## What is Noise Switzerland?

SOURCE OF INFORMATION

Switzerland has no federal law setting uniform quiet hours: they are set by the cantons and, above all, by municipal police regulations. The app is based on those regulations and on the federal framework:

Mowing the lawn on a Saturday evening, running the washing machine at 10.30pm, drilling a hole on a Sunday morning: is it allowed where you live? Nobody knows their municipal police regulations by heart. Noise CH knows them for you!

The app tells you what applies right now, at your address, for the activity you have in mind, and until what time.

HOW IT WORKS

1. Pick your municipality, or let the app recognise it
2. Pick the activity: lawn mower, DIY, music, washing machine…
3. The app answers yes or no, and tells you until when

That's it. Simple and efficient.

FEATURES

- 1108 municipalities documented out of 2110 in Switzerland, plus all 26 cantons
- Coverage that grows with every update: municipalities are added as our research goes on, and until yours is in, the cantonal framework applies
- Every rule shown links to the text that sets it
- Verdict per activity: lawn mower, leaf blower, DIY, chainsaw, loud music, vacuum cleaner, washing machine, late shower, party, animals, fireworks, children
- Detailed schedules day by day, Monday to Sunday
- Cantonal public holidays counted as Sundays
- Next allowed window, plus a reminder: "tell me when it's allowed again"
- Municipality recognised from your location (swisstopo municipal boundaries), or picked by hand, with favourites
- "What to do?": a neighbour is making noise, who to talk to and in what order, with the contacts for your municipality and canton
- Sound level meter to place a level, advanced meter to document it
- English, French, German, Italian, with light, dark or system theme

THE SOUND LEVEL METER

A, C and Z weightings, Fast, Slow and Impulse time constants, equivalent continuous level, C-weighted peak, sound exposure level (SEL), percentile levels L10 / L50 / L90, octave and third-octave spectrum from 20 Hz to 20 kHz, spectrogram. The curves and constants are those of IEC 61672-1, computed on the device. Measurements can be saved with a comment and exported as a table.

A phone microphone is not a calibrated sound level meter: these levels are for comparing, placing and documenting. Never for proof.

IMPORTANT NOTE

The data is indicative. Your municipality's police regulations prevail, and your building's rules may be stricter. When in doubt, the app gives you the link to the source and your municipality's contact details, plus a button to report a rule that has changed.

- No account required
- The rules ship with the app and can be consulted offline
- No data collected, no tracking
- Ad-free
- Your location is only used to recognise the municipality, then forgotten
