### 3/5 — Not an efficient app

*2026-08-24, version 2026.2.1*

Not an efficient app for NJ transit riders to
1. coordinate various boarding stations

2. Prepare for getting off two stations ahead, especially for someone w/ disability.

3. Does not have an at a glance info re: estimate arrival time or upcoming station stops.

Whoever designed/developed this application does not appear to be a rider of any public transit system, definitely not NJTRANSIT.
This new app misses some major points, or helpful info that was on the old application nor is it user friendly. It feels cumbersome and inefficiently!

### 4/5 — it just feels like this app could be better

*2026-08-21, version 2026.2.1*

somehow it doesn’t feel innovative, but it is simple. BUT how come when all the trains have ended for the day, they can’t just show me the trains for the next day. I don’t want to use the trip planner! it doesn’t show me the full schedule in comparison to train tab view!!! and why doesn’t your ticket attach to your train so you know when you’ll arrive at ur destination like the previous rendition of the app?? do better NJ transit, still love you though.

### 2/5 — Impossible to use for bus schedules

*2026-08-20, version 2026.2.1*

Gives you an error or blank page whenever you try to route between two bus stops. Have to just use the old fashioned timetable to figure anything out.

### 2/5 — Good, but there’s a bad bug on map view (live a tracking bus)

*2026-08-19, version 2026.2.1*

There’s a glitch several of users have noted: when tracking your bus via the map view, and also in “Next EST” tab, the bus that’s >5 min away drops off the map and table. It just happened to me for the 156 that was scheduled for 5:47 at 43rd and park ave. This has been happening for months: a closely approaching bus disappears from your timetable. can you please look into a fix for this? I’m on apple iOS - thanks

### 3/5 — Can’t book bus tickets on the app anymore

*2026-08-19, version 2026.2.1*

Regular user of the app. Ever since I updated my ios to the latest version. NJ transit app doesn’t allow me to book bus tickets anymore. I only see the train option. It’s been atleast 10 days and the problem still persists. Ps: I also have the latest version of the app.

### 1/5 — A huge step back.

*2026-08-19, version 2026.2.1*

NJT, your latest update solves nothing for end users and adds unwanted extra taps to access key features. Gone is a quick navigation to departure vision (now via Trains, and select a station). Gone is one-tap navigation to a maintainable list of favorite trains (you can still star a train as a favorite, but who knows where to find that again, it’s not under Places and Favorites.) Work and Home ‘favorites’ clutter the home screen and don’t do anything beyond populating the ‘to’ field of the trip planner. Alerts are easily missable as they don’t sort current date to top. Active tickets still fully take over the screen and require constant dismissal; just what you need when scrambling to find info on cancellations. Finally, the app has short authentication windows, requiring fresh sign-in, typically this happens when a conductor is yelling to activate your ticket and you have 2 bars on your 5G connection. NJT, unlike your hard product, you can roll software back and don’t have a dependency on Amtrak. Please bring back the older version now.

### 1/5 — Bus Schedules Not Good

*2026-08-19, version 2026.2.1*

I’ve tried multiple times for search for availability multiple times and the experience isn’t great. Also searching for a stop doesn’t senile cards to find a stop name. You have to use the exact name from the beginning (Rt 9 or US 9)

### 1/5 — Big Failure

*2026-08-18, version 2026.2.1*

I’ve relied on this app for years to plan travel from western NJ to NYC. It has never been very intuitive or easy to use, but it got the job done. The current version does not resize to fit my iPad screen. When the app loads, it defaults to the new features tour screen, but the button is entirely out of frame and so inaccessible. So it’s useless. Didn’t anyone do any device testing?

### 3/5 — No track info

*2026-08-18, version 2026.2.1*

The new ui is terrible, you used to be able to see the track the train was on on the app and now it’s no where to be found

### 1/5 — Horrible UI/UX with no thought for actual users

*2026-08-18, version 2026.2.1*

It’s clear that this app wasn’t even made by developers in the US, let alone NJ. The app was clearly made by people who don’t take NJ Transit. Everything about the redesign is terrible and designed to frustrate the user. Who won the contract to make this pos and steal taxpayer money?

The app forces users to wait every time the app fetches new data and the placement of buttons, filters and scrolling is so poorly thought out, it would have better if they just released a 2000’s era app. Nothing is intuitive and everything is designed with the (un-)intended purpose of making the user not take NJ Transit.

### 1/5 — Don’t purchase tickets via the app

*2026-08-18, version 2026.2.1*

I paid for multiple tickets, had the money deducted from my account, and then received an in-app notification saying there was an error and a ticket wasn’t issued. Maybe don’t take peoples money when you can’t provide the basic service they are paying for.

### 1/5 — Loved old version

*2026-08-18, version 2026.2.1*

I have never written a review for an app before. I loved the old app. The new app is terrible. I need to login every time I open the app, even if I did’t quit the application, which is ridiculous. It’s harder and more cumbersome to look at schedules. When I asked the app to remember me, it saved the wrong password and then locked me out of my account.

### 1/5 — Old app design was better but the bus arrival times remain the same

*2026-08-18, version 2026.2.1*

“Bus arrival times down to the minute” is a lie. I get updates that the bus i was waiting for isn’t coming a few minutes beforehand and tells me the next one is 30 min later.

### 1/5 — TBQH

*2026-08-17, version 2026.2.1*

The only thing worse than being on NJ Transit… is the new NJ transit app

### 3/5 — Functional but unintuitive

*2026-08-17, version 2026.2.1*

The app tries to do so much that I'm not really capable of making it do anything. Right there on the home screen it has buttons for home and work, and the buttons direct me to go find the trip planner to set these values. The user interface designer is admitting defeat. They know that I need to be able to set these values, so why is there no way to press the button and set the value right there? I've been searching for 20 minutes and I'm not even convinced the trip planner exists

### 1/5 — you fumbled hard with this new UI

*2026-08-16, version 2026.2.1*

i cant even see departure vision anymore? when i do searches, it shows random addresses before stations?? what were you thinking.

### 1/5 — Update is Awful

*2026-08-16, version 2026.2.1*

This used to be a decent app. The recent upgrades have made it unusable. Thank God I don’t have to use it every day.

### 1/5 — App Redesign Fails to Improve Usability

*2026-08-16, version 2026.2.1*

Whoever redesigned the NJ Transit app scammed NJ Transit. The old app wasn’t great, but at least it was usable. This new version is practically pointless. You can’t find anything, navigation is unnecessarily confusing, and the schedule feature doesn’t even work properly.

I have a background in design, and this is a perfect example of redesigning something without actually improving the user experience. It feels like the redesign prioritized aesthetics over functionality. Please bring back the usability of the old app and fix what was broken instead of making everything harder to use.

### 2/5 — Not a fan of this new update.

*2026-08-15, version 2026.2.1*

Trip planner could be better. I want to see what time all of the stops are. If I’m already aboard a train there’s no way to search what time I’ll reach my destination, if there are delays I want to see those updates reflected. Please bring back favorite stations & quick buy tickets. Not just home & work.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Why did they make the app less functional?

*2026-08-24, version 2026.2.1*

The app is so much less functional than the previous version. Why can I no longer see the train schedule for future days? I now have to go to the NJ transit website for this information.

### 1/5 — Update

*2026-08-24, version 2026.2.1*

Never has an app lost it’s usefulness more than with the 2026 update

### 1/5 — Completely messed up a good thing

*2026-08-22, version 2026.2.1*

This new app is atrocious. Completely confusing to navigate, missing simple features from the previous version, and infuriating to use for scheduling.

### 1/5 — Password reset does not work

*2026-08-21, version 2026.2.1*

See above. Lost access to ticket because this error.

### 1/5 — Worst app

*2026-08-21, version 2026.2.1*

Worst app, never works, always have problems, never load, the old app was better, update ruined everything. Nothing work. App makes me want to kill myself

### 1/5 — Makes life harder

*2026-08-21, version 2026.2.1*

Legitimately the worst app when it comes the public transit. Actively makes my life more difficult especially since the update in summer 2026. Does not show you gates, updates to delays, anything worthwhile as a commuter looking for the fastest route home. Has consistently led me in the wrong direction onto buses/trains where I have to ask drivers if this is indeed where they are going. It’s always wrong. I don’t understand how an app can actually be this unhelpful, it’s also the least user friendly experience one could have taking a bus.

### 1/5 — New update is awful

*2026-08-21, version 2026.2.1*

The new formatting for the app is so difficult to use and while you tried to make it user friendly it now is impossible to plan ahead and see the whole schedule

### 1/5 — How could an app be this bad

*2026-08-20, version 2026.2.1*

This new app is honestly ATROCIOUS. I’m quite accustomed to NJ Transit being pretty incompetent at everything they do but this app is a new level of useless for them. The old one wasn’t groundbreaking but it worked. I can’t fathom why they would change it out for this nonsense. I literally can’t even find a coherent schedule for the route I take. I don’t know how it is possible to make an app this bad.

### 1/5 — New version is bad

*2026-08-19, version 2026.2.1*

The new version doesn’t let you view all the stops on your train. So if a train has a mechanical issue you can’t see other stops on different trains to try and get on a different train.

### 1/5 — No common sense

*2026-08-19, version 2026.2.1*

1. There is no place to submit a bug report or feature request. Your only option is to call tech support, who will tell you they can’t and won’t forward any feedback

2. Heaven forbid you get a new phone. The app can only be signed in on one device and will not let you sign in or transfer to a new device. Your only option is to create a new account and lose any tickets you purchased.

It did not used to work this way and seems like a bug, but you can’t report it because of point number 1

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Tickets

*2026-08-20, version 2026.2.1*

You are currently unable to purchase tickets on the app

### 5/5 — Schedules

*2026-06-26, version 2026.2.1*

App looks nice but in some ways not as user friendly as the old one. It does not allow you to see schedules for specific train routes the following day. If there is no train at the time you are looking a pop up blocks you from changing the date. A bad flow that needs to be fixed. The old app would let you see all the trains traveling from point to point on a specific day. That is not possible with the new app.

### 5/5 — CANT USE WITH IPAD

*2026-06-19, version 2026.2.1*

the blue intro page is stuck when I open the app I can’t even use this app on my iPad yall need to make it smaller or something so I can click the “get started” button

### 5/5 — Awful Update and UI changes

*2026-06-18, version 2026.2.1*

The app was atleast usable before, now this UI system is honestly the worst thing I’ve ever seen. It’s a learning curve to get bus routes, train routes, extra pressing to find the route. What was the thought process here? Are we forgetting that apps also have to be accessible and intuitive for our older population as well? Reverse the changes and just fix the bug. Not everything needs to be a whole revamp in design.
Just. Fix. The. Bugs.

### 5/5 — 5 STARS ISNT ENOUGH.

*2026-06-17, version 2026.2.0*

SO GOOD. 10 STARS. 20
STARS. ONE BAZILLION STARS.

### 5/5 — (Updated review) The update wiped EVERYTHING OUT!!!

*2026-05-21, version 2026.1.11*

I contacted customer service via email and they suggested uninstall and reinstall it. Now, it's working properly. I only wish arrival times would update properly.

### 5/5 — Very important feature removed

*2026-05-18, version 2026.1.11*

I used to be able to specify a date and time in the future to plan ahead. That feature is gone.

### 5/5 — Bus Times Missing

*2026-05-14, version 2026.1.11*

They updated the app, even though I thought it worked fine. Now you can’t see bus times when you search by schedule, which is worse than before.

### 5/5 — NJ Transit Apo

*2026-05-01, version 2026.1.10*

I like all it’s features. I can buy tickets from the app and see on live when is my bus. Thank you!

### 5/5 — Great

*2026-04-14, version 2025.2.0i*

Easy to use and cost effective.
