When I decided to cancel, I couldn’t find any option to cancel my subscription or delete my account—neither on the website nor in the app. There is simply no clear cancellation button. The whole system feels intentionally designed to make it difficult for users to cancel their subscriptions. I had to contact customer support just to stop the charges. I do not recommend this app. Be very careful before subscribing, as cancelling your subscription is unnecessarily complicated and frustrating. ### 1/5 — Not beginner friendly *2026-05-26* Entire app and website is in Japanese, I don’t know how to navigate anything. But the UI is a little buggy *2026-01-27, version 3.2* What I love best about Nihongo no Mori is the style of content. It feels like how Internet content used to be in the 2010’s. (Possibly because that’s when it was created?) In any case, the content feels real, well presented, sparingly edited because the presenter knows their stuff and got it right in one take. It feels trustworthy. I like the presenter’s personality and energy. I just started studying for N3, and for this level I’ve started studying in Japanese only. This content is brilliant for that. It works very well as “comprehensible input”, I can understand about 90% of what is said, and the rest is filled in by context. So you’re practicing your listening and reading skills, and both acquiring and learning the language at the same time - covering many bases all at once. I use the app on iOS on a 10” iPad, and the only complaint I have so far is that the UI is a little buggy. Specifically, if I watch a video in full screen to the end, and let the next one autoplay, the UI gets stuck in landscape mode with no way to get back to the main menu. I’m forced to quit the app and start again.
