### 1/5 — not even in beta

*2025-06-13*

typos, horrendous lag, can’t even view cards when you want to. and they expect me to buy booster packs and decks? the UI isn’t even on par with games 10 years ago.

### 5/5 — Fun and expansive

*2024-12-18*

A lot of room for maladaptive daydreaming. Good mechanics, not clunky

### 5/5 — Lots of potential for more in game.

*2024-11-17*

The game is great, it has fun cards and artwork for them, there are some fun features to the game, it focuses on a theme that you don’t see much, and also it has its own unique game mechanics to stand out from other ccgs (the sanity mechanic for example). I would say the main reason the game isn’t pulling in a ton of players right now is possibly because the game itself isn’t very flashy or visually appealing as some other mobile ccgs/tcgs, like MTG: Arena. Don’t get me wrong I like the design and such, but it still isn’t on the winning side with most of the players, so I mean if you wanted to improve the game, pull in more players, etc. I suggest adding maybe some minor animation for the cards, maybe some changes on the way some items or backgrounds look. Besides the idea of pulling in more things to pull in people, some things that I personally would like in the game are more packs, cards, more different factions (I don’t have anything wrong with the first three factions I just like lots of different stuff to do in a game.) idk maybe a story? Either way these are just possible suggestions for the game.

**Developer response:** Thank you so much for the kind words and for the feedback! We're actually working on pretty much everything you've mentioned. We know the animations need to be beefed up and some of the design elements need to be improved. We're a really small team (there's only two of us) but we're hard at work on consistently improving the game and adding more and more polish to it! We're also currently working on the next expansion so there should be more cards coming into the game soon (with new expansions coming every few months). We may be a small team but we're extremely dedicated to the future of Nightmares! Thank you again for trying the game out and taking the time to provide us feedback, we really appreciate it!

### 1/5 — Aweful

*2024-10-19*

Everything looks terrible. All decks have the same theme basically. The cards look like washed mtg cards. The background has debth which makes it hard to look at the cards on it. Want to play anything but a crazy person? Too bad insanity is the only power. It’s hard to control because nothing is explained and everything is too close together. It’s difficult to even view the cards and I still don’t know how you attack. This game is exceptionally bad

**Developer response:** I’m so sorry to hear you had such a bad experience with Nightmares. The level of polish of the game and the overall user experience are both things I’m continually trying to improve. I will take your feedback to heart and continue to try and improve in the areas you’ve outlined. I hope you’re able to find a card game that better suits your needs as a player.

### 3/5 — Second review

*2024-09-27*

Packs cost too much.
I haven’t pulled a single abyssal or deep or undead card, but I pull all the other colors from packs, like the game is intentionally not giving me cards for the decks I use.
The campaign is too difficult, basically making it unplayable for free to play.
The tutorial needs to be longer, because the clthulu starting and blue color decks are the weakest compared to literally every single other deck. A tutorial that lets you play using all the other decks would be nice so people can make a more informed decision before the screw themselves over.
A lot of the mechanics in the campaign don’t work.
The intimidate mechanic barely works, since whenever I face against it, I can’t defend against those monsters, but when I use them, everyone can defend against them, but for some reason it won’t let me but defenders against those monsters.
SO many issues. Please. PLEASE. Word on them, because this game has a lot of potential, and despite my 1 star emotional review, I do enjoy this game. It scratches the itch I have. But it’s SO frustrating. Its like you didn’t even test it for bugs or issues or balancing. Its WILD. Im gonna still play in hopes it gets better and yall are still updating and working on things. But man do these issues need to be addressed.

**Developer response:** I’m really sorry to hear that you’re not having a good experience with Nightmares! I’ll try to address each of your concerns in this response, but it’s also worth noting that we do have a bugs channel in our discord (link to the discord in the in-game settings menu). I try to have any issues reported in there fixed in the next release (typically within a week of being reported)
Balancing the campaigns is something I am continuing to work on, the later levels of each campaign are intended to be very difficult to give players something to continue to work towards as their collections and skill level increase, but the goal was to make sure the earlier levels were easy enough that most players will at least make their initial gem investment back plus some extra winnings.
Increasing the length of the tutorial is definitely in the plans, I am a solo dev working on Nightmares so major features can take some time but it is in the plans. The Cthulhu starting deck is actually the strongest of the starter deck options but it does have the highest learning curve.
The packs do have duplicate protection, so as your collection grows you are guaranteed to see the cards you don’t have yet. There is an even distribution of each of the 4 realms (colors) in each set so no colors should be more favored than others, but again duplicate protection will guarantee it rounds out over time.
Intimidate has been very thoroughly tested, creatures with less than 3 attack cannot block creatures that have intimidate. It works this way whether you are attacking with the intimidate creature, or you are being attacked by a creature with intimidate.
If there are any more bugs you would like to report please consider using the discord channel and I promise they will be addressed in the next build after they’re reported. I promise you I am still working on Nightmares day and night and it is my continued goal to make it the best experience possible

### 1/5 — unplayable

*2024-08-03*

great art and music. gameplay promising. but takes 50 tries to get summoning to work, same with spell. attack phase nothing worked.

**Developer response:** I'm really sorry to hear you had a bad experience!
During normal gameplay, dragging a card forward will allow you to play it (as long as you have enough mana for its cost).
During the tutorial, however, the game asks you to play specific cards (to teach the player how to interact with each of the different card types). I will look to add additional panels to redirect the player in case they do not read the initial instruction panel and attempt to play a different card. I can see how this could be confusing and lead to frustration.

### 5/5 — Recant

*2024-06-20*

I’m recanting my previous statement and giving this trading card game five stars. For several reasons, I am doing this. to start the developer was quick and their response to solve the issue and is also knowledgeable of their product. as a client of this service, I am impressed at the mechanics of the game though challenging. However, to have nightmare creatures is awesome and I’ll add that the similarity between magic also brings me closer to this game.

**Developer response:** Thank you for the kind words! Sorry again about the initial issues, but I’m really glad to hear you’re enjoying Nightmares!

### 1/5 — Inoperative

*2024-06-18*

Game freezes when I try to create an account. Also app support leads to a dead server… I would love to play but I’m already off ruby red road.

**Developer response:** I am so sorry to hear about your experience! We were having server issues yesterday that likely caused your inability to setup a new account, these have been resolved though and account creation should be working. I will correct the support information, I didn’t realize it was no longer pointing to the correct link

### 5/5 — Great New CCG in Development

*2024-04-30*

Really like the game! It has a neat feature in the Sanity system. The art is good- the factions play styles are familiar feeling with their own unique twist.

The game definitely feels like a development project right now. The UI is very basic, and the card pools don’t feel very big for each faction.

I am excited to see a little more polish applied to the title :)

### 5/5 — AMAZING!!!

*2024-04-21*

An absolutely stunning game! An incredible gem, this should be an editors pick easily!
If you like or have grown up playing Magic, or Vampire the masquerade or similar TCG’s you owe it to yourself to try this game. The artwork (and theme of) is what drew me in and, …WOW! Not only an amazing job visually but the music is just as stunning!
Gameplay is fantastic, simple enough to load and get a quick game in, with enough nuance and complexity for themes and combinations that I’m still discovering and that’s just with the base card set! This brings back memories like of the early years of tcg’s before tons of rules and errata and there was always something new and fun to discover each time. It’s hard to describe just how well thought out and fluid the game mechanics are even some established games don’t necessarily translate well onto the screen (looking at you Magic! lol)
Another reviewer had mentioned that if this were a physical set they would but it (100% agree!) I mention this bc it almost seems as if it was an established game that was ported over!
The passion the creator/devs have is shown in not just the constant improvements but are super responsive, they took the time to help me with a problem I had with my account and a bug I mentioned was fixed in the next update just a couple of days later!
I hope this game blows up and they find much success! I only wish I could tell more people to try this out You Will Not Be Disappointed!!

**Developer response:** I can barely put into words how much this review means to me! Thank you so much! We’re a very small team but we are so passionate about this game and trying to make it the best we can for everyone who tries it, reviews like this mean the absolute world to us
