If I’m watching or listening to something else, this app breaks in and starts playing. I have not found any settings to control this. There is a play button or a pause button, and it plays whenever it feels like it. ### 3/5 — Does not automatically go the next book *2021-05-08* The app is good but with one major issue in my opinion - after going through all the chapters of a book, it switches back to the first chapter of the same book instead of continuing on to the next book. Whenever I get into my car, it always starts from Genesis 1 even though I finished chapter 17 already. Not too bad overall, but the voice acting for. Christ squire frankly terrible. Christ comes across generally as weak. Nervous, neurotic. Not bold, strong, authoritative and gracious. For instance, a man trying to sound like a lady, or a child and it is completely obvious. Also, chapter 6 is missing from 2 Kings. It literally jumps from chapter 5 to chapter 7. I’m listening chronologically so I haven’t had much experience with the NT yet. I downloaded it because the YouVersion Bible App doesn’t have the NKJV version on audio and I am memorizing Romans currently in NKJV. If you want to use it for reading tho I definitely would not recommend this app. It’s not very coherently written. The YouVersion Bible app is definitely way better for that! Now I remember why I chose NIV & NASB over NKJV many years ago. Plays music in background behind audio readings. When in book view, doesn’t change chapters in sync with audio. Not returning. The player doesn't automatically progress to the next book, even after pressing the forward button. The "settings" section doesn't actually have any settings at all, only contact & review options. I speak in various venues and am converting my brain from thinking in KJV to the NKJV. I’ve been listening to Acts, and the voice of the primary reader sounds quite fuzzy and indistinct. HOWEVER, the reader for the voice of Peter is excellent! Is this difference the result of the recording process or the voices of the readers?? Good question. Thanks for this product. The problem is that you cannot just listen through the Bible. If you stop for more than a few hours, it randomly picks a spot that it claims you left off at. Making it very difficult to just doa successive read through over a period of weeks. If it would just hold your spot, it would be so much better. Who the voice actors are’??? ### 5/5 — GREAT ... UPDATED REVIEW *2020-04-17* This Bible app is exactly what I was looking for — dramatized NKJV with text and audio at an affordable price, under $5! At first I thought that I could not change the font size, but I was wrong. Tap the screen and you will see F+ and F-. Tap to make the [F]ont smaller or larger. While the text and audio are not in sync, since I have to do the scrolling, I am kept on my toes and I don’t “zone out.” You find the correct chapter by hitting the audio and book icons at the center bottom. Start the audio and then return to the book/text. If you want to pause the reading, tap the Player icon at the far left bottom to Pause. I’m not tech savvy, but I learned how to operate after a couple weeks of trial and error. Excellent reading/audio quality, and no translation beats the New King James Version (NKJV). For the price, an EXCELLENT app. The Word of Promise is roughly the same thing, but it takes up so much storage and is $40, almost ten times more expensive. The voice of Jesus in revelation is perfect. Wish I knew who the readers are. Other aps listed readers.
