Please note: The Nissan Virtual Key requires the installation of a Nissan Virtual Key device on the vehicle. Please visit your Nissan dealership and ask for the Nissan Virtual Key Kit. The Nissan Virtual Key offers a quick way to quickly access your vehicle from your smartphone, replacing the key fob. This app enables you to seamlessly share your vehicle with family and friends by creating multiple Virtual Keys and managing them from your smartphone. Lock, unlock and start your Nissan via Bluetooth Using your smartphone, simply log into the app and press one of the key fob icons to lock, unlock, start the engine, or open the trunk of your vehicle from a distance. As a safety precaution, the engine can only be started by pressing the brake pedal and pushing the start engine button located in the vehicle. Share and manage virtual keys When you want to give someone access to your vehicle, easily create and send them a Virtual Key. Once the invite is accepted, they will be able to use the Nissan Virtual Key app to access and control your vehicle based on the permissions and time period you’ve allowed. You can also revoke access from within the app. You can share up to 7 Virtual Keys. Manage and locate multiple vehicles The Nissan Virtual Key can be used to access and control multiple vehicles simultaneously from one vehicle owner account. I give then product a 5 stars. ### 5/5 — Useful Tool *2025-11-16* I bought my car to use it on Turo and the virtual key has been a useful tool to allow my guests access to the car without having to meet them or buy a clunky key box. I wish that the app had the option to get notifications when the key is used. ### 1/5 — A waste of money!!! *2025-01-15* Although the availability of a virtual key was one of the selling points of the Ariya, this version of it is a disaster, and a complete waste of the $1000 the dealer charged. With some other brands of EV, the Virtual Key recognizes the approach and departure of the driver, and overall his as good as having a fob. This Nissan version is not that, not even close! Furthermore, it is a privacy disaster, demanding access to ALL of your contacts! And those go to a third party! We love our new Ariya, but we might not have bought it if we had known that Virtual Key is such a disaster, as that was a significant factor for us. What a waste of $1000! Honestly, I feel like we were ripped off by Nissan, and even by the dealer who should have told us that Virtual Key is a trash app. ### 1/5 — Privacy disaster *2024-12-11* Well my Nissan Virtual Key was installed. Didn’t take me 3 min to find the first major strike against the app. I went to share my virtual key with my daughter and after hitting the Invite New Driver button it prompted me to share my contacts with the app. No flipping way am I letting this random company upload my contacts. So I said no. And in return, poof, the feature of sharing my virtual key with someone is now disabled. Makes no sense that I have to give you contact information for every contact in my address book so I can share the virtual key with one person. What in the world is Nissan and this third party developer thinking? (And that’s putting it mildly.) There’s no technical reason you need access to all of my contacts’ information and you’re not getting it. There’s a principle in IT: you don’t want any more access to systems or information that what you absolutely need. If you don’t follow this principle then you are unnecessarily vulnerable to more problems when systems are breached or fail. Start following this principle or you’ll have fewer customers, and Nissan will sell fewer cars. ### 1/5 — A complete waste of money *2024-08-23* I paid extra for this feature for my brand new Murano. It has never worked and nobody can seem to fix it. I paid $600 to have this feature and can’t even use it. Don’t waste your money. ### 1/5 — Waste of money *2024-02-29* I understand I’m going to need to be closer to my Pathfinder than when I use my key fob. But the real pisser is the remote start fails every single time. When I get in and I press the brake and start key, the car shuts off. I placed calls to Tom Peacock Dealership in North Houston and they have failed to return my phone calls. When I brought this up to them 3 weeks after I bought the car in November, the guy said he would need to research the problem. It’s March and I haven’t heard back from them. So yeah, poor customer service on top of everything. Oh! And the Apple Watch app of this quit working. It doesn’t find the car and bring up the buttons anymore. Great! ### 1/5 — Does NOT work - Keyfob works better *2024-02-03* I paid $600+ to have this installed on my Ariya because I don’t carry a purse and hate having to attach a key fob to my phone. With this app you CANNOT walk up to you car and have it recognize your virtual key and unlock automatically (like the keyfob does). The app does NOT control the unlock button on your car. Instead, you have to pull out your phone, open the app, and WAIT and WAIT for it to connect and only then can you hit unlock from the app. I was stuck in a parking garage just WAITING and WAITING standing next to my car and felt VERY unsafe. When I was FINALLY able to get into my car, then you have to hit the “Enable start” button on the app. WHY do I have to enable this every time??!! Why doesn’t the app just keep “enable start” always enabled??!! Do NOT waste your money…the keyfob (although bulky to carry) has MUCH better functionality. This app is the crappiest most useless key and if a keyfob worked like this, everyone would be up in arms. I am now trying to get Nissan to refund me for this absolutely useless aftermarket “feature”. I should have bought a Tesla with this feature already installed and working properly. UGH!!!!!!! ### 1/5 — Chechy *2023-12-05* This app need a lot improvement. I just got a Nissan rogue and they instal the virtual key at the car dealer just work in there for the demo after that I cannot connect my car. I can’t use the virtual key.
