## What is Nono Extension?

Nono : blur the numbers you didn't ask to see

The web is full of numbers you never chose to look at. Calorie counts
under a recipe. Macros beside a menu item. The figure on a food label
in someone's blog photo. For a lot of people those numbers aren't
neutral information; they're a trigger that turns an ordinary moment
into a hard one.

Nono is a browser extension that quietly blurs numbers out of the pages
you visit, so you decide what you see and when. Calorie counts are
blurred by default. Want to check one? Tap or hover to reveal it, then
let it fade back. Nothing is deleted and nothing is sent anywhere. The
page just stops shouting at you.

Why This Exists
This is, at heart, an accessibility setting that browsers should already
have. People recovering from or living with eating disorders have to
navigate a web where calorie and weight numbers show up unbidden on
recipes, restaurant pages, packaging, fitness trackers, and social
feeds. Stepping around them shouldn't mean closing your eyes while you scroll.

The need isn't small. Roughly 9% of people in the US, nearly 31 million,
will experience an eating disorder in their lifetime (Deloitte Access
Economics, 2020). Globally, prevalence rose from about 3.5% to 7.8%
between 2000 and 2018 (Galmiche et al., 2019), and around 22% of
children and adolescents worldwide show signs of disordered eating
(López-Gil et al., 2023). Dieting is part of the picture: one
long-running study found adolescents who restricted their eating were
far more likely to go on to develop an eating disorder than those who
didn't (Patton et al., 1999). Cutting down constant, involuntary
exposure to diet numbers is a small, sensible piece of harm reduction.
