### 1/5 — Adding inventory is cumbersome

*2026-04-12*

First thing I tried to do was just add a generic bourbon, since I have several dozen bottles of bourbon and would prefer to pick which one for a recipe depending on what I’m feeling that day. I don’t see a way to do that. It looks like I have to scan or enter a specific barcode for every bottle of spirits and liqueurs. No way am I going to do that. I’m deleting the app.

**Developer response:** Hi, it’s right on the My Bar tab. Tap the Add button and select Add Generic Ingredients and type „Bourbon“. You can also just scan one of your Bourbon bottles barcodes and you get pretty much the same experience. You can also use the Search tab instead and add from a detail screen. Many ways to get there.

But it seems we need to work on our onboarding if that was not clear to you. Sorry you had a bad experience.

### 4/5 — Best I found, but could use improvement

*2026-03-06*

This is the best app I have found for keeping a catalog of what I have in my bar. But there are a couple frustrations…

1 if you have a bottle that they don’t already have in their database it forces you to scroll through everything they do have, before you are allowed to manually enter your bottle. If you have a unique brand of vodka, your thumb will fall off before you get to the end of the list, and it takes time to load.

2 I wish there were better filtering and sorting options on the cocktail recipes. It allows us users to add their own cocktail recipes, which is fun. But as a result, there’s a lot of “five star“ recipes that were entered by one person who reviewed their own recipe. Also a lot of duplication of recipes where people are just recommending different brands of spirits for the same cocktail recipe. You can limit the recipes to a single source, but even that list is endless. Would like the ability to limit the search to classic cocktails, or maybe cocktails with over 100 reviews.

**Developer response:** Thanks for taking the time to write a detailed review! 🙂

I'll answer one by one.

1. If the app couldn't find a match for the bottle via the barcode, we recommend to first use the search to see if we have the product in the database to prevent duplicates. We don't force you to, though. There's a + button in the top right that reminds you to use the search first, which is sensible in my opinion, but you can ignore that if you want to.
Or maybe we are talking about a different flow? Not sure, maybe you can reach out via email or the in app chat so we can clarify and maybe we can find a solution that would work better.

2. I agree that "1 total review of 5 stars" should not equal "Top 10 drink of all time". There's already a task to split this list into multiple ones like "Fresh Favorites" and "All Time Bests" and maybe something to highlight original user drinks that should be "peer reviewed". Should be coming in the next couple of weeks.

We are not actually curating content that much. So many other apps do that already. We like to stay true to the source if we provide an index for books and we trust our community to share recipes that they think would make a great addition to the database. We have some soft rules, but that's about it.
So for example if we provide an index of a book, we make sure that every recipe is in there, including variants. That leads to 23 different recipes in Death & Co: Modern Classic Cocktails alone. Staying true to the source in this case is our priority.
In other cases users add drinks that have been added to the database before. While it would be great if users would always use the search beforehand to check if the recipe is already in the database, I think this would be preventable by detecting this before the drink gets created and we could alert the user.
But yeah, I understand that this is annoying in search results. We are thinking about ways to bundle up variants of the same drink, so they don't come up multiple times in search results and provide a sensible "cover" variant. This is not an easy task from a design perspective though and so far we haven't found a way to introduce this while not making the app more complex and still let users discover variants in an easy way. Hopefully we can solve this in the coming months.

If you have more feedback, let us know, we need it!

Cheers,
Olli (retendo in the app)

### 5/5 — Best bar app

*2026-02-05*

Amazing! Best bar app I have ever used and not even close.

**Developer response:** Thank you very much :)

### 5/5 — Great App

*2026-01-16*

I've tried them all and this is the best by far!

**Developer response:** That was our experience as well! 🙃

### 1/5 — Does not work and very cumbersome to use.

*2026-01-14*

I couldn’t even add the bottles I had in my bar. It won’t recognize barcodes and then I have to add a picture? Why is there no option to add bottles manually without a picture? Even when I add a picture I have to type in the name of the bottle. I don’t understand what was the point of the picture. So why not just allow adding bottles without the picture?
Why do I have to enter the size of the bottle? Which also does not work - I can’t get the finish button to do anything. The app just hangs. How does it matter if I have a 300 ml bottle or a 1 l bottle?

I should be able to type and add bottles instead of this highly complex process

**Developer response:** Hi baishyax,

if you don’t want to use the barcode scanner, you can just use the search tab to find your bottles. If you want it even simpler and skip the products altogether, you can even just fill your inventory with generic ingredients.

As we are just two people working on the app in our spare time we have to rely on users to add to the database as well. A barcode is always bound to a specificly sized product (700ml bottle of Aperol for example). So that’s why we ask for information like that if we don’t have the product or barcode in our database yet.

As for what this enables feature-wise: Some users like to keep track of how much they have in their inventory, including fill levels.

Regarding the app hang on the finish button: Could you describe the issue a bit more via email? I would like to try to reproduce this. Our email address is contact@noflair.app.

Cheers,
Olli (retendo in the app)

### 5/5 — Great app and collection of recipes

*2025-10-16*

The more people who join and submit recipes, the stronger this app will become. Really enjoying it already!

### 5/5 — Simply Fantastic

*2025-08-03, version 1.9.2*

Lovely app for organizing and finding fun cocktails, well worth using!

### 1/5 — Internet required??

*2025-07-29*

Noticed some lag issues when searching or loading „inventory,“ and then I noticed it wouldn’t even work without internet, hence the loading lag times. Why in the world should it require an internet connection?? Sure there are nice features but you should be able to also use this as a bare bones inventory and recipe repository without having to send data back and forth. Honestly why??? Why is internet required??

**Developer response:** Hi DarkWhale1,
noflair is a collaborative app that greatly benefits from our users’ contributions to the database. Therefore we store all data on a server rather than on the phone. Every public recipe added to the database is also immediately available to everybody and we don't have to make you update the app just to get those recipes, like other apps do. You'll also benefit from other users' contributions to our product database immediately.
In our opinion that outweighs the downside of requiring an internet connection.
Best,
Oliver

### 5/5 — Wonderful App!

*2025-07-07*

Loving this app! Being able to scan barcodes of my bottles made it so quick and easy to import my collection. I’m having a lot of fun looking through recipes to see what I can make. I’m excited to see how the app evolves as more recipes are added!

**Developer response:** Glad you find the app useful 🙂

### 4/5 — Deleted my info

*2025-06-08*

Scanned all my bottles in . Now its saying i need an account when i try without none of my bottles are here. Im sure its a good app but im not doing that again. Not every app needs an account. Didnt sqitch devices or anything. Lame…..

**Developer response:** This sounds really frustrating…sorry about that. I don’t know what happened in your case but I would be happy to investigate further. Feel free to write me an email at contact@noflair.app. I’m pretty sure we can recover your account together.
