The prices charged to mint NFTs in this app are marked up, majorly. Minting a polygon NFT costs less than $0.01. But it costs $0.99 in Minty. Creating a collection is $2.99 in app, this has no cost at all normally. Every single in-app action requires a payment, the price of which is MUCH MUCH higher than it actually is, outside of the app.

[UPDATE AFTER DEVELOPER RESPONSE]: I will reconsider the app once Celo is available. Supporting Celo would make the app unique. I understand the other costs that come with an application like this, however, the markup on Polygon is nearly 1000%. It’s ridiculous. No amount of overhead could justify such a staggering overcharge.

That said, I’d be more likely to accept a small subscription fee that covers chains like Celo and Polygon, or even in-app tokens.

Currently Polygon, Celo, Base, Optimism, ZERO, WAX, EOS, Lens, Degen, all offer minting and gas, with roughly the same quality tools for under $0.05 for the Creator. Also, consider taking from the buyer to help cover the fees of your team, because that is where you could actually make enough to support such a team. If your entire strategy to cover costs is placed on the artists, well, you’ll bankrupt yourself. It’s not a good time to be using such a high market on every nft a creator designs. Most of us make well under $100 USD most weeks, if anything at all.

I’ve literally used every creation tool available from all of the most successful NFT sites. And they are all absolutely awful. If you manage to actually simplify, without cutting options, and provide a good UI/UX, that would drastically improve my opinion and rating. The companies that offer services like this are currently, and have always been rather ugly and cumbersome. Since I created my first mint 4 years ago, to the one I listed yesterday, there has been absolutely no measurable improvement in these areas, by any app on any chain.

If your app could actually provide the things you say, it wouldn’t just change my opinion. It would become an industry sensation in a matter of days. I hope you will let me know when these updates have been made, because I’ll be with you all the way, if you can do this.

——-
May 2025, I really appreciate the trouble the devs have got through to make this app functional, even while they are still working on an improving product. Minty today is a completely different application than it was when I first reviewed it.

Minty is now one of a kind in the iOS store. It stands far above its peers in its features. Having a choice to mint on so many chains is wonderful. It lets you finish your audience much easier. The no-fuss minting process makes it faster than any other NFT app.

The prices are still a bit high, however, the subscription options are very affordable. And worth much more than their price tag. The yearly price is enough for the power user to truly make released several times a day.

Thanks to the dev team, who took my every note and worked towards the ideas that I had listed as fair. Keep your eyes on this group of developers, they’re going to go far together, or be sniped by companies like Google, Apple, and other heavy hitting teams.

Thank you very much for your detailed and thoughtful review. We appreciate you taking the time to provide such comprehensive feedback; it is very helpful as we continue to develop Minty. We are pleased to inform you that we've recently launched Minty 2.0, and we have worked to address many of the specific points you raised. Regarding the Polygon minting costs, we have taken your comments into consideration. Our new Minty Creator membership now includes free minting on the Polygon network. We believe this offers significantly improved value and directly addresses your concerns about previous markups. We also acknowledge your strong interest in Celo. Bringing Celo support back remains a priority, though we are currently working through some technical complexities. In the interim, and to provide a low-cost creation alternative, we have introduced Avalanche as a free option for minting NFTs within the application. We continue to evaluate other accessible blockchain options. In response to your feedback on user experience, Minty 2.0 features an integrated marketplace directly within the app. This is designed to simplify the process for creators to list and sell their NFTs without needing to navigate external platforms. We are committed to continuously enhancing our UI/UX to provide an intuitive and powerful tool. Your broader suggestions concerning pricing models and the financial considerations for artists are important to us and are being actively reviewed as we refine our overall strategy. Our objective is to build a platform that effectively supports creators. We would greatly value the opportunity to discuss Minty 2.0 and your insights further. Your perspective is very important to us. We invite you to contact us directly at contact@mintynft.app to continue this conversation. We hope you will explore the new version and see the improvements we are implementing.

Response from developer

Hi, Thanks for the feedback on pricing. You're right, direct Polygon gas fees are quite minimal. But our fees cover more: the convenience of easy in-app use (no complex wallets or direct gas handling), our platform costs (like servers and app development), plus required App Store commissions and applicable taxes (like VAT). We aim to simplify NFT creation this way. We normally offer a free minting option via the Celo blockchain, but we are facing a temporary technical issue and are actively working on it to bring it back ASAP. We appreciate your input and will consider it as we review our pricing balance. We are constantly working on improving the app and are committed to delivering the best experience possible. Thanks for using Minty!
