Station pages on the NDBC website are not updating and there is no ETR at this time. We apologize for this but we are at the mercy of NOAA and their restoration of these services. ### 3/5 — Thanks *2020-07-12* The data is older than some other apps that I am looking at. Used to be more timely. Now the email address doesn’t work either. **Developer response:** Our data comes directly from NOAA and we do not cache data for more than 60 minutes. Please note that it is .net NOT .com. ### 4/5 — Sea height *2019-12-14* Why does the data show the sea height anymore? **Developer response:** If a given buoy is reporting this information, the app will show it. Not all buoys have the same information and sensors. Sometimes sensors fail and that buoy may stop reporting some information. ### 2/5 — Worked pretty well for a couple of years but its broken *2019-08-24* The app worked well for a few years. A couple of weeks ago it began to hang on the opening screen and then just crashes back to the app icon. Please e-mail us with the name of the buoy for which you are not getting wave information so we can help. You can reach us at info@veronasolutions.net. ### 3/5 — Should have read reviews *2017-09-03* 2nd re-write: The developer responded the same day as my review, and provided instructions to disable automatic user location (set Auto-Retrieve to off). Having downloaded the app again and making the location changes, I am still nagged with a pop-up error, "No Location. Access to location denied! Check Settings." Another issue is that wave height info is missing from most buoys I've checked along the eastern shore. NOAA comparisons show the data (just not provided from within the app). Excellent marine weather info otherwise. **Developer response:** The app does not require location services to be enabled. You can go to the settings in the app and set the Auto Retrieve off. You can then manually set your location. The app requires location in order to show you stations near you. We DO NOT capture your location or profit from it in any way. Our app has been in continuous service for 9 years. We have not ever, used user location to advertise, sell or promote to them. As long as you have gps running the program works. If you have it off to do some planning, it will not work. This is not a navigation program. Once I store my favorites, I should be able to access them. Anytime! **Developer response:** The app uses your location in order to display stations by proximity to you. While you are right that favorites may not need this, the other features do and we have no control over which features the user decides to use. That being said, you can go to the settings menu in the app and turn off auto location. Once you do that, the app will allow you to search for and set your location manually. If this solves your problem, please consider revising your review. ### 4/5 — Best Buoys App *2017-02-02, version 7.7* I am not sure why this app is getting some very low ratings. It's easy to use on my iPhone 6. I like having the list of nearest buoys so I can choose one - or view all of them on a map. You can always search for buoys that aren't near you easily if you are planning trip. ### 5/5 — Best nav aid that's always with me *2016-11-15, version 5.11* One of my favorite boating and because when Im on a friend's boat or my kayak I know that if I have my phone on me I always know where Im at and where I can go ### 2/5 — Can't save buoy favorite *2016-10-24, version 5.11* Since iOS 10 I've been unable to save any buoy as a favorite. When it's working it's great. I'm using a 6s and it doesn't seem to be updated to function like it should. It's laggy. I frequently have to close it out and re-open. Hoping it's fixed soon or I'll be shopping around. Please update!! ### 4/5 — Good simple solid app *2016-02-25, version 5.11* I use this all the time. It's accurate and easy to use. Actually reports buoy data so there is no prediction, it's fact. I have sat next to bout 10 miles offshore and temp and swell dead on. I wish it did some swell map predictions and some SST predictions but I doesn't that I can find. There is no mention of Wellington, Australia anywhere and the image you may have mistook for wellington is actually of Florida, USA. There are many ways to search for buoys on the app and the app reports on every NOAA buoy that is on-line but you may be using a method to find the buoys you need that may not yield the best results. I would like my money refunded. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Please update *2022-12-06* Aloha, I really like the format of this app. But now it does not load on my iPad Pro 11” running software 15.6.1 version. ### 5/5 — Update 9/18/2020: old problems fixed, good to go *2020-09-18, version 8.05* I walk my dogs next to the SF Bay, and this app will tell me the temperature and velocity of the wind off the water. My regular weather app (Weather On) is right on the money for ambient temp and wind speed, but the buoy data tells me the wind temp and speed off the water, and whether or not I'll need a jacket. Maybe a "one trick pony", but it's really good at it, and I use it every day for that. The tide data is there also, but is easier to read in Tide Graph Pro. I'd buy both, if you're by the water. Tip: Pick a few “favorite” buoys near you, and those are the only ones that will come up when you tap favorites (so you don’t have to sort through all the weather on the coast, but you can if you wish). The app responds quickly, so the delay from home; screen to favorite buoy air temp and wind speed takes about 3 or 4 seconds max. Simple, and well written. This is by far the best weather app for any nautical area. No frills, accurate and timely data from an authentic, authoritative source. Within days of submitting the review they released an update that solved the issue and the app works great! If this solves your problem, please consider revising your review. ### 5/5 — Best App for the Professional Mariner *2019-05-05* As a yacht delivery captain who delivered vessels all over the world, this app has been my go-to marine weather resource. I have bought other apps that claim to be NOAA Data Buoy but fail miserably in provide NOAA textual data. This app provides marine weather forecasts as well as current and historical data verbatim from NDBC/NOAA. Don’t waste your time or money. Take it from a professional mariner.
