## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Listen to the warnings

*2025-11-04*

If you’re this deep into researching, seems like all you need is a WiiM device per a room setup. Then it’ll be AirPlay/Apple Home detectable. Don’t waste money on Niles. Their app even sends to 404s - they have 0 commitment to maintaining it and having easy to use products that don’t constantly disconnect and require troubleshooting.

### 1/5 — Frustrating

*2021-01-07*

The app spends most of its time “searching” for the system. It finds it about 1 out of every 30 attempts. This makes it almost impossible to control which zones to turn on or off as well as change volume. If I didn’t have a sonos connect integrated with it the system would be useless.

### 1/5 — Tech savy and totally fed up

*2020-05-17*

From someone who has had TWO of tse systems and spent THOUSANDS of dollars on them. DO NOT BUY THIS UNRELIABLE, SUBSTANDARD system. You would think its as easy as opening the app, choosing a zone and playing music. That’s what its supposed to do. Just don't rely on it for any back yard pool parties. Odd are 60/40 you will be partying without music. Sometimes it works but it is mostly riddled with issues. you have been advised.

### 1/5 — No longer works with Spotify

*2019-10-01*

I bought the expensive Niles controller. When it was installed, it worked with Spotify. Now, I get an error message with Spotify and with Pandora. I expect better. Also, there is no ability to manage services or apps. Not very user friendly.

### 1/5 — Worst app.

*2019-08-03*

Never half works. I’m just done with it.

### 1/5 — User

*2017-03-28*

This app sometimes does not "find" my system to operate it. At the same time, I will be able to operate my system with my laptop. Called tech support twice. They are very nice and helpful, but could not help, suggesting that there might be some mysterious setting on my phone that only allows it to connect to my system...occasionally. I use my system every day and this is a pain.

### 1/5 — Terrible. Worst app I've ever used.

*2016-12-02*

Trying to get this to connect to the speakers in my house is such hard work. It takes about 5-10 attempts by which time I've finished needing it. It brings up a different system (an American version??) then if I'm lucky eventually it will find the right version and I might connect. So disappointing as I have no other way of connecting to the speakers.

### 1/5 — Lacking everything

*2016-10-22*

It would be so easy to make this app better. Please invest just a little time. Also, you need to integrate with Amazon Music!!

### 3/5 — Niles owner for 6 years

*2020-06-19*

We’ve had two Niles systems. It works ok. The major downsides are lack of support for Amazon Music/Apple Music/Spotify (or at least it didn’t since the last time I updated firmware). But you can connect an iPhone or Android device and stream those services from your phone to Niles. Pandora still works directly from Niles but you need to pay for the premium version. The newer system (Auriel) is a step up from the previous as you can control volume, stations, zones directly from your phone. It’s not an inexpensive system and probably should offer more at this price point, but solid for its limitations.

### 4/5 — Nice Interface

*2014-09-11*

Works well.
