I just downloaded and haven’t played much, but I couldn’t wait to rate it. The setting, landscape, music, and story are all amazing, though I haven’t finished yet. I love the option of dungeonette and explorateur mode, and the fact that you can customize every thing about the world. I especially love the filters! It was more expensive than most games I downloaded but it was worth every cent and more, I’m surprised it was only 4 dollars. This game deserves to win awards and it’s honestly unbelievable that a single person did this. It’s better than most of the games I’ve played, made by a whole big group of people. Keep up the good work! This game is amazing! P.S.: I had to come back because i didn’t realize the sheer depth of this world, the preview doesn’t do it justice. I love the free roam!!! Incredible views. Wonderful hidden caves and caverns. How did you create so much range/space with so much detail? Wow! BrightRidge was my first game of yours I tried and loved it, but finished everything their was to do too quickly. Vandgels is even better with more space to explore, more shapes to shift into and just so much more of everything with the same beautiful design and great music tracks for different areas. I love all of your work so far and look forward to your next project. I will likely buy anything you release if you keep putting out games of this quality. It seems quite nice so far but visually and controls the other game wilderness looks and controls much better. I presume wilderness is the newer game so I would recommend picking that up over this one. ### 5/5 — Yet another great game from Robert *2022-07-03* I finally got round to play this game as I’ve played the others from this series, another beautiful game. No one has made games like this one on the App Store, exploration, mystery, some minimal combat ( I don’t like much combat) lovely soundtrack and of course a great story, my only complaint was it was tricky getting the angles right in one of the battles involving the bird to shoot correctly, some issues switching to the correct weapon for combat, but it’s nothing really compared to. I don’t write reviews, and I don’t play many games, but Vandgels is an oasis in a vast digital realm of repetitive and aggressive gameplay. It’s so imaginative, so detailed and so thoughtfully woven together, and its narrative is built around a gentle and inquiring ethic. Rare, original, absorbing. Any time you click on anything, it makes a loud and annoying beeping noise. THere are settings for the background music and SFX, but neither affects these beeps. I only want to disable these beeps, not the other sounds, so muting the device is also not an option. These annoying beeps make the game unplayable for me. **Developer response:** I am really sorry about this. I read your advice and I made sure that in my new game the six slider affects all the sounds and not just some. I hope I can update Vandgels too at some point and I made a note about this. Im sure it was annoying and sometimes I dont realize when something will be a bother like this is. That said thank you for at least trying my game, and im sorry about the poor experience. ### 1/5 — Constant crashing *2021-02-14, version 1.0* Me Try to play game work for few seconds. Then game go boom boom. I am groot. It does look nice in the screenshots and videos but unfortunately I’m robbed from enjoying it. ### 1/5 — Horrible controls *2020-06-24* I am at a loss on the great reviews for this game. Perhaps it does not work correctly with the newest ipads? I am using an ipad pro with 256gb of storage, over half of which is free and I had no other programs open. My experience with this and the prior Nimean game is that the controls are utterly horrible. Camera swings about wildly when you try and move your character and constantly works in too close. Changing control and view settings did not help. Game does not seem to be designed for a touch screen and there is no onscreen joypad appearing even when I select that option. Simply agonizing to try and make the character do anything. Also, no audio speech, just a compressed squealy babble when characters talk - text does appear at the bottom of the screen but I tend to miss it - just weird as speech bubbles do appear most of the time when characters talk - however there are no words in the bubbles. Also difficult to tell who is speaking and who they are speaking to due to camera jumping around and getting too close in. There may be a great experience here, but I’ll never know it. Life is too short. There are lots of great games out there that work properly - better to play one of those than struggle with this. The world is very imaginative, and although the subject matter isn’t necessarily the deepest or insanely profound, it’s very much worth thinking about sincerely and critically. I love the imagination put on display here. Everything in the world is interesting. I cannot praise the atmosphere enough. And the discussion of religion and faith is something I was interest in talking about. The world itself is Nimia a world I made when I was a kid, and a lot of the characters have been in my mind for a long time so it was great to be able to bring them to life. Developer did a great job here, his world is well drawn, imaginative, and submersive as you continue following the story. So, this was imaginative and refreshing. The story is the centerpiece; game play is follow the story; any fighting along the way is in service to the story. I enjoyed, is a great counterpoint to the endless games of basically boring nothing fight & grind. No grind here. I think total game play is several hours or more, depending on the player. There is a beginning and end.
