Since the update, I find it difficult to navigate, doesn’t contain content that is useful and there is no longer a weather setting for anywhere. I am deleting this app and will be looking for a better version from another channel. Deleting it now. Unusable for me now so it is just taking up space. It used to be organized a lot better and more concise, seeing headlines at a glance. I was using the 9 news app for catching up on actual news. I don’t like the layout either, it has no flow. I was reading a news piece I thought was Australian only to realise it was from America half way through. I was hoping I could revert back to the old version but it seems not. Visually unappealing, clunky to use, and far, far too many pop-up ads. The adverts take up more room than the news. Even though I’ve set my preferences I can’t see the stories. No breaking news and NO WEATHER!!!! New UI not user friendly and hard to navigate content, way too many adds, hard to read articles. Not worth using anymore. Example: a short article, 11 large ads, every 3 short paragraphs, taking the full space of the paragraph block, repeating the same ad. Can’t scroll to read context without launching the irrelevant ad. Then include embedded tile cards to other (unrelated) news stories as click throughs. There is more screen real estate dedicated to ads and other articles, then the content of the open story. Makes it unreadable Edit: please review the overwhelming usability feedback across these ratings. These aren’t from people who ‘don’t like change’, it’s a clear reflection in lack of usability testing and no prioritisation of human design. I would question if the new design even meets accessibility standards? Trying to make it ‘modern’ has turned viewership away from the journalism you’re trying to get more people to connect with through the digital age ### 2/5 — NO WEATHER? *2026-06-12, version 3.0.1* I’m expressing my absolute frustration with the unnecessary update of the 9 News app. I read the app content like I used to read the newspaper- front page to back page but this new update opens up web pages and doesn’t keep my reading within the app. AND NO MORE WEATHER?? I checked the weather on the old app multiple times a day but I can’t even locate the weather page in this app if it’s there at all! Horrible update. I paid $4.99 for a beautiful weather app and am now using another news app which shall remain nameless. RUINED one of my most used apps.I am updating my review to say that I have not used the new app EVEN ONCE since the latest update and I used to use it multiple times a day before the update.
