## What is Nightlong?

Nightlong plays sleep sounds that do not stop.

No eight-hour cut-off. No buffering. No subscription.

Most sleep apps stream recordings, so they need a connection and they end after a fixed number of hours. Nightlong has no recordings. It generates its sound mathematically, live on your device, sample by sample. There is no file, so there is nothing to download and nothing to run out of. Press play and it keeps going until you press stop, through the whole night and past it.

TWELVE SOUNDS

Noise colours
- White. Flat and even, the strongest masker
- Pink. Balanced hiss, the usual first choice
- Brown. Deep and rumbling, soft on the ear
- Green. Mid-forward, like open air
- Blue. Bright, often used for tinnitus
- Violet. Brightest, covers high ringing
- Grey. Shaped to sound flat to the ear

Ambience
- Rain. Steady rainfall, no thunder
- Ocean. Slow rolling surf
- Fan. A box fan across the room
- Cabin. Aircraft cabin rumble
- Stream. Water running over stones

WORKS WITH NO SIGNAL
Nothing is streamed and nothing lives on a server. Aeroplane mode, a tent, a basement, a long flight: it makes no difference.

NEVER LOOPS
A looping recording always has a seam you eventually learn to hear. Nightlong never repeats, because there is nothing to repeat.

MATCHED LOUDNESS
Every sound is tuned to the same perceived loudness, so changing sound in the dark never startles you awake.

BUILT FOR THE WHOLE NIGHT
- Keeps playing when the screen locks
- Lock screen and Control Center controls
- Survives phone calls and headphones being unplugged
- A dim, dark interface made for a dark room
