### 4/5 — Articles don’t work

*2026-08-24, version 3.5.0*

All good except I can’t seem to access all the useful information and articles.

### 3/5 — Variations

*2026-08-08, version 3.5.0*

Entered the data for today on this app and on myfitnesspal. Ended up with 500 on this app and 1000 on the other. That’s a difference not easily reconciled. Please make the ‘number of items’ scroll wheel work. Please ratify your data. Why is a 2 egg Spanish omelette half the calories of a plain omelette. Could do better.

### 5/5 — Great way to track

*2026-07-30, version 3.5.0*

I’ve been using this free app for over a year to help track my meals and activity. I’ve found it very useful to monitor my calorie deficit.

One suggestion - is it possible to add a notes section to jot down any thoughts or life events?

### 5/5 — Simple. Helpful. Accessible

*2026-07-25, version 3.5.0*

Easy to install understand and use. Might have wider range of foods on database, preferably with Trade names. Overall helpful

### 3/5 — Ok, but could be a lot better

*2026-07-23, version 3.5.0*

Not sure of the 5 star reviews here. Yes it’s a good app for logging basic things like fruit, veg, eggs, etc, but the ability to log every day things from supermarkets or brands is impossible. They’re just not there. MyFitnessPal is a lot better in that respect as you can log the exact food you’re eating and break it down in to portion sizes, so if something is 200g and you only had half, you can log it at 0.5 of a portion, on this app you can’t, it’s the whole 200g or nothing. So it doesn’t give a true representation of your calories. I tried it for a day, logged breakfast, but then everything else I ate for the rest of the day wasn’t able to be logged as it wasn’t listed.
I had high hopes with this being a British app (MFP is more American based, but is getting a lot better with British foods being added) I thought this would be far superior and have more British foods listed, sadly it doesn’t.
I imagine it will improve with time and updates, but for now I’ll stick with MFP.

### 5/5 — Easy to use and very informative

*2026-07-22, version 3.5.0*

Have used the app on and off for a couple of years now and it really does help with weight loss. Can see the result of counting the calories in the first week. I am using it once again and losing the weight slowly. Have tried some of the healthy recipes and all have been good. If you want to lose weight and still eat healthily then the NHS Weight Loss Plan is the one to go for.

### 5/5 — Really helps

*2026-07-15, version 3.5.0*

Thank you NHS for this app - I feel it is really helping me to lose my excess weight. Am using it along with the active 10 app where you log your brisk walking.

### 5/5 — Aided my 6 stone loss

*2026-07-14, version 3.5.0*

This app has been amazing, I have tried many ways and clubs to lose weight this app is I believe the best way to lose weight and learn about foods and calories to enable the right choices. It will assist me maintaining my losses as I carry on to lose a further 3 stone. It makes you understand foods that you believe are not high in calories you then find out it’s best to choose something else; aiding healthier options and better after you have reached your target. I will still use this when I have lost all the weight I want to lose. This app gives you control your foods your choice. Try it it’s the best I’ve ever used.

### 5/5 — Simple and supportive

*2026-07-14, version 3.5.0*

Simple, easy to use, and I can feel the thought and care that's gone into the design of the app. I find the app very supportive. This is the first weight loss app I have used and I'm very impressed!

### 5/5 — NHS Weightloss app is magic

*2026-07-09, version 3.5.0*

NHS weight loss plan is really simple to set up and the calorie counter is really useful most of the time and of the item is not there only then did I google the calories. I really like most it being on my phone. I can enter food eaten and drinks immediately, we are all glued to our phones, the daily note how much weight I have lost since day one, the cumulative daily calorie counter (so if I have a big lunch I know I need to cut back on supper or snacks) and the ability to go back and look up the same meal eaten in the past to get the calorie counter. Best of all, I can eat and drink anything, it’s the daily total calories that count. I’ve already lost 2kg and confident this app will really help me lose a further 12kg.

So a big thank you NHS for a brilliant weight losing tool.

### 4/5 — Good app

*2026-07-09, version 3.5.0*

I find this app very easy to use. The database is quite limited when searching, however it does allow you to easily save items to favourites by pressing the heart icon. Best of all is it’s free to download. Nearly all the others on App Store require a subscription.

### 5/5 — Really helped with menopause weight loss

*2026-07-07, version 3.5.0*

I used to be able to shed weight when I needed just by swapping items on the basis of what I’d done with slimming clubs in the past. This changed during menopause when weight gain increased and didn’t leave when it was asked. Counting calories has been the game changer and this app has been brilliant. The calorie search facility isn’t the best but I just go into my supermarket app which has calorie info for everything I’ve bought. I’ve lost 10ths in 3 weeks, the first week was a big loss which has now slowed to 1 or 2 a week which was what I wanted and I’ve reduced my calorie intake a little each week rather than start scarily low. I think it’s highly likely I will continue to use this app beyond reaching my goal weight just to keep on top of things.

### 4/5 — Good but not great

*2026-07-06, version 3.5.0*

The app does provide a decent way of tracking the basics but it lacks a number of important usability features which reduce it’s appeal a lot. It feels like an app developed on a budget - done well but limited. Specific issues - favourites are badly implemented (they should be global and come up as auto complete or search on entry - why do I have to add Banana separately in Breakfast and Lunch and Dinner and Snacks?); calorie search is terrible and finds many wrong or irrelevant entries from a very limited selection; many opportunities to do basic photo recognition (AI licensing may be an issue); when I say I’ve eaten a piece of fruit, had a salad, a portion of broccoli - add it to the five a day rather than make me find a separate entry location; my health app records my activity - option to access data; couch to 5K - interact there; etc.

### 5/5 — Genuine

*2026-07-03, version 3.5.0*

I’m impressed with this app, I find I’m quite conscious now of what I’m eating, it’s not a diet it’s a sensible eating encouragement

### 5/5 — Very Helpful

*2026-06-30, version 3.5.0*

Very helpful and an easy way to keep tabs on your calories and daily exercise.

### 5/5 — Helps me keep track and eat healthier

*2026-06-28, version 3.5.0*

I find this really useful to track what I’m eating and spread my calories throughout the day. I like the weekly summary.

### 5/5 — Really happy with this app!

*2026-06-25, version 3.5.0*

I have been using the app for 4 weeks and have been seeing results which is very encouraging! The user experience is pretty nice and the app performs really well. Glad you can save favourites, as it is a bit more hands-on for entering specific calorie amounts otherwise. If the calories aren’t available as a search result in-app or on packaging I have found using Gemini or the like is a very capable substitute (can even estimate from photos) :)

### 4/5 — Helpful

*2026-06-25, version 3.5.0*

Good - more sophisticated than anticipated. Good reminder of calorie intake etc

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Missing Food

*2026-08-04, version 3.5.0*

The app is excellent but is missing an enormous range of foods making it difficult to calorie count.

It does not have Apple Health integration.

### 1/5 — Poor selection of foods

*2026-07-17, version 3.5.0*

Gave up after trying to enter yoghurt for breakfast and it doesn’t exist in the calorie search…. Waste of time

### 1/5 — Calorie counter is appalling

*2026-06-09, version 3.5.0*

The calorie counter can’t recognise the most basic foods - oat milk, coconut yogurt - it is so basic which means that it isn’t much use in losing weight.

### 1/5 — Latest update has removed foods

*2026-06-06, version 3.5.0*

It seems the latest update means I can no longer look up foods like’banana’, ‘apple’ or ‘boiled egg’, and must now google them outside the app

### 1/5 — Search results have gone much worse

*2026-06-05, version 3.5.0*

Used to find things much easier on the previous version.
I type “Nect” to find Nectarine and it does not show up. I type Nectarine and still does not show up in search results. You have to type Nectarines to find them. Such a disappointment.
The same search result issue for many other entries. Fix search results.

### 1/5 — Worst tracker

*2026-06-01, version 3.5.0*

This tracker doesn’t recognise fresh foodstuff. Can’t change my weight loss. It’s rubbish & a complete waste of time

### 1/5 — Pcos/ pmos. This app is Dangerous ( allegedly )

*2026-05-24, version 3.4.0*

Why has the nhs made such a ridiculous weight loss app that only teaches people disordered eating instead of actual healthier habits (allegedly)? I have pcos, I was told to use this, I cannot. Counting calories and exercise does not help a hormonal disorder, in fact it makes it worse. Doctors know this but refuse tell women because of beauty standards and the feeling of having control over someone ( allegedly). If you want / need to lose weight, Avoid (Allegedly). Listen to your body and nurture it, weight loss can happen without restricting calories to a measly 1400 a day, that’s dangerous please don’t listen to that advice ( allegedly). Always advocate for yourself you know your body best, if somethings not right and doctors do nothing but give shoddy weight loss advice, complain, name, date, send, take it further. Working class people deserve proper health care. End of.

### 1/5 — changing to a new phone

*2026-05-09, version 3.4.0*

When changing to a new phone data is not transferred. Needs to be backed up in cloud.

### 1/5 — Ingredient list is very poor

*2026-04-22, version 3.4.0*

Te ingredient list lacks everyday items yet includes some quite obscure ingredients. Portions are also very limited and not easy to reduce or adjust. I’m spending more time googling calories and calculated things. Deleted.

### 1/5 — Terrible app

*2026-04-22, version 3.4.0*

Can not find a lot of separate items. Ie milk is only given as a pint. Looking up lots of items there are mixed foods including the item but nothing for the item it’s self. It would be good if entering an item that is not on the data base it could be saved on The database. Peanut butter only had it spread thickly or thinly on bread!!! What use is that if your using peanut butter in a different way. I drink krmefir, which is not on the data base but when I entered the calories it did not save it. It gives calories for example home made cauliflower cheese or chicken jalfreezi but the separate ingredients are not listed. And everyone makes these things differently. I think this app is aimed at Asian community as it seems to have a lot of Indian dishes in it.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Very happy

*2026-08-25, version 3.5.0*

I’m loving using this app it’s really helped me keep track of what I’m eating and stick to my calorie allowance each day I’m on the second week of using it I lost 5lbs the first week xxx I’m now on week 7 of my second 12 week plan and I’ve lost over two stone! Thanks so much! Xxx

### 5/5 — Great App. Could the App Tech Support Team please read the review because there is a note for them.

*2026-08-24, version 3.5.0*

This App is fantastic, I've tried loads of weight loss diets over the years, this is the only one that has re-educated me and actually worked.

I kept doing the 12 Week Plans until I got to the top end of my "normal" weight range. But I want to maintain the weight loss a little further. Then when I get to the middle of my range I will hold at the mid point of my "normal" weight.

To help me with this, I still need the "calorie target" set at below the maintaining target but because I'm now in the "normal" range (albeit at the top end) the App won't allow me to enter 1900 calories as my daily target, as was the case whilst I lost the weight. Instead it just states 2500 calories to maintain my weight.

PLEASE would the App Tech Support engineers allow the calorie target setting to be adjusted? This App really is fantastic and I intend to use it far into the future but really need this setting back.

My knee joints are now ok, getting up / down stairs is easy as is getting up / down from the floor whilst gardening and the like.

Life is do much easier without be over-weight so please do this tweak to the App.

Thank You

### 5/5 — Helpful App

*2026-08-24, version 3.5.0*

This is a brilliant app and is very easy to use to find and record calories. There are also links to recipe ideas and lots of useful information about how to maintain weight loss and have an enjoyable healthy lifestyle. It’s quick to use and it gives reminders but it’s not annoying.

### 5/5 — Great App

*2026-08-24, version 3.5.0*

A great app to check what you’re consuming, seeing where you you could save calories and it’s free to use.
WW costs so much monthly, this app compares in content but not in if not in social sharing.

### 5/5 — Good app

*2026-08-22, version 3.5.0*

Don’t usually use calories count but found this easy. Surprising how many calories there are in food and how they add up. Free app !!

### 5/5 — So easy to use

*2026-08-08, version 3.5.0*

This App is so informative and easy to use - I look forward to updating it every time I eat or drink something or am active - highly recommend it.

### 5/5 — Fabulous tool

*2026-08-07, version 3.5.0*

Needed some help after getting on the scales 😵 looked on the NHS site for advice and found many tools to help get rid of the extra blubber I’m carrying including this app. I found it easy to navigate and use. It’s made calorie counting really positive and I look forward to using the app with its extra pointers. Well done the NHS on making these tools free and easy to use.

### 5/5 — Motivation

*2026-08-03, version 3.5.0*

Really good and helps to keep track of calorie intake .. motivates me 👍

### 5/5 — Exceptional calorie counter

*2026-08-03, version 3.5.0*

Didn’t use the app for a while as my health didn’t warrant its use but now I can use it. It’s an absolute dream to use. So easy, so simple, so good to input all my caloric intake on a daily basis. My wife uses it too religiously. Hopefully it’ll help us remain on a calorie deficit for as long as we need to lose the weight and get healthy for the long term. I couldn’t recommend it more to all that want to watch what they eat and get healthy.

### 5/5 — NHS weight loss

*2026-07-31, version 3.5.0*

This is the only way I can lose weight. It helps me see how many calories I’m putting into my body. And how much exercise I do. I’m very aware now of highly calorific foods. I’ve lost a stone. Very happy. Just got to keep it up!
