## What is Nombook?

The useful part of a recipe is often what happens after you save it: the change you made, the photo from last time, the note that says ten more minutes in the oven. Nombook keeps the recipe and that history together.

Add a recipe in your own words or import it from a link, photo, cookbook page, recipe card, or handwritten note. Plan when to make it, send the ingredients you need to a grocery list, and use the recipe at the stove without wrestling with your phone.

ADD RECIPES YOUR WAY
• Write the title, ingredients, steps, and any notes you want to remember
• Paste a link or save a page from the built-in browser
• Scan one photo or a whole set of cookbook pages and notes
• Review and edit every import before it joins your cookbook
• Use your own cover photo, remove its background with one tap, or choose from 110+ hand-drawn dishes and drinks
• Pick from 200+ hand-drawn ingredient icons

MADE FOR THE MIDDLE OF COOKING
• Full-screen cook mode shows one clear step at a time and keeps the screen awake
• Check the ingredients before you begin
• Start a timer right from a step; it keeps running when you move on and alerts you when time is up

PLAN, THEN SHOP
• Put recipes on a calendar and see the week at a glance
• Add every ingredient—or only the ones you're missing—to the grocery list
• Items are grouped by aisle, and matching ingredients from different recipes are added together
• Look back through a month or a year of home cooking

KEEP NOTES FOR NEXT TIME
• Add photos, a note, and a half-star rating each time you cook a recipe
• See exactly when you made it, what worked, and what you changed
• Search by recipe or ingredient, combine cuisine and dish filters, or browse collections you made yourself
• Choose what's in the fridge to find recipes you can make with it

SHARE A RECIPE
• Send a complete recipe as a link, including its ingredients, steps, photos, and notes
• Anyone who opens it in Nombook saves an independent, editable copy, so their changes never affect yours
• Prefer a picture? Share the recipe poster as an image instead

ON EVERY DEVICE OF YOURS, AND NOBODY ELSE'S
Your cookbook syncs through your own iCloud account, so one Apple ID opens the same recipes on every device you sign into. It goes to Apple's iCloud and never to us: there is no Nombook account and no Nombook server. Without iCloud everything still works, kept on the device. There are no ads, trackers, analytics, newsletters, subscriptions, or in-app purchases. Every feature is included.

### 5/5 — 无敌的软件

*2026-09-15*

界面非常可爱，功能比想象的多很多，使用起来非常舒服，无敌

### 5/5 — I love it and will keep using it

*2026-09-12*

So cute, but also actually useful! It’s super easy to save and organize my recipes, and I love being able to add my own notes and photos. The recipe-sharing feature is probably my favorite—I can send a whole recipe to a friend instead of taking a million screenshots. Everything works smoothly and is really easy to figure out. Definitely one of those apps I’ll keep using!

### 5/5 — Cute, free recipe app, and it just works

*2026-09-10*

I didn't expect to like this as much as I do. It's genuinely cute — the little hand-drawn art makes opening it feel nice instead of like a chore. And it's simple. I put a recipe in and I can find it again. That's more than I can say for the last three apps I tried.

The meal planning is what made me stick with it. Being able to actually lay out the week and have the shopping sort itself out is the thing I always wanted and never got.

Also it's free, with no account and nothing trying to upsell me. That still surprises me.

**Developer response:** 谢谢反馈！最新版本已经支持在编辑做菜步骤时滑动查看和修改啦，不用再反复退出、重新进入编辑，可以更新试试～

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.3.0 — 2026-09-14

Turn a recipe list into a menu.

Pick a layout — List, Fine dining, Illustrated, Cute, Chalkboard or Omakase — and Nombook draws your list as a menu you can send as a picture. Each one has a shape of its own, so a dinner for four and a week of meals both come out looking like a menu rather than a long scroll.

Fix a step while you're cooking. Tap the pencil in cook mode to change the wording, the timer or the photo without leaving the walkthrough, and add a note and photos on the finish screen alongside your rating.

Bringing in a recipe you've saved somewhere else is easier too: paste its link, or send the post to Nombook from the share sheet. If the recipe is only in the pictures, import screenshots of it instead.

### 1.2.1 — 2026-09-11

Share a complete recipe with a link.

When someone opens your link in Nombook, the recipe is saved to their Kitchen with its ingredients, steps, photos, and notes. They get their own editable copy, so their changes never affect yours.

Also new: recipe images now come in four layouts — Full page, Notebook, Step board, and Card. Pick one at the top of the share screen, and Nombook remembers it for next time.

### 1.2.0 — 2026-09-10

Share a complete recipe with a link.

When someone opens your link in Nombook, the recipe is saved to their Kitchen with its ingredients, steps, photos, and notes. They get their own editable copy, so their changes never affect yours.

### 1.1.1 — 2026-09-04

This update gives you more ways to make every recipe your own:

• Add total calories for the whole recipe and see them on the recipe page and shared recipe card.
• Mark any ingredient as optional, so it’s clear what can be left out.
• Record amounts in ounces or pounds, as well as grams and milliliters.
• Turn off iCloud Sync anytime in Settings. Your recipes will stay on your iPhone, and nothing already saved in iCloud will be deleted.

We’ve also made two small improvements: your preferred app language now stays in sync through iCloud, and the full ingredient library is available in What’s in My Fridge before you add your first recipe.

### 1.1 — 2026-09-02

Your cookbook now syncs with iCloud.

Recipes, photos, cook logs and meal plans appear on every device signed in to the same Apple ID — and they come back when you reinstall. It uses the iCloud you already have, so there is still no account to create. Settings shows whether syncing is on and what has reached iCloud.

Also new: paste a recipe straight from a note or a message, tap any photo to open it full screen and save it to Photos, and a larger ingredient library that starts each ingredient at a sensible amount.
