Tried sending to Epson Print Layout, just got error. The developer (Nik Bhatt) has a passion for his work which shows in the update/addition cadence as well as his timely response to my questions/suggestions. The product is very good, and using the “Finder” system let me move all my photos from Lightroom Classic and keep the same organization I set up in 2008. ### 5/5 — Excellent photo software *2026-04-28* I started digital photography with Aperture and Silver Efex Pro for my black and white work. I have been trying to find a similar combination since and I have found it with Nitro. I can work on the Raw file in Photos using the Nitro extension and then export it as a 16-bit Tiff to the Nik Collection using the export action feature. Nitro is an easy to use program but with abundant features available. ### 5/5 — Just keeps getting better *2026-04-28* I have been using this app since it came out. I use it on my iMac, Macbook Air, iPad and iPhone both with files in folders and in the Photos library. If you have a mobile photography life this an app that you should consider. It extends the Raw support beyond that offered by Apple and leverages all the tools offered by Apple that Apple itself hides. It has some unique tools as well - the extended curve feature is fantastic for getting blown highlights back into range. The masking is simple but effective. The best thing is that it is under active development with new features being added regularly and Nik is very responsive when dealing with problems. It is simply the best value app for cross-device image development on Apple devices. Strongly recommended. ### 5/5 — Essential addition to Apple’s Photos app *2026-04-28* Brilliant software that extends the Photo library with Aperture / Lightroom/ Capture style editing features. Favourite feature so far: it enables parallel libraries to be kept in the file system. This makes it simple to separate your professional and family photos. This functionality reminds me of IviewMedia pro. Please consider adding light boxes / collections so I can pull together images from multiple shoots and sources for particular projects. Then it would be perfect. ### 5/5 — Bereft After Aperture’s Demise. No Longer! *2026-04-28* Thanks to Nik for putting in the long hours to craft an app that Apple’s own coders could not or would not supply after they pulled Aperture from circulation. Nik brought all that experience with him when he went indie and Raw Power and now Nitro do things Aperture might have done had it survived. For example, Nitro will convert Raw files months before even Lightroom will touch them. Nitro Photo feels nimble but it combines editing and file management into one app. I hope Nik keeps developing Nitro Photo into the future! ### 5/5 — Fantastisch *2026-04-28* Ein wirklich fantastisches, mittlerweile sehr umfassendes Programm, das ich als ehemaliger Lightroom-Anwender leider viel zu spät entdeckt habe. Together they make an excellent suite of programs ### 5/5 — Aperture Reincarnated *2026-04-27, version 2026.3* I love that there is an Aperture option from its creator, and not Adobe. ### 5/5 — Finally, a RAW processor that feels right *2026-04-27, version 2026.3* I have been looking for a RAW processor to replace ACR and its expensive subscription model for a long time. I’ve tried all the alternatives, both paid and open source. Some have been promising on paper (or in their marketing) but not delivered, and some have been feature packed but I didn’t like they way they worked or how convoluted it was to achieve the look I was after. I saw a YouTube review of Nitro by someone whose opinion I trust so I downloaded the trial version and gave it a go. It immediately felt right. Using it was intuitive, and as a Mac user of almost 40 years, this is something I always look for in an app. OK, it’s not perfect (yet), but it is still a relatively new app compared to the competition, and it does pretty much everything I want from a RAW processor including DAM. And the nice thing is it is possible to contact the developer directly and get a quick response to queries and suggestions. I bought the lifetime version that is very reasonably priced in comparison to other equivalent apps, that you have to either pay an ongoing subscription for, or pay for upgrades to new versions that seem to come annually. As an Olympus/OM System user it was especially nice that it processes their computational formats that other apps (apart from OM’s own) don’t. It may not be for everyone, but for any long time Mac users this feels like a proper Mac app, and one that can only get better, and (hopefully) without becoming bloated with AI and other excessive features. Give it a try, it might be the app you were looking for. ### 5/5 — It’s a great editing option / alternative to more established apps! *2026-04-27* Love it! Love a 1 time lifetime fee under 100 Euros and no subscription model if you want to avoid it, love that it makes quick or thorough editing pretty easy, love that if you have a question or problem they answer within a few hours despite being a smaller independent team, love that it has file management baked in but you can also sort, rank and track your photos RAW or otherwise. It was a little unstable at first but since the last few updates it’s been much much better and I haven’t encountered many issues since. It’s an incredible editing platform, try it out if you’re tired of its money grabbing competitors… ### 5/5 — Great Raw app *2026-04-27* Nitro, and before that Raw Power, have been my go to photo editors for a few years now. Powerful editing, and with the file management tools as well, it’s becoming a great replacement for those that (still) miss Aperture, and need an alternative to Lightroom. Nik is very hands on with development, and responds to all bug reports and feature requests, at last where possible or practical. Definitely up there as one of the best independent developers around. I use Nitro with Photos, and the two together make an excellent photo management and editing combo, especially if you need multi-device operation - it all works seamlessly across all devices you have it installed on. In my case that’s a Mac mini M1 and an older iPad Pro (still works great on that). Tinkered with it and tried to follow the directions to even open a raw image to no avail. Decided the app is not with my effort. Uninstalled Nitro and going back too Luminar Neo ### 1/5 — It doesn't work. *2025-11-08* The preview fails to show the adjustments and you need to close the app or the editing tab in order to make it work properly. You can't zoom to fine tune the crop cause the preview will fail again. It's impossible to achieve a good workflow with this app cause you need to deal with bugs and fails all the time. It's useless. The same bugs happen with MacOS's version. If you're an amateur and need to edit one or two pictures per session, it might work. But if you need anything serious and reliable, run. Can’t do any of that. :-( ### 1/5 — Huge Performance issue *2025-01-25* I have a 2Tb M2 iPad Pro mostly for editing raw images. The app was perfect (although the ergonomics could be improved) but now it’s just not usable any longer : - Pictures take ages to load from the files.app, - Ratings are not memorised so you can’t sort your pictures… Those are the primary purpose of this app - please fix this urgently! **Developer response:** I'm sorry to hear about this problem - I will need more information to figure out what is happening and fix the problem. An we are here to make them millionares. This third party data sharing is mentioned nowhere in the privacy policy of the app linked on the data collected page. It is a powerful photo editor that offers advanced capabilities comparable to Lightroom, Darkroom and Photomator, but Nitro is significantly more user-friendly. ### 5/5 — Exactly what I’ve been looking for *2026-08-06, version 2026.07* I’m a photographer that’s been eager to ditch Adobe products from my workflow as much as possible. Great stuff here, and it’s clearly a labor of love. ### 5/5 — Comprehensive photo editor for Apple users *2026-08-03* I came across Nitro a year ago when looking for an editor designed specifically for Mac to replace DXO Photolab. Photolab is also excellent but has gradually become too demanding / slow for my ageing M1 machine. Nitro seems less demanding on the system which is a big plus for me. In my experience, Nitro has a comprehensive set of editing tools for working on RAW files. In certain respects (eg local curves adjustments) it goes even deeper than Photolab and I can’t think of anything significant that is missing. There were two major issues for me 12 months ago - namely the repair and masking tools which were both below par. However, both of these have now had major overhauls to bring them up to scratch. And that’s one of the great things about Nitro - if you buy a relatively cheap lifetime licence then the product keeps improving and expanding at zero extra cost. There are too many positives to mention them all but support for cameras / lenses that Apple has not yet adopted benefitted me when I bought some new equipment; and I really like the fact that the developer is highly engaged in supporting customers. All I can say is well done and keep up the good work! ### 5/5 — Insanely Great! *2026-06-09* This is the app I've been waiting for ever since Aperture was discontinued. The RAW tools are insanely great (I compared them with Mac apps: Capture One, Luminar Neo (Luminar's RAW editing sucks), Photos, RAW Power and Darkroom). The highlight recovery is amazing: I had a blown out photo caused by using too much power with a manual flash; it rescued it in a way that the other apps couldn't quite match. The highlight roll off is excellent; can't tell that it was an (apparently) irretrievably overexposed photo. I LOVE that it syncs the edits across my devices. Finally, I can edit on iPad and then continue editing on Mac. Photos app syncs of course, but its RAW editing tools are not up to the standard of Nitro. I just bought this, but am really excited by its capabilities. Oh, and the Ul is lovely; clean, straightforward and highly functional. Sin dudarlo, un 10. ### 5/5 — An excellent photo editor *2026-05-25* I’ve used Nitro for several months now as my main editor. Nitro has all the basic functions you need for effective editing, with some unique tools like Recover, which reaches deep into the Mac OS RAW engine to recover seemingly lost highlights. Nitro has very few weakness in terms of basic functions. The Shadows slider pulls up the lower midtowns a little too much for my taste, but you can circumvent this using the tone curve. I understand from the developer, who is very responsive to feedback, that this is being addressed. The user interface is a joy to use, whether you are using Mac OS or iOS via an iPhone or iPad. The iOS version is bundled at no extra cost, which is great. The development roadmap for Nitro has some excellent planned features. It is already highly useable, and the initial RAW file rendering is better than Photomator in my opinion. Highly recommended for enthusiast photographers who wish, for example, to expand their editing options beyond apps such as the Apple Photos editor. ### 5/5 — Remarkable ! *2026-05-22* Nitro by Gentlemen Coders has quickly become one of my favorite productivity apps on both iPad and Mac. The interface is minimal without feeling bare, and everything is exactly where you expect it to be, so you can focus on images instead of learning about the settings. Highly recommended! ### 5/5 — Somehow fixes all the annoying oversights in other editors *2026-05-04* Lightroom aside, I’ve struggled to use my iPad with any semblance of an organized workflow. Photomator can flag and rate photos, but not filter by more than a single category. Darkroom might be able to do more, but it also corrupts my photos on import!! Nitro seems to take these small frustrations and handles them with ease. It also does lens corrections, which Photomator doesn’t, and gives me the freedom to easily add my own lens correction, so I can get distortion free images of my Sony lenses adapted to my Nikon body.
