## What is Nightlog?

Nightlog is a focused planning and logging companion for landscape astrophotographers. Plan a shoot, dial in your settings with built-in calculators, and keep a private record of every session!

Guides, everywhere you need them

Nightlog now explains itself. A short tour runs the first time you open the app, and every tab has an in-depth guide covering the parts that aren't obvious: why your gear goes in before the calculators are useful, what the ≈ beside an aperture means on a variable zoom, how one shoot can belong to more than one trip. Tap ? in any tab header, or open Profile → Guide & tour to read them again or replay the tour.

Fixed: dates outside the Americas

If your device is set to a timezone at or east of UTC, a shoot's date could appear a day early in a trip, and move a day earlier each time you opened and saved it. Dates now read the same on every screen. This update doesn't alter your saved dates but if one drifted before now, set it again and it will hold.

The tour, the guides and every empty screen stay readable at the largest accessibility text sizes.

### 1.2 — 2026-07-23

Plan & shoot timelapses. A new Timelapse calculator joins FOV, Star Trails, Exposure, and Tracker — enter any two of frames, interval, or shooting duration and it solves the third, plus the resulting clip length at your playback frame rate.

A much more useful map. Toggle between Dark, Satellite, and Hybrid layers to scout terrain and foreground; see your current location, compass, and scale; tap a saved location for details or fit every pin on screen at once.

Reliable location where it matters. Getting your current position now works far more dependably at remote, off-grid sites — and tells you when a fix is only approximate so you can fine-tune.

Smoother location picking. Drop a spot by panning the map under a fixed crosshair instead of trying to tap an exact point (tap still works as a shortcut).

Fixes & polish. Text fields in the edit forms no longer freeze, and the keyboard opens faster across forms and the calculators.
