### 3/5 — Recent problems

*2026-02-09, version 3.18.0*

I have been using this for 10+ years now and have my team using it. Just over the last few days the app on my iPad is locking me out and the web version works but is very slow to upload images. Never had this problem before but it is a critical error as we are working as a team at a major trade exhibition and its failure is wasting time and money.

### 3/5 — Spectacular! Most powerful, relational DB available on iPad wo/expensive subscription fees

*2025-11-20*

I dropped my rating from May 2025 by two stars due to degradation of performance in newest Ninox Versions. I am strictly a native app user on my Mac, iPad, & iPhone and using iCloud to sync between them. I’m also on latest iOS/iPadOS.

A year ago, opening Ninox was nearly instantaneous, allowing access to my database list, then nearly instantaneous opening any of my databases using a single click. Database manipulation once in your DB was snappy!

That’s all changed! Getting to my database list now takes nearly a minute, regardless of whether you are opening Ninox or closing one database to get to a different one. That’s like a couple of centuries of CPU time on an app that is not dependent on a WiFi connection to a server. Then after getting to my database list, opening a database often takes nearly another half a minute! I’ve asked Support to comment on this severe degradation in performance days ago and not received any explanation. Given Ninox’s blazing speed in the past and current poor performance, I’m being generous in giving the app 3/5. If you’ve the patience to wait, Ninox still works effectively, although slower. Hoping for some updates that restore Ninox’s past performance!

### 3/5 — Could do with CAPS and DARK MODE

*2025-08-25, version 3.17.6*

Could do with a CAPS LOCK format for “fields”, and a dark mode so it’s easier on the eye

### 3/5 — UI has a mind of its own

*2024-09-21, version 3.13.3*

After spending time getting forms to look as I want on my iPad, each new version of Ninox seems to mess them up. The developer makes needed and welcomed improvements, but at the cost of user experience.

### 2/5 — Useless

*2024-09-09, version 3.12.8*

the web based version is excellent and i use NINOX for my business advanced and comprehensive use. It works well and i do like it. The app itself is a waste of time it used to work well but just seems to have lots of bugs long delays in fixing it. Records from the cloud just dont update in the app making it useless in a cloud based mobile environment as you cant rely on the information being displayed as accurate. numerous attempts to get this fixed requests to support and via a third party developer NOTHING pick up your game and get the app sorted

### 3/5 — No back/ undo button

*2024-04-22, version 3.10.11*

Great application but its unfortunate the app and website version does not have something as simple as an undo button. I would hand over my money today if this a functionality was featured

### 2/5 — It won’t run under Mojave (10.14)

*2024-03-19, version 3.10.11*

Under system requirement it said Mac OS X 10.13. In fact it won’t run under Mojave (10.14). Be warned.

### 4/5 — Проблемы с полем дата

*2024-03-17, version 3.10.11*

1. Нет возможности быстрого ввода данных цифрами в поле дата, пока крутишь барабан с годами до нужного года можно состариться!
2. Нет поддержки динамических шрифтов, размер шрифта мелкий!

### 2/5 — Many Targets Broken for Mouse/Trackpad

*2024-01-25*

Many of the targets are non-functional when using a mouse or even Magic Keyboard trackpad. For example, you can click and activate the ‘go to last record’ but not the ‘go to next/previous’ buttons. The only way to make them work is by physically touching the screen or using the up/down keys on keyboard. There are many/many other buttons that are not actionable using the mouse/trackpad. For those of us with disabilities, these omissions make this app a no-go. The developers are not testing the functionality on the iPad for all use cases. Too bad, so sad.

Side note: You cannot import lists of contacts from your iOS contacts, You can only import ALL of the contacts, I fail to see how this does anything but create a giant table that you then have to clean up, so what’s the point?

### 2/5 — Promising but lacking

*2023-04-08, version 3.8.11*

This app offers basic database features but very poor, largely incomplete documentation on anything but the most elementary aspects of the program.

There are instructional videos, either a long rambling set on YouTube, or a punchy very superficial set of quick videos on the company website. Either way you’ll be struggling.

Then there’s the subscription price. In Australian dollars it works out at about twice the cost of the entire MS Office 365 suite of substantial programs.

It has a limited feature set, poor documentation, poor instructional videos, and is very expensive.

But if you can overcome all that, it probably does offer a handy iPad database tool.

### 3/5 — Can’t select item(s) from a drop down list

*2023-04-06, version 3.8.10*

Trying to select items in this way seems frighteningly glitchy and not working properly at the moment. This simple thing should not be present in software many years in development. Issue in iPhone and iPad. Have they done something to the underlying architecture such that older Ninox databases we create no longer work correctly?

### 3/5 — Seems good but be straight up about charges

*2023-04-06, version 3.8.10*

There is no mention of the charges in the App Store and I’m a month or so in before I’ve had a message saying it’s £10 or £20 a month to use. While it’s probably not bad value for money and good for business use for what I’m after it’s too much. Thankfully I haven’t had time to put much of my masses of craft supplies on there so it’s not a disaster but I wish you had been up front about the costs in the App Store - it doesn’t even say in app purchases let alone a monthly fee

### 2/5 — I dont like this latest version

*2023-03-10, version 3.8.7*

Prefer the older version. before each field used to expand to multiple lines for easy viewing. Now i can only see 10 words at a time and have to scroll through to read all my text. Annoying

### 4/5 — A Fantastic Database but

*2023-02-18, version 3.8.4*

Truly an amazing database application, possibly the best available currently, apart from one very important enhancement- see belo, having flexibility, presentation, performance, with import / export functionality, cloud sync etc.
The available icons as base indicators need to be expanded, being a minor issue, likewise changing the font weight/size would be a nice , but what for me exceeds all the competition is being able to view your data in numerous ways such as Kanban, Cards, Tables, Spreadsheets etc., each with their own saved dedicated sort and filter criteria if created. Absolutely mind boggling.
However I’m unable to give Ninox a 5 star rating simply because there is no means to Password Protect any created database locally should you wish to, a situation a find in today’s environment so disappointing - to me it’s a must, and it’s current absence let’s Ninox down and all the hard work so far put into its creation by the Coders.
To this end I have raised this important feature with support and am hoping they will take the matter on board with an update in the very near future, given that one can Password Protect a database’s structure.

### 3/5 — 需要一些改进

*2023-02-11, version 3.8.3*

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Stunningly awkward & not completely reliable

*2025-10-23, version 3.17.10*

Tiny and confusing controls make it all but impossible to use on a phone. Somewhat erratic as well. Syncs don’t always work and last night it would not log into my account.

### 1/5 — Freezes, poor documentation

*2025-05-25, version 3.15.7*

Documentation exceptionally poor and sparse, infrequently updated. Uses its own language for functions and queries, but many language elements aren’t documented and behave inconsistently.

Can’t open iCloud database on iPad. App freezes, which means I now can’t access any of my data. Years of work gone.

Avoid.

### 1/5 — Broken again

*2024-09-12, version 3.13.3*

It seems I’m now logged out after this update, and login buttons in two places in the app do nothing, as if the buttons aren’t touched. So I can’t login anymore, and I only see old data.

### 1/5 — For continually telling me this app will end

*2023-05-23, version 3.8.14*

Every time I click anything the app tells me this app will be taken off the app store.

Please get it sorted, it's stopping me working with my database.

### 1/5 — Unresponsive development, incomplete or fragmented documentation.

*2022-12-26*

After spending weeks trialing Ninox across iOS and macOS, I was very hopefully for the software but you simply get zero response from support, the documentation is extremely minimal , fragmented or incomplete which makes it very hard to recommend. Their support forums are some kind of crazy mishmash of multiple bulletin platforms that were merged incorrectly which make them mostly unusable due to missing replies or dead links to other threads that no longer exist.

The most hard to swallow pill is direct support:

My iCloud sync was not working at all so I recached out via email to support describing the issue. I received an automated email a week later asking how satisfied I was with the support- even though no one had ever responded. That was about a month ago, still no response to address the issue.

This is what happens to you as a paid customer of the max app.

Aside from this there are also major bugs with iPadOS and keyboard usage - a massive area where a keyboard would be but isn’t. There are also approximately zero key commands for this software which is insane.

I just cannot sink any more time into an unsupported platform and that’s really why I can’t recommend it. It’s such a shame because really like how the software functions overall and the price appears to be right. I guess you get what you pay for in relational databases.

### 1/5 — First thing I wanted to do … nope …

*2022-10-09, version 3.7.7*

No way to change the font size?! Stopped me right there.

### 1/5 — NOT AS HELPFUL AS HOPED

*2022-03-26, version 3.5.14*

I have been working with a Ninox database for a while now to record my sewing patterns. I haven’t found it to be very intuitive & that’s after reading the instructions several times! I have now been cut off from my free data base as they are saying I am part of a team - even though I have never paid a fee before. I. Do. Not. Recommend.

### 1/5 — App goes black

*2021-10-23, version 3.5.4*

I love Ninox and the app was working well on my iPad Pro and then they updated the app and now it opens and goes to a black screen after entering data. It is like the window disappears up and to the left leaving a black screen. I tried deleting it and reinstalling it but that didn’t fix it. I was hopeful that an update to the update would fix it but that didn’t work either. I can still use my internet account but I’m bummed the app stopped working.

### 1/5 — Update turned it into crap

*2020-12-12, version 3.2.0*

Has become totally useless since the latest upgrade. Pisses me off. I can’t even get into individual records to edit them. Now I just have to find a way to extract my data so I don’t lose it all. There is no reason to turn something simple into a product that tries to do it all. At least leave the basic option for those of us who only want to use it for that specific task.

### 1/5 — I WANNA CREATE TEAM

*2020-03-02, version 2.6.5*

WITHOUT SIGNING IN

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Review of Five Years on Ninox

*2026-05-14, version 3.18.18*

I am a personal user of Ninox, not a business and I only use it at its most basic level. But as a database it has been a real boon to organise and record my hobbies, holidays and interests. Essentially a diary of important events in my life. I wish to thank the team at Ninox and since there is no subscription I wanted to let them know what a great service they provide to any private individual who likes to organise their life with dates, descriptions and photographs. Many thanks Peter

### 5/5 — Spectacular! Most powerful, relational DB available on iPad wo/expensive subscription fees

*2025-05-15, version 3.15.7*

Think back on when 8086 PC’s and Apple 2e’s were powerful and useful! That was the benefit of text based processing. Ninox is a text based, extremely powerful relational DB with NO field or table limits. I’m retired now, but when I was working as a service technician, I duplicated all the workflow needed in a homegrown Ninox DB, and used my iPad Pro to track my daily work, inventory, parts usage, and orders in a fast, efficient fashion (Something the enterprise software on Windows utterly failed at. Was quicker to copy everything across at the end of the day !). There are many videos on YouTube to help you get started. A special shout-out to a very helpful company named Nioxus. They host Ninox webinars weekly dealing with all aspects of programming in Ninox and have been extremely helpful to me over the years.

### 5/5 — Solid

*2024-12-28, version 3.13.6*

I'm just warming up with this but it looks very promising!

### 5/5 — Love Ninox

*2024-09-16, version 3.13.3*

I am a non business user of this database and it has been great to organise my life. I use is it as a document holder, important photographs, diary, event scheduler, the list is as long as you care to make it. Wonderful product, it worries me that there is little competition but as long as Ninox is there, I am happy. 😊

### 5/5 — Love Ninox!

*2024-07-04*

I have the application for my iMac and my iPhone/iPad. I love this application. I created my own database for tracking my health and medical appointments and the related bills to those. I had tried another application called Tidy Health, but that doesn’t seem to be a relational database and required multiple uploads of the same files and different areas. I love being able to customize the database to what I need.

### 5/5 — Best database app for MacOS and iOS

*2024-06-18, version 3.12.5*

I have been using it for a few years with no problems. It syncs flawlessly across my Macs, iPad and iPhone. Supports drag and drop for documents and is very flexible and feature packed. Support is great, and the app gets frequent updates. On of the best apps I have, and one of the most essential.

### 5/5 — Amazing app!

*2024-02-03*

I found that I can do some incredible things with this database application! There are not many databases that run on smart phones that are this sophisticated; perhaps this is the only one that is. I’m very impressed with how far they’ve come in the developing and enhancing of this product. It is fairly easy to learn to develop simple databases. Complex databases require much more technical understanding of database concepts and scripting, however. If you want to work with iPhones and iPads, and have your databases synchronized between the two, it will cost you nothing!

The biggest downside is the weak documentation. It is improving, but still needs more information and examples for how to use the functions.

### 5/5 — Running Two Businesses with Ninox

*2022-12-30, version 3.7.14*

Money saver.

### 5/5 — A Superb App

*2022-09-23, version 3.7.6*

I first downloaded this app back in 2018.
It wasn’t until 2020 that I decided to start seriously using it, after getting frustrated with other apps that are almost right, but not fully workable.
After testing a number of database apps, this app gave the best results and works amazingly well on all my devices.
When I started I had very little database knowledge and a little bit of scripting knowledge.
After a days worth of work I had my basic database up and running.
Since 2020 I have expanded my database, modified and improved it with incredible ease.
The thing I love about this app is the fact that I can control exactly how it works and I no longer need to wait for apps to add the features and tools I need and want.
This app has far exceeded my expectations and produced great results.
