### 4/5 — My Fingers Hurt

*2026-06-25*

The app and sensor work fine, but the inability to save and export bulk data as a .csv has opened my eyes to the wrist pain of heavy numpad use. Plus, it's kinda annoying that the sensor crashes if you tab out of the app while it's collecting data.

**Developer response:** You can export as a batch from the web dashboard.
Please log into https://app.nixtoolkit.com
Contact support if you are still unable, and we will help work it out with you.

### 2/5 — Poor Connection

*2026-06-09*

Takes 5-6 attempts to connect with device. Never had an issue with the original Nix.

**Developer response:** We are sorry you are having these difficulties.
Please contact our support email and we'll be happy to assist.

### 3/5 — Great app if you have phone signal

*2026-06-06*

It’s a great app, but on several occasions now it won’t work because it is trying to download the paint library in an area with no phone signal. I just want to use my mini 3 with single scan mode.

**Developer response:** I apologize for the inconvenience.
We have implemented a fix that may resolve your issue.
Also note that your network performance can impact download speed. In some cases we've had users report better success over data where their work network blocks some sites.

### 4/5 — Doesn’t work anymore

*2026-05-28*

I had problems with the paint libraries not downloading which meant the app was useless for me. However it turned out somehow my WiFi router was stopping the download and once I forced my iPhone to use mobile data it was fine.

**Developer response:** We are sorry for your difficulty.
I understand that the issue was network released and has been resolved.
If you have any continued issues, please contact support and it will be escalated.

### 2/5 — Old NIX Apps were better

*2025-05-17*

The old NIX apps allowed you to choose multiple color vendors and would show excellent and good matches to multiple vendors. The new one only shows good matches to a single vendor, making it not nearly as helpful.

**Developer response:** Thank you for sharing this feedback — we understand how valuable it is to compare matches across multiple paint vendors. Since your experience, we’ve updated the Toolkit app to make switching brands on-the-fly much quicker and easier.

If you’re willing, we encourage you to try the latest version. And if you have any questions or run into issues, please contact our support team so we can review and help: support@nixsensor.com or https://www.nixsensor.com/form-nix-qc-troubleshooting/

We appreciate you taking the time to let us know what matters most to your workflow.

### 3/5 — Good, but the UI really needs work

*2025-01-02*

This is nice app with a poor user interface. Once you figure out how it does things, it’s good, but the learning curve is steep because it does not follow iOS UI conventions at all. It’s like a PC app from the 1980’s.

Nix, give the UI a complete overhaul, and this time, make it easier to figure out how to scan for color values, how to match to a paint brand, and how to save and export both types of data. Then you’d have a real winner. Right now, I’d hesitate to recommend the Nix Mini to my friends.

**Developer response:** Thank you for the thoughtful feedback. Usability and clear workflows are important to us, and comments like yours help inform future improvements. If you have additional suggestions you’d like to share, we’re always open to hearing them.

### 3/5 — It’s good but….

*2024-10-17*

Sometimes it gets the colour spot on, other times it not even close. If it worked all the time it would be incredible

**Developer response:** Thank you for the feedback — we’re glad to hear it’s working well for you at times. Color accuracy can be influenced by several factors such as lighting conditions, surface texture, gloss level, and workflow, which can sometimes lead to inconsistent results. We’d really like the chance to review what you’re seeing and help improve the experience.

### 1/5 — Useless for people wanting to do QA

*2024-08-05*

I bought the best scanner in the Nix range, the Spectro 2, so that our business could do quality assurance. Basically, all I want to do is create a custom library to represent a set of key RGB colours. We could then use that library to regularly scan and check against what we print, to see that our Delta is stating within range. You would think it would be easy to set up such a library. But it isn’t! The only way to add a new colour to a library is to scan a colour to start with!

The inability to offer this simple requirement renders this £1k scanner completely useless. And there’s no way I can get hold of support to help me. Crazy!!

**Developer response:** We’re sorry to hear about your experience — we understand how frustrating this must be when you’re trying to set up a reliable QA workflow.

For print quality assurance use cases like the one you’ve described, we offer Nix Print Pro, a print-specific solution designed to support custom targets, tolerances, and repeatable Delta comparisons in a way that’s better suited to QA workflows. Nix Print Pro is available on iOS, Mac, and Windows desktop, and we’d be happy to demonstrate how it could fit your needs.

We’d also like to clarify that our support team is available and ready to help. Please reach out to us directly so we can review your setup and discuss next steps: support@nixsensor.com or https://www.nixsensor.com/form-nix-qc-troubleshooting/

We’d appreciate the opportunity to assist.

### 1/5 — Really?

*2024-06-07*

I purchased the Nix 2 as a gift for my wife. She was the color coordinator in our household. I thought this might be a useful and fun tool. She never used it.... Today I needed to determine a match color for a ceiling repair at one of our homes. I decided to try and use the Nix to determine a match. I cannot authoritatively determine if the scanner is accurate but I can say the Nix Utility software is useless and unintuitive. Despite knowing the paint brand we use (Sherwin Williams), I was provided at least a dozen choices based on my scan. Useless! On balance, this was a wasted $100 "stocking stuffer." I may try this one more time on an exterior project. If I glean any useful information from the second effort, I will update my rating and review. At this point, Buyer Beware.....

### 2/5 — Great product but overpriced

*2024-06-02, version 1.7.9*

What a great product! But unfortunately I’m not prepared to spend $150.00 per year (forever!) just so I can pull up a Pantone number.

### 1/5 — Purchased libraries don’t work

*2026-06-01*

Just updated the app. Purchased the RAL library and it charged my credit card but it does not show up under the list of purchased libraries. Help!

**Developer response:** I apologize for the issues.
We have updated the software and this may resolve your problem.
If not, please email our support desk at support@nixsensor.com
We will be happy to assist.

### 1/5 — Schlechte Software

*2025-05-21, version 1.8.1*

Das ist mal eine benutzerunfreundliche Software. Viel zu kleine Schrift und ständig muss man sich neu einloggen.

### 1/5 — One use and dead

*2025-04-03*

I was able to use my Nix mini 2 exactly one time. Then the app can no longer connect even after many many hours of charging. Contacted technical support. My device is charged, it shows up in Bluetooth, but Pair on the app it gives an error.

**Developer response:** We’re sorry to hear this has been your experience — that’s certainly frustrating. Please contact our support team again and reference this review so we can identify your case and look into it further: support@nixsensor.com. We’d appreciate the opportunity to help get this resolved.

### 1/5 — App crashing

*2025-02-03, version 1.8.0*

Having issues with the app crashing since the update

### 1/5 — Constantly crashes

*2024-12-31*

I’d bought a Nix mini 3, having high hopes for matching existing decor. So far I can’t even use it! The app crashes before you can even do anything. IOS fully up to date, most recent version of the app, and no other identified clashes causing it, so I’m now stuck with an expensive piece of kit that I can’t use because the app won’t work. Sort it out!!

**Developer response:** We’re sorry for the frustration you experienced. Since your review, we’ve released several updates that address performance and stability issues.

If you’re willing, we’d really appreciate you giving the latest version another try. And if you’re still having trouble, please contact our support team so we can review and help: support@nixsensor.com or https://www.nixsensor.com/form-nix-qc-troubleshooting/

We’d appreciate the chance to turn this into a better experience.

### 1/5 — Complicated for how simple it should be.

*2024-11-13*

Really difficult to use. Saving and accessing collections could be easier. It is also crazy that there is no landscape support for iPads the app is always 90 degrees wrong. Such an easy fix. I can’t find any way to calibrate the sensor. Zero instructions and no links either.

**Developer response:** Thank you for taking the time to share this feedback — we really appreciate it. Ease of use, documentation, and iPad support are important to us, and your comments help guide our improvements. We’ll be taking this feedback seriously as we continue to refine the app.

### 1/5 — Disappointed

*2024-10-30, version 1.7.9*

The unit is so wildly off even after calibration that it is useless in the field. No on/off button so you have to bring a usb battery backup and plug it in to turn it on or wake it up. Constantly prompts for a password after a period of disuse and doesn’t work with face id or Apple’s password manager to remember the password. I would have loved for this to be a great addition to my painting contractors toolbox but I’m extremely disappointed with it.

### 1/5 — This is a bad joke

*2024-09-29*

Bought a Spectro2. It is a pretty accurate colorimeter but it’s almost useless because the app is so bad. Libraries don’t work reliably. The only known way I’ve found to save a measurement is to email it to myself and do the analysis using Excel. Tried to subscribe to Pantone library, the app took my money but won’t provide access. Is say they are scamming me, but I don’t think they are skilled enough. So disappointing.

**Developer response:** We’re sorry to hear about your experience — we understand how frustrating this must be. The Spectro 2 is designed as a professional spectrophotometer, and many users rely on it successfully, but issues like library access or subscriptions not activating correctly are not expected.

We’d very much like to look into the Pantone access issue and the behavior you’re seeing with libraries. Please contact our support team so we can review your account and help resolve this as quickly as possible: support@nixsensor.com or https://www.nixsensor.com/form-nix-qc-troubleshooting/

We appreciate the opportunity to help.

### 1/5 — big disappointment

*2024-09-23, version 1.7.9*

bought this about 10 months ago and can’t seem to get it to connect consistently or pick one paint color -big waste of $100.

### 1/5 — Crappy Nix Mini 2

*2024-09-08, version 1.7.9*

Used this a few times and was happy but when I went to use it again the battery was dead and would not charge. Big waste of money!

### 5/5 — Solid app, very cool concept

*2025-03-07*

Seems to be accurate. Easy to use. Not sure what the bad reviews are on about.

**Developer response:** Thank you for the feedback.

### 5/5 — I don’t understand the bad reviews.

*2024-11-18*

I don’t get the bad reviews. Maybe they were from an older version of the app, but I don’t mind the app, and have had no issues.

I’m an artist, traditional and digital. I have the Nix Mini 3.
I had no issues pairing, and no issues scanning to get the right color.

I use the single scan to get the HEX codes along with the image of the hue and value. It’s an incredibly useful tool when I want to color match reference images to ensure I get a decent match with the paint I’m mixing or the colored pencil I’m choosing.

### 5/5 — Great App!

*2024-10-30, version 1.7.9*

Great general color checking app. I use it with a Nix Spectro 2 to compare colors.

### 5/5 — Nix Mini 3 und Nix Toolkit top, NCS Abo mangelhaft

*2024-10-13*

### 5/5 — NIX is Great!

*2024-07-30*

I use the NIX to match colors when painting over graffiti. It works great, easy to use and color matches are very close considering the paint being covered may be old, dusty, etc. So much easier to scan, order and paint!

**Developer response:** Thank you for the great feedback! We’re glad to hear the NIX is working well for your graffiti-covering workflow and making the process easier from scanning to painting. Real-world surfaces can be challenging, so it’s great to hear you’re getting close matches in those conditions. We really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience.

### 5/5 — As advertised…

*2024-06-13*

This worked perfectly for me, and did just what I expected. I charged the device, downloaded the app, did not create an account. I was able to scan a spot on a newly-acquired painting and get the perfect paint color recommendations from the favorite brands I chose. A worthwhile investment to ensure I paint this huge accent wall the exact color I want.

### 5/5 — Why such low rating? It works flawlessly!

*2024-06-08, version 1.7.9*

I bought the Mini 3R from Amazon but was very shock and hesitated to install after seeing such low App ratings. I installed the app, scanned a few colors in the house and tested saving out color chips. Yes it doesn’t have all the color but for DIYer, residential use (Contractor myself), this is perfect. I would say it is more than enough. I would have giving 4-stars because it would help if they carry everything for Behr, SW, DE, BM, PPG. However, they really are one of the best one available at very affordable price. I give credit for that. Therefore, 5 stars! Give them a shot!
