### 5/5 — Lots of potential

*2018-06-21*

I’ve been studying Japanese by myself for about two years now. I’ve tried some books and apps, but it is very difficult to process the information on my own.

Then I found this app through Instagram. I actually bought their book as well on Amazon. They have a very interesting approach with lots of examples written in hiragana and katakana. I just basically have to know all of them to maximize the benefit of this platform. It sort of sounds daunting. It actually did for me, but this app is well-designed, and now I can recognize all the hiragana and katakana. The best of all now I can read their sentences on the book, and actually started chatting with people in Japanese! I’m very happy that I finally found something that works for me.

If you are looking for something good for self-learning Japanese to be able to get by in Japanese. This is it for you!

Thank you, team. I’ll start working on building up my vocabulary with your Instagram and dictionary. ありがとうございます

**Developer response:** こちらこそ、ありがとう！We’re so glad you’re finding the system useful - and we hope to keep supporting you with your studies.

### 5/5 — Lit app

*2018-06-20, version 1.1.2*

I downloaded this app a while back and I have to say, it’s absolutely changed my life. Every morning I wake an hour early and open Nihongo no hon before my いぞがしい day. Fabulous job. Well done

### 5/5 — Great app

*2018-06-20, version 1.1.2*

Really good app and a lot nicer to use than some language apps.

### 5/5 — The search is over!

*2018-06-16, version 1.1.2*

After trying countless apps on the App Store in my quest to learn Japanese, I can honestly say that I have found Nihongo No Hon to be the most useful in helping me learn Hiragana and Katakana. With advance features that you won’t find on other apps, you can configure the quizzes to perfect your skills. I could not recommend this app any higher, give it ago and I’ll see you on the leaderboard!

### 3/5 — Only for beginners

*2022-11-11*

As an N3-N2 student, I was hoping to use this app to get daily Kanji practice, but that was a paid feature only. As it stands, this app can only teach you hiragana and katakana, so if you in the very beginning stages of learning how to read in Japanese, it might be for you. It also appeared like there was no way to test up to your skill level, so this may be a good feature to add in the future. I gave 3 stars because although this is of absolutely no use to me as an advanced student, it may be good for a beginner.

### 4/5 — Great app but small issue

*2021-09-25*

Honestly a great app for self learning japanese. However, there’s an issue is that the cards’ size remains big after I rotate my device instead of getting smaller to their initial size. Beside that, this app is great!

### 4/5 — Great way to learn kana

*2019-06-07, version 1.3.4*

I really enjoyed this app. It allows you to learn, practice and test yourself in hiragana and katakana. The app also includes a lot of vocabulary and is a great resource paired with their Nihongo No Kai Aka book on Amazon to learn Japanese. I like how each kana has a colour responding to how many times you’ve practiced it, however I wish this was separate for the hiragana and katakana. I recommend this app for anyone wanting to learn Japanese kana.

### 5/5 — Definitely hidden gem

*2022-07-22, version 2.3.2*

This app is in short amazing it has everything other apps have all in one nice easy to navigate app quiz’s , audio tests, kana , kanji and a dictionary with a lot more. Normally as I don’t do reviews idk what to say other then it’s amazing and worth it for beginners all the way to people near fluency to brush up on skills

### 5/5 — Organized and Clean

*2021-12-01*

It’s very organized and simple, I’ve only started it but I think it’s really good for getting better at recognizing hiragana and such.

### 5/5 — Fun!

Really enjoying the update so much! There’s loads of things to learn. I know Hiragana and Katakana so I’m on to learning the words and some of the kanji (so many!). KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!

### 5/5 — Reliable app for serious learners

Very user friendly, easy to navigate between screens with clean explanation. Provides many quizzes and even you can create your own advance tests. It'll be perfect to have Kanji practice and learning in the near future. Highly recommended.

### 5/5 — Handy

*2018-07-01, version 1.1.1*

A handy little app with bite-sized and configurable tests.

### 5/5 — Great resource

*2018-07-01, version 1.1.2*

Very useful for sure.

I've learned hiragana and katakana very quickly with this app. The team is very responsive to my feedback. They added a new feature to accommodate my needs and interests. Their book and app are linked together pretty well, and I'm leaning a lot from their book. There are areas for more improvements, but I'm pretty happy with what I have for now.

I'd recommend this app and their book absolutely for beginners, and even for intermediate learners.

### 5/5 — FANTASTIC APP

*2018-07-01, version 1.1.2*

After trying almost every single app , I’ve finally came across Nihongo No Hon , it is by far the best app for learning Japanese .
The design is great , and the app simple and straight forward to use .
The lessons and content are also very good, allowing you to make progress really quickly, and practice on the go!
